It can be even scarier when you’re a young little blue penguin(企鹅)—the tiniest of the penguin species. Luckily, there are some humanswilling to help. They stepped in to protect Billy, a blue penguin that appearedon a beach in Christchurch, New Zealand.Spotted on November 29 at the slipway at Moncks Bay, near Sumner, in Christchurch, the little penguin immediately attracted a small crowd. Jeff Mein Smith saw the crowd while he was bicycling that afternoon, and he biked home to get his camera. When he returned to the scene, he found that the penguin had received a little sign, one that read “Hi, I’m waiting for my mum to come back. DOC(Department of Conservation) knows I’m here. Please leave me alone. Keep your dog away. Thanks. Billy—the baby blue penguin.”Billy didn’t move away from the sign. The DOC arrived later that afternoon to pick up Billy, though they were surprised to see it on the beach. “It’s unusual for a blue penguin to be out in the open on the beach during the day,”Anita Spencer, a DOC senior ranger, told Stuff.Billy was taken to the Christchurch Penguin Rehabilitation Center after being retrieved from the beach. Volunteers believe the bird may actually be a female penguin, and is around 2 months old. The chick weighs a mere 550 grams, less than a standard basketball. A blue penguin should weigh around 900 grams at this age. Most little penguins grow up to weigh 1 kilogram. The center will help the little penguin gain some weight by feeding it fish juice, before it’s set free into the ocean.4.Why can the world be frightening to a young penguin?A.It is a rare species.B.It faces potential danger.C.It is surrounded by the crowd.D.It is threatened by dogs.5.It can be inferred from the text that Billy________.A.is a female penguinB.has expressed its thanksC.weighs less for its ageD.prefers living on the beach6.Which of the following can replace the underlined word “retrieved”in paragraph 4?A.Ignored.B.Cured.C.Given away. D.Brought back.7.What will happen to Billy in the center?A.It will be reported to Stuff.B.It will be visited by the locals.C.It will be taken good care of.D.It will be fed with fruit juice.C(2019·东北三省四市二模)You can’t see your sleeping pet’s brain waves, but its behavior can tell you when your cat might be dreaming. If you watch closely, you’ll see that as she falls asleep, her breathing becomes slow and regular with her body still. She has entered the first stage of sleep, called slowwave sleep. After about 15 minutes you’ll notice a change in her breathing. Her eyes move under her closed lids, her paws twitch(抽动) and she flicks(轻拂) an ear. She has entered dreaming. Although she twitches and makes little grunting noises, messages from her brain to the large muscles in her legs are blocked, so she can’t run about. She is in a state of “sleep paralysis(麻痹)”.Michel Jouvet, a French scientist, interrupted their sleep paralysis. Even though they were completely asleep, the dreaming cats began to run for balls that Jouvet couldn’t see and arched their backs at unseen enemies. He figured he was watching them act out their dreams! Obviously, the dreaming cats seemed to be practising important cat skills: following, pouncing, and fighting. In another study, Matt Wilson recorded rats’brain waves while they learned mazes. One day, her left the brainwaverecording machine on while the rats fell asleep. The pattern of brain waves in the sleeping rats matched the pattern from the maze so closely that Wilson could figure out exactly which part of the maze each rat was dreaming about! Many researchers now think that in both people and animals, one purpose of dreams is to practise important skills and figure out recent learning. This may explain why so many people dream about fighting and escaping, skills that were probably important to our ancestors, and why dreamingaffects our ability to learn.Do all animals dream? From looking at the brain waves of sleeping animals, how often animals dream seems to be tied to body size. Cats dream about every 15 minutes, mice every 9 minutes, and elephants every 2 hours. And though cows and horses usually sleep standing up, they only dream when lying down.8.What does Michel Jouvet find in his study?A.The dreaming cats are in a state of body paralysis.B.The dreaming cats often practise their important skills.C.The eyes of dreaming cats move while bodies are still.D.The legs of the dreaming cats can’t move.9.What can you know about dreaming from the passage?A.Dreaming a lot can help humans learn more.B.Learning mazes is the basic skill for