我授课的班级是我校八年级（5）班学生。八年级的学生平均年龄在15岁左右，这年龄阶段的学生喜欢新鲜事物，喜欢任务型的教学活动，思维也很活跃，乐于表达自己的思想和看法。求知欲较强，喜欢参加一些探索性活动，学习积极主动，有较强的竞争意识。在学习活动中能积极发言，主动质疑，不懂就问，有较好的自控能力，并具备了一定的英语基础知识和较好的语言表达能力、合作技巧及自主学习的能力。但仍有一小部分学生学习的内在动力不足，缺乏自信心和学习毅力，表现在充满乐趣的学习活动中仍然欠积极主动，因此，在教学中，我努力营造宽松、民主、和谐的教学氛围，在各种活动中尽量使学生动起来。在互助合作中提高对英语的兴趣，多讲、多练，逐步提升听说读写各方面能力。
