2022年高考英语最新热点时文阅读:东京奥运会

2022年高考最新热点时文阅读-东京奥运01(2021·广西南宁·)Being an Olympian (奥运会选手) demands focus, determination, and a competitive spirit. Plus, representing your country is a lot of pressure. However, two athletes recently showed the world another quality that is definitely worth championing.Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim and Italy's Gianmarco Tamberi were competing in the high jump on Sunday when they reached a stalemate (僵局). Both men had managed to jump over a surprising 2.37 meters with no faults along the way. However, after three attempts neither managed the next level of 2.39 meters. An Olympic official suggested a jump-off between the two friends and rivals (竞争对手) to determine who would get the gold medal. But Barshim had another plan to reward their efforts.“Can we have two golds?” he ask ed the official. The official agreed and the two men jumped for joy. This was the first time a gold medal had been shared since 1912. “He is one of my best friends, not only on the track, but outside the track. We work together. This is a dream come true.” shared Barshim. The decision to share the medal was particularly meaningful to Tamberi. The Italian had suffered an ankle injury that prevented him from competing in the Rio Olympics in 2016, and it nearly put an end to his career altogether. So this year he brought along his cast to this year's Olympics with “Road to Tokyo 2021” to inspire him along the way.For Barshim, the gold has topped off his already impressive medal collection, having received a bronze and a silver medal in 2012 and 2016 respectively.Despite all the glory of receiving a gold medal for their countries, their achievement means so much more. These two individuals, trying to do their very best for their countries, have provided a wonderful example to all those competing in sports. They've summed up exactly what it means to take part in a global event with a generous and compassionate (有同情心的) spirit. 1.What happened to Barshim and Tamberi in the competition?A.They ended in a tie. B.They quit the competition.C.They set a new record. D.They ran out of strength.2.What does the underlined word “jump-off” in Paragraph 3 refer to?A.Debate. B.Vote.C.Celebration. D.Extra round.3.Why was the gold medal particularly meaningful to Tamberi?A.It could bring him a lot of money. B.It may make up for his regret in 2016.C.It was a glory for his country. D.It could complete his medal collection. 4.What does the author mainly want to convey in the text?A.The importance of sharing.B.The glory of winning gold medals.C.The valuable and special team spirit.D.The considerate and sharing Olympic spirit.02(2021·浙江杭州·)Though the Tokyo Olympic Games drew to a close on August 8, 2021, the public is still watching the athletes. Their outfits and the technologies that helped them in the competition have aroused people’s interest.Su Bingtian, the first Chinese sprinter to reach an Olympic 100m final, has ascribed his breakthrough to scientific training. “It takes Su 47 steps to run 100 meters. Each step counts,” Liang Dong, a member of Su’s training team, told Shenzhen Evening News. “Randy Huntington, Su’s American coach and a biomechanics expert in track and field, has collected a lot of data on outstanding sprinters and built a database. He put in all of Su’s data and got a near-optimal model. When Su is training, the team uses high-speed cameras to record his training and compares it with the model to find out his weaknesses.”Technology has also brought a new boost to table tennis. On July 27, the semifinal match between China’s Sun Yingsha and Japan’s Mima Ito was in full swing at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. You wouldn’t have guessed that besides players, referees and audiences, a powerful AI platform was monitoring the match.Every serve, swing and movement of Mima Ito was captured by this AI cloud platform deployed in Tokyo. At an average speed of 100 Mbps, the data was transmitted to the technical team of the Zhejiang University Table Tennis Intelligent Big Data Analysis Platform,2,442 kilometers away from the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, according to The Paper. The Tokyo Olympic Games have seen not only scientific support in training, but many high-end technologies in athletes’ devices. For example, the Kenya women’s volleyball team’s GPS devices fed data on each playe r’s strength, heart rate and so on to coaches, who used the information to prevent injury and personalize training plans for each individual, South China Morning Post reported.5.Which of the following can replace the underlined word “ascribed” in Paragra ph 2? A.attachedB.owedC.adaptedD.devoted6.Which event in the Tokyo Olympics isn’t mentioned in the passage?A.Table tennis.B.Sprint.C.Women’s volleyball.D.Archery.7.What can be a suitable title for the text?A.Enhancing Sports with TechnologyB.A report about the Tokyo Olympic GamesC.An Al platform monitoring the Tokyo GamesD.Devices and Training Determine Athletes’ Competition03(2021·上海市建平中学)Age Is No Barrier to Sporting PassionOne of the most touching moments of the Tokyo Games this summer was entirely spontaneous. During the qualifying round of the women's gymnastics, 46-year-old Oksana Chusovitina took to the podium in her 8th Olympics as she attempted to qualify for the vault finals one last time. Chusovitina, who won her finals world championship golds in 1991 and took an Olympic team gold in 1992, had previously announced that Tokyo would mark the end of her illustrious career.Chusovitina finished 14th in the vault competition that day, missing the final after two fine but flawed vaults. 8.Across the floor, all the other gymnasts gave Chusovitina a standing ovation, a gesture that moved her to tears.Even as she convincingly explained her intention to move on from the sport and to devote more time to her son, Alisher, she has always been terrible at retiring. She had indicated that she would retire after the 2009 World Championships, aged 34. 9.Each time Chusovitina has considered retirement, her sheer passion for the sport and tireless motivation has won out.10.When she posted a video of herself working through an uneven bars routine with no grips, the jokes about “unretirement” began. 11.Chusovitina explained that she left Tokyo unsatisfied by her result and determined to finish her career on a high: “I really want to end my career with a medal for Uzbekistan,” she said to Sputnik. “It will not be the Olympic Games, but the Asian ones, bu t I really want it. When my heart asks, I have to do it.”A.It has done so again.B.Luck, however, has not been on her side so far.C.Three years later, she set London 2012 as the end point.D.The turbulent past few years could have shattered Chusovitina's confidence but her commitment is admirable.E .Instead of an audience at the empty Ariake Gymnastics Centre to send her off, her fellow competitors unexpectedly took charge.F. Last Thursday, within eight weeks of the Olympics ending, Chusovitina announced that she would continue to train with her eyes set on the 2022 Asian Games next September.

