If the ram has been or suspected to have been subjected to a shock load (a load dropped suddenly, unexpectedly upon it), discontinue use until checked out by an authorized factory service center. Owners and operators of this equipment shall be aware that the use and subsequent repair of this equipment may require special training and knowledge. It is recommended that an annual inspection be done by qualified personnel and that any missing or damaged parts, decals, warning / safety labels or signs be replaced with factory authorized replacement parts only. Any kit that appears to be damaged in any way, is worn or operates abnormally shall be removed from service immediately until such time as repairs can be made. Labels and Owners Manuals are available from manufacturer (see Replacement Parts, pages 6, 7).PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONKTI Body Repair Kits are designed to be used for pushing, spreading, and pressing of vehicle body panels as well as various component parts and assemblies. A variety of attachments are included. Pumps are rated from 8,000 to 10,000 PSI. Rams are rated from 4 to 10 tons.WARNING: when extension tubes and/or offset attachments are used, the rated capacity is always reduced by 50 % for each tube or attachment connected. See Parts Section for identification of "offset" attachments.SPECIFICATIONSGENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION1. Ensure that attachments are fully engaged before applying load.2. Ensure that load is centrally applied to attachment or ram saddle. Do not load off center.3. Always monitor the force applied to workpiece by using a load cell and indicator or you may monitor pressure developed in the ram by using an inline pressure gauge, then calculate the applied force using the formula:F = P x A, where F = lbs force, P = pressure in PSI,and A = effective ram area in in². Ram Area of KTI-63705 is: 0.998 in² Ram Area of KTI-63711 is: 2.431 in²4. If bowing or bending of ram or any attachment occurs during use, "STOP", release pressureimmediately and reconsider application. Application may not be compatible with product, a ram kit with a higher capacity may be needed.BEFORE USE (refer to Figure 1)1. Inspect before each use. Do not use if bent, broken, leaking or damaged components are noted.2. Ensure that product and application are compatible.3. Check to ensure that all parts of your kit are included (see illustration and parts list).4. Carefully remove the dust caps and plugs from hose coupler and ram coupler.5. Connect hose coupler to ram coupler, ensure that there are no fluid leaks.6. Locate and open release valve. Pump handle a few strokes to purge air from system. Close release valve and pump handle until ram is fully extended, then open release valve until ram has fully retracted.7. With pump in normal, horizontal position, locate and open oil filler screw (located centrally on reservoir body). This will aid in the release of air trapped within the reservoir. Retighten the oil filler screw.8. If using air actuated units, an air source of at least 7.8 CFM @ 90psi is required.• Study, understand, and follow all instructions provided with and on this device before use.• Do not exceed rated capacity.• Use only on hard, level surfaces capable of sustaining rated capacity loads.• Do not open oil filler screw unless ram is fully retracted.• Always wear safety glasses when using this equipment.• Do not use as a vehicle lifting device or as a vehicle support.• When extension tubes and/or offset attachments are used, the rated capacity is always reduced by 50% for each tube or attachment connected.• Any attachment that is not loaded centrally, as through the centerline of the ram, is considered to be "offset". See parts section for identification of offset atachments.• Do not modify this device.