cats to learn.C.Rats often dream to work out their recent learning.D.Fighting and escaping are not important skills for ancestors.10.Which animal may dream most frequently?A.Rats.B.Dogs.C.Cows. D.Elephants.11.How does the author develop his passage?A.By making comparisons. B.By using figures.C.By telling stories. D.By showing facts.D(2019·福建泉州质量检测)Skyscrapers are the symbol of urban life.City people are used to seeing tall buildings and apartments. Farms, on theother hand, are associated with rural(农村的) life. However, there are expertswho think skyscrapers should become farms to meet the increasing food needs.By the middle of this century, some scientists suggest, almost 80% of the Earth’s population could live in cities. In addition, the population could increase to 9.1 billion during that time yet the amount of land available for farming will be the same. If current farming practices don’t change, we will need an area of new land to produce enough food for the planet.Vertical farms, where urban farmers could grow crops in environmentally friendly skyscrapers, could be the solution. In spite of concerns over high costs, experts want to make it a reality and use these skyscrapers to grow crops.Vertical farms would have many advantages, supporters say. Unlike traditional farming, vertical farming could be free of chemicals and diseases. Besides, crops would not suffer from problems like flooding. Finally, vertical farms would reduce the cost and negative effects of transporting food overlong distances. Some argue that although crops growing in a tall glass building would get natural sunlight during the day, it wouldn’t be enough. For this reason, vertical farms would need additional light sources(来源), such as artificial light.Another way of growing fresh food is to build urban farms on rooftops. This more practical approach may be more achievable than the idea of farms in skyscrapers, researchers suggest. Experts agree that innovative(革新的) farming practices are needed to support the need for more food at affordable costs, both to the farmer and to the consumer, but the best ideas have yet to come.12.What primary problem could vertical farming settle?A.Poor state of rural life.B.Shortage of food supply.C.High cost of transporting crops.D.Environmental pollution by traditional farming.13.What is the advantage of vertical farming?A.It can produce organic food.B.It requires little care.C.It can benefit transport industry.D.It needs very low cost.14.What is a big challenge of making vertical farming a reality?A.Farmable land.B.Crop diseases.C.Light sources. D.Climate conditions.15.What can be the best title of the text?A.Future Food Needs B.Symbol of Urban LifeC.Farming on Rooftops D.Farms of the Future第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

题型重组练(五)(建议用时:25分钟)Ⅰ.阅读理解A(2019·江西九江二模)I went to a New York Mets’ fantasy camp in 1995, an incredible experience. I was fortunate to be on a team whose pitching coach was Mel Stottlemyre, the former Yankees’star pitcher(投手) and Mets’ and Yankees’ co ach. I was upset when Mel died of cancer on Jan. 13, 2018, at the age of 77.He was warm, friendly and treated us as if we were major leagues. He asked me whether I would like to pitch and showed me how to throw a “twoseamer”,a fastball that tends to sink, as well as a straight fourseam fastball. I knew that pitching was not for me. At age 45, my experience in organizing baseball was limited to a couple of years in Little League in the Bronx, and softball games as an adult. Mel eventually left the Mets and became the pitching coach for the Yankees. I followed his career and knew about his diagnosis(诊断) of multiple myeloma, a blood cancer, in April 2000, and a stemcell transplant. In the summer of 2002, I was diagnosed as multiple myeloma and was told that I needed a stem-cell transplant by the same group of doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center that had treated Mel.This shocked me, and frankly, I became quite depressed. I vowed that somehow I would try to speak to Mel. One day, my phone rang. Mel was calling from the Yankees’ locker room. I asked him to tell me everything about his treatment. He spent 30 minutes generously explaining all the details. I hung on every word. He told me how well he was feeling and ended the conversation by giving me his home phone number! “I feel great, and I’m not retiring,”he told me.This incredible experience lifted my spirits. Every time I saw Mel during games on TV as I awaited my transplant, I repeated to myself, “Look at Mel. If he