The Disadvantages of Living in a Dormitory Dormitory life has accompanied me for nearly ten years. At the initial stage, I missed my family very much because I could go back home only once a week. Eventually I got used to this kind of life. Looking back at the past decade, I see many disadvantages while living in a dormitory.

When I was in the middle school, the managers imposed many restrictions. Every night we had to get in bed in time when the lights were turned off, and no flashlight was allowed. If one was absent for no reason at all, she would suffer very hard time the next day. The feeling of being deprived of liberty hurt me badly. The conditions didn’t even change better in the high middle school. Power was also cut at regular time. This time I lived in a high building, and a new problem was coming. Almost every morning I was woken up by the loud noises coming from the iron basins when they were put in the water trough. When the night came, the strict woman manager would walk every floor to inspect every dormitory. Whenever she noticed acts of disobeying the disciplines, she would read her a lecture loudly. No matter which floor she was, I could hear her words clearly, and she scared me. Then I came to the university. Things seemed to be better. But it’s not. It’s not convenient when I wanted to charge my cell-phone in

the night after 22:40. After I bought a computer, I could only use it before 22:40. And the internet speed was very low.

Now, I am still living in a dormitory. Although power is no longer off at regular time, happiness does not always go with electricity. Sometimes I want to cook some meals by myself instead of eating at the canteen. But ban of electrical equipments makes it impossible for me.

I have almost been sick of dormitory lives.
