a determined person= a person of great determination 一个有决心的人as a result of sth 作为…的结果,由于as a result 结果,因此It wasn’t his fault.不是他的错。

find fault with sb 挑某人的错/对…吹毛求疵in this manner /by this means/ in this way/ with this method 以这种方式in a … manner 以…样的方式It’s good/ bad manners to do sth 做某事很有 /没有礼貌turn into a horrible argument 演变成激烈的争吵turn … into把…变成…turn to sb for help/advice 向…求助/求教accuse sb of / charge sb with sth指责、控告…be accused of/charged with cheating因剽窃被起诉feel guilty about/over losing the match 对输掉比赛感到愧疚 be / feel guilty of sth 犯有…的罪I dislike seeing our team lose.我不想眼睁睁看着我们的球队输球。

It作形式宾语的几个特殊结构:(1) v. + it + when( 如:enjoy/like/dislike/love/hate/prefer);v. +it + if(如:appreciate)(2) v. +it+ that: I take it that…我认为You can put it that…你可以这样说 (as sb puts it 正如…所说…)(3) v. + it + 介词短语+ that:b ring it to one’s attention that…使…注意…;take it for granted that…想当然owe it to sb that…多亏了 I owe it to you that I finished my work in time. 我能及时完成工作多亏了你。

(4) v. +介词+ it + that 从句:depend on/ rely on /count on it that…相信,指望; see to it that …确保;remark on/upon sth= make remarks on sth 就某事做出评论make such cruel remarks about sb 讲关于某人的如此残忍的话sb cannot help doing sth情不自禁做某事; can’t help (to) do sth不能帮忙做某事be as gifted at/in football as you are与你一样在足球方面有天赋; have a gift for sth有…方面的天赋a gifted/talented student 一个有天赋的学生be sensitive to sth善解人意的,体恤的 It made me much more sensitive to the needs of the disabled.这使得我更加体恤残疾人的需求。

(2) (感情)敏感的,容易生气的She is sensitive about/to her weight. 她对她的体重很敏感.(3) 敏感的,易受影响的Older people tend to be more sensitive to the cold. 老人更易受寒冷天气的影响。

have every right to do…完全有权利做某事;have every reason to do…有充分理由做某事You have every reason to believe that she is to succeed. 你有充分理由相信她肯定会成功。

make every effort to do sth 不遗余力做某事If you still have doubts, think abou t why you don’t believe her.如果你仍有疑问,那么就想想为什么你不相信她。

I have no doubt that he will succeed. There is no doubt that he will succeed.I doubt whether/if…我怀疑I don’t doubt that…我不怀疑Do you doubt that…你对…有疑问吗?if / when (you are) in doubt 如你无把握,如你有怀疑(用于建议):If in doubt, consult your doctor. 如果你有疑问,请咨询你的医生。