can do it, so can I.”1.Why did the author say he was lucky in paragraph 1?A.He joined a famous team.B.He met an unusual coach.C.He was successfully cured.D.He was chosen as a pitcher.2.What do we know about the author?A.He was not skilled in pitching.B.He was a good baseball player.C.He called Mel for his treatment.D.He forgot what Mel had told him.3.How old was Mel when he was diagnosed as multiple myeloma?A.23.B.45.C.59. D.61.4.What would be a suitable title for the text?A.The Skills Taught by My Former CoachB.The Transplant Given by the Same DoctorsC.My Baseball Team Helping Me OutD.My Coach’s Spirits Shining on MeBA walk through the galleries of Quebec’s Montreal Museum of FineArts(MMFA) places individuals face-to-face with some 43,000 artworksranging from Chinese ceramics to Inuit sculpture. While the visiting is an incredible cultural experience, a group of localphysicians will soon be able to prescribe(开处方) museum visits as treatment for some illnesses.“We know that art contributes to neural(神经的) activity,”said MMFA director Nathalie Bondil. “What we see is that being in contact with art can really help your wellbeing.”Hélène Boyer, vice president of a Montrealbased medical association, explains that museum visits have been shown to increase levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter(神经递质) known as the “happy chemical” which helps to lift the mood.According to Boyer, the small increase in hormones associated with enjoying an afternoon of art is similar to that offered by exercise, making museum visits prescriptions ideal for the elderly experiencing pain that prevents them from regularly joining in physical activity. The museum visits are designed to improve traditional methods. As Bondil notes, spending time in a peaceful environment can provide a welcome distraction. “What is most important is this experience can help them escape from their own pain,”she says. “When you enter the museum, you escape from the speed of our daily life.”“I am convinced that in the 21st century, culture will be what physical activity was for health in the 20th century,”said Bondil. “Some people would do well to recall that just in the 19th century, sports were believed to do harm to the body. Just as doctors now prescribe exercise, they will be able to prescribe a visit to the MMFA.”5.What does Hélène Boyer think of museum visits?A.They can cheer people up.B.They can reduce physical activity.C.They can slow down our life pace.D.They can increase levels of art appreciation.6.How do museum visits affect people?A.Stop them concentrating on pain.B.Stop them focusing on traditional methods.C.Encourage them not to be absent-minded.D.Encourage them to slow their steps while walking.7.What does the last paragraph suggest?A.Physical activity was popular in the 19th century.B.Sports are considered to be harmful to the body.C.Ideas of treating illnesses are changing over time.D.Doctors prescribe museum visits regularly now.8.What is the main idea of the text?A.Museum visits are ideal for the elderly.B.The happy chemical helps to lift the mood.C.Peaceful environment helps escape pain.D.Cultural activities will promote health.Ⅱ.七选五College is the time when you’re expected to focus on your path in life. But it’s also the time you’re the least equipped to have any longterm plan. 1.________.The whole process can be divided into three stages. The first is “gathering fuel”. This means building up your skills, learning from different experiences and developing a network of people who you trust and who trust you. And this is a stage that requires patience and a willingness to identify your own weaknesses and work on them. If you complete this stage with a growing sense of what you love to do and what you are good at, 2.________.The second stage is “burning fuel”. This is the time to improve the skills you’ve obtained through experiences, the people you’ve met along the way and the recognition of what you should do. 3.________. We want to get where we’re going in a hurry, but that hardly works.4.________.Simply speaking, it’s about staying strong, while turning an eye toward what lies ahead. It’s a surprisingly long journey and most people underestimate it. You can’t expect an ideal life to happen by itself. You must recognize that no matter where you are on the path, each step is there to teach you something, feeding you that fuel.If you’re not doing what you want, you need more fuel—so go out and get it. 5.________.A.you are winningB.that will come trueC.The last part is “saving fuel”D.Th e final part is “filling fuel”E.Here are some tips on how to aim your sight into the futureF.It seems that most of us try to jump straight to the next stageG.And if you’re doing what you want, keep moving and don’t settle题型重组练(五)Ⅰ.阅读理解【解题导语】文章叙述了作者在参加度假营时遇到了投球教练Mel,作者之后不幸患上癌症,需要进行干细胞移植。

