Unit1 词汇优教教学设计

设计意图

The topic of this unit is women of achievement, which is a bit familiar to the students because they have learnt a similar topic in Unit 5 “Nelson Mandela” in Book 1. The words of this unit are concerned about adjectives of qualities and verbs or V-phrases of describing a great person’s achievements. So the exercises are designed for students to talk about great women by using these words. Besides, this class focuses on teaching students to enlarge vocabulary by word formation and to learn new words from the context.

教学重点

1. Enable students to read aloud the vocabulary accurately and fluently.

2. Enable students to know and remember both forms and meanings of the words and expressions.

3. Get students to do simple exercises for consolidation.

教学难点

1. Let students know the usage of important words:observe, achieve, inspire, deliver and so on.

2. Get students to distinguish the gender of the words and remember relevant phrases.

教学目标

1. Help students learn some words and expressions about a great person’s qualities and achievements: considerate, organization, entertainment, connection, observe, inspire, determination, behave, respect, support, intend, etc.

2. Enable students to master the usage of phrases, and can describe a person with them:devote... to. . . ,argue for, refer to, carry on, lead a. . . life, look down upon, etc.

Lead-in (4 mins)

1. Ask some questions:Do you know any great women? What did they do?

What qualities did they have?

2. Ask two or three students to report. Answer the questions together. Describe a great woman. Get Students to review the words about a person’s qualities and achievements and train their speaking ability by reporting worksheets:Brainstorming (5 mins)

1. Get students to make a brainstorming sessio n by asking “What do the great women have in common?”.

2. Ask students to tell or spell out the words about a person^ qualities.

3. Ask students to read the words together.

4. Let students tell qualities of some great women. Tell or spell out the words about a person’s qualities. Read the words together.

识记词汇

Learn new words by word formation (6 mins)

1. Ask students to write down the correct form of the words or their Chinese meanings.

2. Check the answers in pairs.

精讲词汇

Some of the expressions are of great importance. Let us pay enough attention to them and make up for the missing parts of the sentences at the same time.
