I am sure that some poetic license was taken when making the film (I especially wonder if the little brother could be THIS precocious and adorable), but overall they did a good job of sticking reasonably close the facts. While I loved Sandra Bullock's performance (she's great as usual), I was a bit surprised that she received Oscar for it--I did see a few performances in other films that year that I thought were a bit better (such as the leading young lady in “Precious”). Also, Tim McGr aw, while a lesser role in the film, did a surprisingly good job--especially as he's really known as a country singer, not an actor. His dad Mufasa is the king of the Pride Lands. Simba's uncle Scar is very jealous and wants to be king instead of Mufasa. Scar comes up with an evil plan to get rid of Mufasa and Simba so he can become king. I don't want to spoil too much of the movie for those who haven't seen it, but really sad things happen and Simba ends up running away from the Pride Lands and his home after his dad passes away.While Simba is living out in the wilderness, he meets two new friends - Timon the meerkat and Pumbaa the warthog. They teach Simba about their "hakuna matata" way of life, which means no worries! Simba grows up in the jungle with Timon and Pumbaa having no responsibilities or duties. Can you imagine having to walk that far all by yourself with no parents or anyone to help you? It would be really scary!The movie started off with this family going on vacation to the countryside. They had a big old yellow dog named Bodger, a funny little terrier called Luath, and a very sassy Siamese cat whose name was Tao. I thought the animals were so cute and funny, especially the cat who was always giving the dogs attitude. Like when Luath wanted to play and the cat just looked at him like "Are you kidding me right now?" My cat Whiskers does that to our dog Rufus all the time and it cracks me up!Anyway, so the family went on their trip and had to leave the pets at this ranch with this mean old rancher guy. As soon as the family left, Bodger started crying and whining because he missedthem so much. It made me really sad to see him so upset. I was so relieved when they turned the corner on their street and saw their house! But then I got really sad again because the family had moved away while they were gone.