题型重组练(一)(建议用时:30分钟)Ⅰ.阅读理解A(2019·湖南雅礼中学高三模拟)Don’t get mad the next time you catch your teenager texting when he promised to be studying. He simply may not be able to resist. A UI(University of Iowa) study found teenagers are far more sensitive than adults to the immediate effect or reward of their behaviors. The findings may help explain why the initial rush of texting may be more attractive for adolescents than the longterm payoff of studying.“For the teenager, the rewards are attractive,” says Professor Jatin Vaidya, an author of the study. “They draw adolescents. Sometimes, the rewards are a kind of motivation for them. Even when a behavior is no longer in a tee nager’s best interest to continue, he will still go on. That’s because the effect of the reward is still there and lasts much longer in adolescents than in adults.”For parents, that means limiting distraction so teenagers can make better choices. Take the homework and social media dilemma for example: At 9 p.m., shut off everything except a computer that has no access to Facebook or Twitter, the researchers advise. “I’m not saying they shouldn’t be allowed to have access to technology,” Vaidya says. “But some help in netting their concentration is necessary for them so they can develop those impulse(冲动)control skills.”In their study, Vaidya and coauthor Shaun Vecera note researchers generally believe teenagers are impulsive, make bad decisions, and engage in risky behavior because the frontal lobes(额叶) of their brains are not fully developed. But the UI researchers wonder whether something more fundamental is going on with adolescents to cause behaviors independent of higherlevel reasoning.“We wanted to try to understand how the brain’s reward system chang es from childhood to adulthood,” says Vaidya, who adds the reward character in the human brain is easier than decisionmaking. “We’ve been trying to understand the reward process in adolescence and whether there is more to adolescence behavior than an underdeveloped frontal lobe,” he adds. For their study, the researchers persuaded 40 adolescents, aged 13 and 16, and 40 adults, aged 20 and 35 to participate. In the future, researchers hope to look into the psychological and neurological aspects of their results.1.What does the passage mainly tell us?A.Always, rewards are attractive to teenagers.B.Resistance can be controlled well by adolescents.C.Getting rewards is the greatest motivation for adolescents to study.D.The initial rush of texting is less attractive for adolescents than the long term payoff of studying.2.Which statement agrees with Jatin Vaidya’s idea?A.Children should have access to the Internet.B.Children need help in refocusing their attention.C.Parents should help children in making decisions.D.The influence of the reward is weak in adolescents.3.What result does teenagers’ brain underdevelopment lead to?A.Making good decisions.B.Escaping risky behavior.C.Joining in dangerous actions.D.Doing things after some thought.4.How did the researchers carry out their study?A.By examining adults’ brain.B.By examining teenagers’ brain.C.By building th e brain’s reward system.D.By making a comparison of brain examinations.BStan Lee, cofounder of the Marvel Universe(漫威宇宙) andcocreator of many of its most popular superheroes, died at theage of 95.Lee was born Stanley Martin Lieber in New York in 1922. Small talk. Chitchat. These are the short conversations we have at parties, while we wait in line at the store, at family events or work. Sometimes we make small talk with people we already know but not well. Often we have to make small talk with complete strangers. Many people find such small talk about random topics difficult. Some people say they hate it. Others say small talk is a waste of time. They may even call it idle chitchat or idle chatter, meaning it doesn’t do anything. They consider small talk not important. However, small talk is important.Small talk can open doors that may lead to larger, more meaningful conversations. When you first meet someone or talk to someone you don’t know well, it would be awkward to begin a conversation about a really deep topic such as war, politics or the meaning of life.Small talk also gives you the chance to decide if you want to get know that person better