After months of expectation and secrecy, the official mascot (吉祥物) of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games-a giant panda-inspired cartoon character-made its first public debut with cheers at Beijing's Shougang Ice Hockey Arena. The panda is named “Bing Dwen Dwen” in Chinese. Bing means “ice” in Chinese, while Dwen Dwen suggests “health and cleverness”-characteristics also shared by pandas. Pandas are perhaps the most recognized animal species in China, organizers said.“Pandas combine China's traditional culture and its modern appearance together with winter sports elements in a fascinating image (形象) that shows our great expectations for the Games and shows that we welcome the world,” said Beijing Mayor Chen Jining, who also serves as an executive president on the organizing committee.“I have already seen the mascot and from what I've seen, it’s a wonderful choice,” IOC President Thomas Bach said before introducing the character.” “The mascot really takes in the best elements and characteristics of China and the Chinese people. D.Charm the world with the beauty of the winter sports.03(广东省珠海市2022届上学期高三摸底测试英语试题)Although the weather is very hot now, the carnival of ice and snow is getting closer. The preparation work for Beijing Winter Olympic Games, which are expected to begin on Feb 4, 2022, has entered its final stage. In January, 2021, the ice-making work on the “Ice Ribbon”, a landmark venue for the Beijing Winter Olympics, was completed. In the Winter Olympics, where races can be won or lost by a small time gap, tiny imperfections in the ice can make all the difference. “It's not just a hunk of ice like you'd normally think of, like ice cubes sitting in your freezer,” told Kenneth Golden, a US mathematician who studies the structures of ice. “It's a much more fascinating and complex substance than people would normally think.”The first step for building any ice rink is to purify the water to remove dissolved solids like salts and minerals. Such impurities don't fit in the regular hexagonal (六边形的) structure of ice that forms as water freezes. The more pure the water is, the more consistent the ice surface. In addition to the need for excellence in the raw materials of ice-making, technology is also very important. As one of the most advanced technologies for winter sports venues, a carbon dioxide (CO2) cooling technology has been applied on a large scale for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games. CO2 is not new when it comes to ice-making. However, it has been gradually replaced by the man-made refrigerant, like Freon. With increasing attention toward climate change, the old refrigerant has come into use again. As an element of the atmosphere, CO2doesn't damage the ozone layer. Although CO2is a greenhouse gas, its greenhouse effect is much lower than that of other synthetic refrigerants. TheWinter Olympics venues adopted CO2 instead of Freon as a refrigerant in ice-making, which will reduce carbon dioxide emissions greatly.“We believe these technological innovations will bring Beijing 2022 to spectators all over the world in a more impressive way,” told Gao Bo from the Media Operations Department of the Organizing Committee of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games.8.What is the result of impurities in water for ice-making?A.The water isn't able to freeze completely.B.The quality of the ice will be affected.C.The ice surface will be more consistent.D.It's likely for athletes to fall on the ice.9.Why has CO2 cooling technology been applied for the Winter Olympic Games?A.It's the most advanced technologies for ice-making.B.CO2 is more efficient than other refrigerants.C.CO2 is more environmentally-friendly than Freon.D.CO2 has already existed in the atmosphere.10.What is Gao Bo's attitude to CO2 being applied to ice-making?A.Unclear.B.Opposed.C.Doubtful.D.Favourable. 11.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text?A.The Beijing Winter Olympic Games Is Coming.B.Beneath Olympic Ice.C.The Use of Refrigerants in Olympic Games.D.The Structure of Ice.参考答案1.B2.C3.D4.A【分析】本文是一篇说明文。
