For Halloween, we get to wear our costumes to school and go trick-or-treating from classroom to classroom. It's a total blast! For Christmas, wehave a huge concert where we sing carols and put on skits. There's also the Winter Party where we decorate cookies, drink hot chocolate and sometimes even gets visits from Santa! We have fun celebrations for the 100th day of school, Dr. Seuss' birthday, and even Cinco de Mayo.Speaking of holidays and celebrations, I almost forgot about the best school event of the year - the annual Science & Technology Fair! This is where students get to work on their own science experiment or invention and display it for the whole school. You get to explain your project to the judges and even have a chance to move on to the city science fair! Last year, I worked on a project about which soap dissolved best in water. I loved doing the experiment and making my display board to show my results. Sadly, I didn't move on to the city fair but I had an awesome time anyway.Even though I love school, I'd be lying if I said it was always easy and fun. We have a lot of homework, tests to study for, and sometimes even the occasional mean kid to deal with. Just last week, I bombed my spelling test and was pretty upset about it. Sometimes you just have a bad day. Luckily, my teachers and parents are always there to help me and encourage me to keep trying my best.Overall, my experience at Oakwood Elementary has been incredible so far. I've learned so much about math, reading, science and a ton of other topics. I've gotten to work on really neat projects and go on exciting field trips. Most importantly,I've made wonderful friends and met amazing teachers that have made a big impact on my life. I'm definitely going to be sad to leave Oakwood and head off to middle school after this year. But I'll always have the great memories I've made at what I believe is the best school ever!。