• Failure to heed these markings may result in personal injury and/or property damage.WARNINGFigure 1- KTI-63705 and KTI-63711 NomenclatureOPERATIONNote: Inspect before each use for evidence of fluidleaks, damaged hydraulic fittings, bent or brokenattachments and missing parts.1. Locate and close release valve by turning itclockwise until firmly closed. (Do not over tighten)2. Operate by pumping handle. This will send fluidfrom the pump reservoir into the high pressure hoseassembly and into the ram assembly.3. Continue pumping until ram reaches desired height. To Release Pressure on work piece:Slowly, carefully turn the release valvecounterclockwise until ram retracts to desiredposition. Never turn release valve more than1/2 full turn. The ram return system is springloaded.MAINTENANCEImportant: Use only a good grade hydraulic jack oil.We recommend Mobil DTE 13M or equivalent.Reinstall oil filler screw. Avoid mixing different types offluid and Never use brake fluid, turbine oil, transmission fluid, motor oil or glycerin. Improper fluidcan cause premature failure of the ram and thepotential for sudden and immediate loss of load.3. Set pump in its level upright position.4. Fill with good quality oil to within 3/8" of the oil fillerscrew hole opening. Reinstall oil filler screw.LubricationA coating of light lubricating oil to pivot points andhinges will help to prevent rust and assure thatpump assemblies move freely.CleaningPeriodically check the pump piston and ram for signsof rust or corrosion. Clean as needed and wipe with anoily cloth.Note: Never use sandpaper or abrasive material onthese surfaces !StorageWhen not in use, store with the pump piston and ramfully retracted.TROUBLESHOOTING* "Bleeding off" means that jack begins to slowly lower rather than keep load at height.ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTYFor a period of one (1) year from date of purchase, KTI, will repair or replace, at its option, without charge, any of its products which fails due to a defect in material or workmanship, or which fails to conform to any implied warranty not excluded hereby.Performance of any obligation under this warranty may be obtained by returning the warranted product, freight prepaid, to K-Tool International 31111 Wixom Rd. SKF PreSet 拆卸和重建指南说明书
SKF Rebuild Kit for PreSet ® HubsWarning: This SKF Rebuild Kit must only be used to service PreSet ® hubs manufactured by Consolidated Metco. Any other use is strictly prohibited. This Rebuild Kit provides the necessary components to rebuild a PreSet hub. The kit contains the following components: SKF half-stand inner and outer bearing set, Scotseal PlusXL wheel seal, OEM bearing spacer and SKF brand hub cap. When rebuilding a PreSet hub, be sure to follow all notes and cautions in this document to avoid the risk of personal injury or property damage, and realize these statements are not exhaustive.Caution: PreSet hub assemblies use specially toleranced bearing assemblies. Do not attempt to rebuilda PreSet hub using standard bearings.Removal and disassembly Never work under a vehicle supported by a jack without supporting the vehicle with stands and blocking the wheels.Step 1. Prepare the axle for disassembly by using a jack to raise the axle until the wheels are off the ground and the axle is supported properly.Step 2. Remove the wheels, brake drum or disc brake pads and caliper and hub assembly from the spindle.Step 3. Clean the spindle. It may be necessary to remove the inner portion of the seal from the spindle. Use emery cloth, if necessary, to remove rust or build-up from the seal journal of the spindle.Step 4. Disassemble the hub by removing the seal, bearing cones and bearing cups from the hub. Verify that the hub is a PreSet by noting the presence of a spacer between the inner and outer bearings. If present, continue following instructions below. If not, refer to TMC Recommended Practice 618 (RP618) found in SKF TFO manual 457975 for bearing adjustment procedure.Use caution not to damage the ABS ring. Bearing cups in an iron hub may be pressed out using a hydraulic press. Bearing cups should not be pressed out of an aluminum hub. Remove the bearing cup from aluminum hubs by welding a bead around the face of the bearing cup. Be sure to know and follow safety practices related to welding (see Figure 1).Allow the weld to cool for around 15 minutes. T ake care not to damage the bearing bore. Thiswill cause the bearing cup to shrink and will not damage the bearing bore of the hub when the bearing cup is removed.Step 5. Clean the hub thoroughly. Be sure to clean the wheel and brake drum or brake rotor mounting surfaces of the hub along with the inside of the hub assembly.Re-assembly and installationStep 6. Install the new bearing cups into the hub. Bearing cups can be pressed into an iron hub using a hydraulic press. Aluminum hubs should be expanded before the bearing cup is pressed in. This can be done by heating the hub to 180 to 200 degrees F in either hot water or an oven. Do not attempt