or not. Let’s say you make small talk with someone at a party. But they only want to talk about cats. You may not want to build a friendship with them unless you really, really love cats.Small talk can also increase your feeling of understanding, or empathy, toward people you know but not well. Chatting with a colleague about their child may help you to understand more of their life outside the office. This could help build healthy work relationships.Small talk could even help your larger communities—your relationships with neighbors. Exchanging recipe with a neighbor in your apartment building may make her noises upstairs easier to live with. And small talk may make us happier! In 2011, most commuters(乘车往返于两地之间的人) in the city of Chicago said they would enjoy “quiet cars” where they sat alone and did not talk to anybody.Researchers at the University of Chicago then asked some participants in a study to talk to people while commuting to work on a train. They found that those who made small talk with strangers were happier than those who sat alone.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________写作规范练(三)第一节应用文写作One possible version:Dear Josh,I’m glad to hear from you again and really appreciate your summer plans. Instead, they preferred to hear the question answered in this way:“Africa is the cradle of humankind”and “Africans are passionate and generous”.Apparently, there are some misunderstandings between us. It’s true that with incidents like the Ebola outbreak in West Africa and the emergence(出现) of pirates off the coast of Somalia hitting the news, it’s easy for us to keep forgetting that Africa has one of the world’s oldest civilizations—Egypt, born by the world’s longest river, the Nile. The proof is in the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Great Sphinx of Giza, which are both popular among tourists. And the tombs of ancient Egypt have also become endless sources for the literature and film industries. When it comes to the natural environment of Africa, our misunderstandings are only bigger. But the truth is that instead of being extremely hot all year round and covered by desert, the continent has large areas of savannas(稀树草原) where lions, giraffes and zebras live, the snowcapped Kilimanjaro—the highest mountain in Africa —and even thick forest on the island of Madagascar. These misunderstandings are one of the reasons why the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on ChinaAfrica Cooperation was held on Sept. 3 and 4—to understand each other better.Indeed, only by visiting Africa herself did Huang see the convenient livingconditions, the amazing natural beauty and the friendly people. In her eyes, her classmates were as hopeful about the future of their own countries as they were about Africa as a whole, and they were quick to demonstrate both their strong will and activity. “At that moment, I knew exactly what they wanted—they wanted their culture to be respected.”4.Which of the following best explains the underlined “cradle” in paragraph 2?A.A small bed for babies.B.A basket to hold something.C.A place for people to relax themselves.D.A place where something important began.5.What can we infer about Africa according to the passage?A.It is very hot all year round.B.It’s not a safe continent to live on.C.It’s different from what we imagine.D.It is bound to have a bright future.6.Which of the following would Huang agree with?A.To see is to believe.B.Think twice before you do.C.A miss is as good as a mile.D.Don’t judge a person by his appearance.7.What can be a suitable title for the text?A.Valuing a CultureB.Understanding AfricaC.Paying a Visit to AfricaD.Discovering a ContinentC(2019·合肥第一次质量检测)Have you ever heard of agritourismwhere you can experience the farm life? A(2019·河南五校高三下学期联考)There are dozens of movie recommendation engines on the Web. They’re all different, but some are definitely better than others.Rotten TomatoesInstead of telling Rotten Tomatoes which films you like, you can tell it what kind of films you enjoy, which actors you want to see, and other standards to help it find the best movie for you. There’s a lot of variability in the quality of Rotten Tomatoes recommendations but it’s also a nice way to find the right film for any mood.NetflixNetflix asks you to rate(划分等级) movies to determine which films you’ll want to see next. And although it does make it easy to rate movies and it does return huge lists, the ideas it gives you aren’t all that strong. It’s easy to use, but it’s not the best way to get movie