She was always curious about how things worked and asking questions. School was really important to her. In those days in Poland, universities didn't accept many women as students. So when Marie finished school, she had to take illegal secret classes to keep learning science and math.When she was 24 years old, Marie went to study at the University of Paris in France. That's where she met a scientist named Pierre Curie. They fell in love and got married in 1895. Pierre was impressed by how smart and dedicated Marie was.