to heat the hub with a torch. Hint: Cooling cups will facilitate installation.Check with a .002” feeler gage to insure that the bearing cup is properly seated in the hub.Step 7. Place the hub, seal end up, on a clean work bench surface.NOTE:If you are working on a drive or trailer hub, go to step 9. If you are working on a steer hub, proceed as follows.Step 8. For steer hubs, install the tubular bearing spacer with the tapered end down (see Figure 2).Step 9. Lubricate the inner bearing cone with the proper wheel end lubricant and install it into the inner bearing cup (see Figure 3).Step 10. Lubricate the seal outer diameter and the hub seal bore with wheel end lubricant.Step 11. Position the seal in the hub bore.Step 12. Hand press the seal evenly into the bore. If additional force is needed, use a flat plate and a rubber mallet to install the seal (see Figure 4 on next page).Step 13. Check to be certain the seal is not cocked and that the seal inner diameter and the inner bearing turn smoothly (there may be some resistance due to seal drag).(Continued on back)Figure 1. Welding a bead onthe face of the bearing cupFigure 2. Bearing cone assembly for steer hub Figure 3. Bearing coneassembly for drive hubRe-assembly and installation—cont.Step 14. Allow the seal to set 5 minutes before proceeding. Lubricate the inner diameter of the seal with a light film ofclean wheel end lubricant.Failure to lubricate the inner diameter of the seal, and the seal journal, may result in premature seal failure.Step 15. T urn the hub over, and place itseal end down. For all drive and trailer hubs, install the spacer. If the spacer has a tapered end, it should face towards the outboard end of the hub (see Figure 5).Step 16. For drive hubs, lubricate the outer bearing cone with the proper wheel hub lubricant and install it into the hub assembly (see Figure 6).Step 17. For steer and trailer hubs, install the outer bearing cone into the hub and hold it in place while the hub assembly is placed onto the spindle (see Figure 7).Step 18. For one-piece spindle nut systems like the Pro-T orq ® or Axilok ®, torque the nut to a minimum of 300 ft. lbs. Do not back off the spindle nut. Engage any locking device that is partof the spindle nut system. If the locking device cannot be engaged when the nutis at 300 ft. lbs., advance the nut untilengagement takes place and the nut is locked. If a double nut or jam nut system is being used, torque the inner nut to 300 ft. lbs. Do not back off the spindle nut. Advance the inner nut, if necessary, to install the locking ring. Install the outer nut to 200 ft. lbs. of torque. Be sure to engage any locking device. ConMet does not recommend a one-piece “castellated” type nut system for use with PreSet hubs.Step 19. Install the hubcap or drive axle. For hub cap installations, be sure to use fastening bolts provided. Thread all bolts loosely, then tighten bolts uniformly in a star pattern to 12-16 ft. lbs.Step 20. Fill the hub assembly with the proper amount of lubricant. Front hubs should be lubricated through the fill plug in the hubcap. T railer hubs lubricated with oil can be lubricated through the fill plug in the hubcap. Semi-fluid grease can be installed through the fill plug in the barrel of the hub. Special attention should be paid to insure that the hub is filled with the proper amount of semi-fluid grease and that both the hub and lubricant are at 60°F or above (see volume chart below).Semi-fluid grease volumesHub Hub Casting Volume type material numbers (fl. oz.) If a fill plug is not present, lift each side of the axle eight inches and hold it up for two minutes to allow lubricant to flow from the carrier into the hub. The carrier should be full to the proper level before beginning this procedure and should be refilled after the axle is lowered.Step 21. Install the brake drum or disc brake caliper.Step 22. Install the wheels. T orque the wheel bolt nuts in a star pattern to 450 to 500 ft. lbs. You should not over torque the nuts as this may cause the hub to crack under load. Wheel nuts should be re-torqued in 50 to 100 miles.SKF PreSet Rebuild Kit part numbersPreSet hub assembly SKF kit part number FF Front Steer Axle FFSK1 FL Front Steer AxleN/AR-Series Drive Axle RDSK1 (Low profile seal)RDSK2 (Standard profile seal) TN T railer Axle TNSK1 (Oil bath hubcap)TNSK2 (Grease hubcap) TN T railer Axle TPSK1 (Oil bath hubcap)TPSK2 (Grease hubcap)Figure 4.