recommendations.JinniWhether you want to search for films based on your mood, time available, or reviews, the site has it all. But Jinni’s most amazing feature is its semantic(语义的)search. You can enter a term like “films that show Chris Farley yelling” and the site will return films that match your question. Go to use Jinni. You won’t regret it!CritickerInstead of just allowing you to rank films, Criticker compares your ratings to those of other users and see how closely your tastes match those of other users. Once the service finds matches, you can view these users’ lists and see which movies they like.1.Which one does the author recommend most?A.Rotten Tomatoes. B.Netflix.C.Jinni. D.Criticker.2.What makes Criticker special?A.Comparing users’ ratings.B.Ranking your favourite films.C.Offering different standards.D.Finding films based on mood.3.What is the purpose of the text?A.To recommend the best online movies.B.To show how to use movie search engines.C.To introduce several movie search engines.D.To explain how to find the best online movies.B(2019·深圳高三第一次调研)Kevin, diagnosed with dyslexia(诵读困难症), rarely spoke a word in class, and if he did, it would be a “Yes”,“No”, or “Maybe”in response to questions. He always scored badly in tests and saw no hope for the future. That was until he met Sarah, an advisor at a youth center Kidpreneur. In 2012, Kevin attended a course called Ready Set Go in that center. The course was for disadvantaged kids in Kingswood—a lowincome area in Sydney’s western suburbs —and its goal was to teach the kids how to create businesses and offer value to the neighborhood. At the end of the course, Sarah took the kids to the local area. She asked volunteers to share their business experiences—Kevin immediately put up his hand. His challenge was to trade his hot dog selling service for free bread at a bakery. Although scared, Kevin was able to share his entrepreneurial story(创业故事) with the shop owner and asked if he could exchange his service for some bread. Unexpectedly, the shop owner told Kevin how moved he was by his story and handed him some bread for free. By the end of the afternoon, his belief in himself and what was possible was at an alltime high. The following week, Kevin sold 70 hot dogs in two hours and made over $200. Soon after, he delivered public speeches in 20 schools, and was selected as part of his school’s leadership team. Now he heads a business group working on how to increase the potential customer base. All of this would not have been possible if Kevin had not found his passion and perseverance to improve himself, and those around him. The guidance and trust of his advisor also helped to kindle his enthusiasm to go after his goals and dreams in life.4.What were the kids expected to achieve in the Ready Set Go course?A.To improve their test scores.B.To create a hot dog business.C.To teach in lowincome areas.D.To be beneficial to the local area.5.How did Kevin feel after visiting the local bakery?A.Scared. B.Confident.C.Touched. D.Grateful.6.What does the underlined wo rd“kindle”in the last paragraph probably mean?A.Inspire. B.Share.C.Continue. D.Express.7.What can be a suitable title for the text?A.On the Road to RecoveryB.Turning Failure into SuccessC.Growing Wealthy Through Hard WorkD.From Hopeless Youth to Business LeaderC(2019·成都第一次诊断)For six hundred years, the Tower ofLondon’s most exotic(异国风情的) prisoners were animals. The Royal Menagerie(动物园) began as a result of kingsexchanging rare and strange animals as gifts. In 1235, Henry Ⅲwas delighted to be presented with three wildcats by the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick Ⅱ.These inspired him to start a zoo at the Tower.Henry’s“wildcats”, although described as leopards, were probably lions. These are the ancestors of the three lions that still appear on the England football team’s shirts today. In 1251 the lions were joined by a“white bear”probably a polar bear—given by the King of Norway. In 1255, the King of France sent the first elephant never seen in England and people flocked together to see the novel sight. Sadly, the elephant died in 1258.Poor treatment and cramped conditions meant many of the animals did not survive for long. But the Royal Menagerie continued to grow.Edward Ⅰ created a permanent new home for the Royal Menagerie at the western entrance to the Tower, which became known as the Lion Tower. The terrifying sounds and smells of wild animals must have both impressed and scared visitors.By 1622, the collection had been extended to include three eagles, two