Do you hear of the world’s largest pizza restaurant chain? Pizza Hut is the world’s largest restaurant chain with 300,000 employees in more than 100 countries.
Pizza Hut was founded in 1958 by two American brothers –Dan and Frank Carney from Kansas. Borrowing $ 600 from their mother, the two college students took a family pizza recipe and opened a restaurant. The restaurant was so small that it had only enough room for 25 seats. The restaurant sign only had space for nine letters. Frank and Dan wanted to have ‘ Pizza’ in the name, and it left space for just 3 more letters. Because the building looked like a hut … Pizza Hut was born!
The small restaurant , however was a big success. It became so popular that the two brothers soon open several other restaurants. By 1970, there were over 300 Pizza Hut restaurants in the US.
Today, Pizza Hut can be seen all over the world. Based on the country and the culture of its people, it often offers different items on its menu. Pizza Hut’s specialty is American—style pizza. The most common food at the restaurants is the Pan Pizza Pan Pizza has ticker crust than most other pizzas. It comes in different sizes such as Small, Medium and Large.
The first Pizza Hut restaurant in China was opened on December 1,
1999 in Beijing. Pizza Hut grows so fast that it has at least 200 restaurants in more than 50 Chinese cities!
