It kind of reminds me of a mall or airport terminal because it's so big and open.The atrium is where we have special assemblies and events sometimes. They pull out these retractable bleacher seats and we all gather in there. It's also where we walk through the lunch lines to get our food from the cafeteria. The cafeteria is directly off the atrium and it's absolutely massive - it has to be to feed all 800 kids in our school!My Favorite PlacesMy absolute favorite place in the whole school is probably the library. It's this quiet, cozy room with shelf after shelf of books lining the walls. There are also tons of beanbags and comfy chairs scattered around to curl up and read in. Sometimes they even have automated checkout stations so you don't have to wait in line. I love getting lost amongst the stacks, running my fingers along the spines and finding my next literary adventure.Another cool spot is the STEM lab. It's a big room full of computers, 3D printers, robotics kits, and all kinds of high-tech equipment. We use it for our coding, engineering, and robotics classes and clubs. It's crazy how many choices there are compared to the stereotypical gloopy slop people expect from school cafeterias.They've also gotten really into sustainability, so a lot of the ingredients are locally-sourced and organic. And they've got a whole system in the dish room for separating out compostable stuff from recycling and landfill trash. I have to say, their little pizza bagels are my absolute weakness. It's dangerous how good those are!What I Love About LakesideIn the end, I feel so lucky and grateful to go to a school like Lakeside. Yes, we get an excellent academic experience and education, but it's more than that. The teachers really care. The facilities are amazing. And there are so many incredible extracurricular opportunities for us to dive deeper into our interests and passions.Most importantly though, there's such an amazing sense of community and school spirit. Between the pep rallies, sporting events, performing arts shows, and special events, there are so many ways for the whole student body to come together and bond over our shared Lakeside experience. I've made some of my best friends here and developed a real sense of belonging.It sounds cheesy, but I have Lakeside pride. This school has given me so much over the past couple years in terms of knowledge, experiences, and personal growth. I'll be so sad when I eventually have to leave for high school!