pumas, a tiger and a jackal, as well as lions and leopards, who were the main attractions. However, the end of the Royal Menagerie came in the 1830s. Campaigners had begun to raise concerns, and the animals were expensive, occasionally dangerous and a nuisance to the guardsmen. The Duke of Wellington sent 150 of the beasts to a new zoo in Regent’s Park, today’s London Zoo.Despite Alfred Cops’s best efforts to carry on,several further incidents including an escaped wolf and a monkey that bit a guardsman’s leg convinced King William Ⅳ to shut down the Royal Menagerie for good in 1835.The remaining animals were sold to zoos and travelling shows and the Lion Tower was later demolished.8.What do we know about the elephant presented in 1255?A.It caused big trouble.B.It received much attention.C.It lived painfully in the Lion Tower.D.It died before the polar bear came in.9.How many types of animals at the Royal Menagerie are mentioned in the text?A.Eight. B.Nine.C.Ten. D.Eleven.10.For what reason was the Royal Menagerie closed at last?A.Security concerns.B.The decline of tourism.C.Pressure from campaigners.D.The financial burden to raise the animals.11.Which is the best title for the text?A.The Royal MenagerieB.Gifts Presented to the KingC.Tourist Attractions in LondonD.Miserable Life in the Lion TowerD(2019·济南高三模拟)We humans love to stare into our smart devices. We gaze for hours—about 10 hours and 39 minutes a day—at our computers, smartphones, tablets and televisions. Is all this staring bad for us? It might be, mainly because as we stare at our devices we are exposing ourselves to blue light.Blue light is a type of electromagnetic(电磁的) radiation with a very short wavelength that produces a high amount of energy. While it’s true that light can damage our eyes under certain circumstances, there’s no scientific evidencesuggesting that blue light is harmful to our eyes. But many people still think it is, which is why bluelightblocking glasses are so popular. So do the glasses work?“Everyone is very concerned that blue light may be causing damage to the eye, but there’s no evidence that it may be causing serious damage,” Dr. Rahul Khurana, clinical spokesman for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, told Business Insider.Blue light exposure is nothing new. In fact, the sun is the largest source of blue light. Moreover, blue light is also present in LED light. But if blue light isn’t harmful, then why are we constantly rubbing our eyes when we’re looking at our screens? The answer is eyestrain(眼疲劳): More than 60 percent of people experience eye problems associated with digital eyestrain. And blue light, it seems, isn’t the cause. Instead, our eyes are so strained because most of us blink less when we stare at our digital devices. So if eyestrain is the issue, bluelightblocking glasses are probably of little use.12.What do we know about blue light?A.It is a kind of nuclear radiation.B.It has the shortest wavelength.C.It may come from electronic devices.D.It consumes a great deal of energy.13.What causes the popularity of bluelightblocking glasses?A.Evidence of their benefits to eyes.B.Belief in blue light’s harmful effect.C.Widespread use of smart devices.D.Scientific understanding of blue light.14.What can be inferred from paragraph 4?A.Blue light exposure is hardly avoidable.B.Eye problems are not easy to deal with.C.Blue light may connect with tired eyes.D.Rubbing eyes makes people strained.15.According to the text, wearing bluelightbloc king glasses may be ________.A.tiring B.harmfulC.useless D.beneficial第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

2020版新高考英语三轮复习京津鲁琼版练习:题型重组练2 题型重组练(二) Word版含解析

题型重组练(二)(建议用时:25分钟)Ⅰ.阅读理解A(2019·洛阳第二次统考)There is more of a connection between foodand culture than you may think. On an individual level, we grow up eatingthe food of our culture. It becomes a part of who we are. Many associatefood from our childhood with warm feelings and good memories and it tiesus to our families, holding a special and personal value for us. Food fromour family often becomes the comfort food we seek as adults in times of frustration and stress. On a large scale, traditional food is an important part of culture. It also operates as an expression of culture identity. Immigrants bring it wherever they go, and it is a symbol of pride for their culture and means of coping with homesickness. Many immigrants open their own restaurants and serve traditional dishes. However, the food does not remain exactly the same. Some materials needed to make traditional dishes may not be readily available, so the taste and flavor can be different from what they would prepare in their home countries. Additionally, immigrants do not only sell dishes to people from the same countries as them, but to people from different countries. Therefore, they have to make small changes about the original dishes to cater to a wider range of customers. Those changes can create new flavors that still keep the cultural significance of the dishes. We should embrace our heritage(传统) through our culture’s food but also become more informed about other cultures by trying their food. It is important to remember that each dish has a special place in the culture to which it belongs, and is special to those who prepare it. Food is a window into culture, and it should be treated as such.1.What’s the function of food mentioned in the text?A.To help motivate homesickness.B.To show national identity.C.To reflect a country’s history.D.To show a community’s superiority.2.What does the underlined word “it”in paragraph 2 refer to?A.The specific traditional food.B.The national culture.C.A traditional expression of food.D.The old-fashioned taste.3.Why do some immigrants have to change the original dishes in their restaurant?A.To attach cultural importance to their dishes.B.To announce the beginning of their life on foreign soil.C.To make the dishes popular among customers.D.To present their own food culture in a new way.4.What’s the author’s attitude towards different food cultures?A.Negative.B.Balanced.C.Unfair. D.Unchangeable.BFor those of us who attempt to keep up with the fashion world toensure our cupboards stay fresh, the real skeletons in our cupboards arethose pieces we bought and only wore once or twice—mostly fromfollowing each season’s new trends. With fast fashion brands like Forever 21, H&M and Zara’s constantoutput of new trendy clothing at low prices, it’s easy to fall into the trap ofbuying clothes regardless of whether you really need them. But unnecessarypurchasing, and the mass production of clothing, aren’t just hard on our wallets—they are hard on the environment. One of the first steps in getting unwanted clothes out of your cupboard is to sell or consign(寄送) them. But because popular resale shops like Buffalo Exchange and Crossroads don’t accept fast fashion brands because they don’t profit enough from them, people often turn to throwing their old clothing in the dustbins. Many consumers don’t realize that clothing and textiles(纺织品) are recyclable or how to recycle them. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the United States generated 16.22 million tons of waste textiles in 2017 and recycled only 2.62 million tons. Ten and a half million tons of textiles were finally buried under the ground that year.Vetements, a Parisian fashion brand worn by celebrities like Kanye West and Rihanna, aimed to bring awareness to the problem of fast fashion brands and clothing waste with a recent window display at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York. The window contained a giant pile of clothes. The pile, which grew daily, was made up of old clothes donated by Saks employees and outofseason items from the store. On Aug.10, the clothing from the display was donated to RewearAble, a Long Island recycling program that collects old clothes and textiles, and prepares them for resale or repurposes the textiles.5.What keeps customers coming back to fast fashion brands like Forever 21, H&M and Zara?A.Good shopping environment.B.Discounts and promotional activities.C.Warm and thoughtful service of the salesmen.D.Low prices and a continuous supply of new looks.6.Where can you find the data that best supports “fast fashion is hard on the environment”?A.In paragraph 2.B.In paragraph 3.C.In paragraph 4.D.In paragraph 5.7.What can be learned about the window display created by Vetements?A.It can help the environment.B.It does good to people’s health.C.It can help change people’s lives.D.It will take the lead in the latest fashion.8.What is the best title for the text?A.How to Stop Buying Unnecessary ClothesB.Fast Fashion Brands Spread Around the WorldC.The Advantages and Disadvantages of Fast FashionD.Fast Fashion Can Kill Your Wallet and the EnvironmentⅡ.七选五Many people struggle with saying “No”. 1.________ Remember, just because you can do something does not mean it is required. Understand you always have a right to turn down an invitation or refuse a favor and figure out the best ways to say “No”. Here are some specific tips.Give yourself permission to say “No”.
