Backs should only be installed by an authorized Sunrise Medical supplier.THE JAY ZIP BACKThe JAY Zip Back is designed to provide the important benefits of a proper back support for a wide variety of pediatric users. It is designed to provide simple, comfortable and effective support to help maximize function and increase sitting tolerance. In addition, it is light-weight, durable and easy to use.Maximum user weight: 165 lbsWARNINGInstalling a back support on a wheelchair may affect the center of gravity of the wheelchair and may cause the wheelchair to tip backwards potentially resulting in injury.Always assess for the potential need for anti-tippers or amputee axle adapter brackets to be added to the wheelchair to help increase stability.WARNINGDo not use the back to push or lift wheelchair.Improper use may cause the back to unexpectedly detach from the wheelchair.WARNINGDo not use the back handle to lift wheelchair. It is intended only for back removal.ShellFoam & Inner Cover(reversed to show zipper)Outer CoverLumbar Positioning ComponentHardware ReceiversMAINTENANCESunrise recommends that all fasteners be checked for wear, such as loose bolts or broken components every 6 months. Loose fasteners should be retightened according to the installation instructions. All fasteners should be tightened to torque specifications as stated in the hardware installation section. Contact your authorized Sunrise Medical supplier immediately to replace any broken components. Do not continue to use the system after identifying loose or broken components.NOTE–Wrench has been included with the back for your convenience. EASY CLEANINGNOTE–When disassembling the back for cleaning, note the position of the Velcro® Lumbar Positioning Components for correctreassembly.T o clean back coverRemove cover by detaching Velcro. Detach cover from back shell. Locate zipper on bottom of the cover and unzip. Remove foam with inner cover and turn cover inside out. Zip cover closed to avoid snagging. Machine wash in warm water (50°C). Drip or tum-ble dry on low heat.NOTE: Do not dry clean covers or use industrial washers and dryers to clean cover. Do not steam autoclave. Do not bleach.Reinsert the foam with inner cover into the cover. Please note, the base has two layers of foam. When reinserting the foam, ensure that the thinner, firmer, light grey foam is facing the shell and the softer foam is facing the user. Once the foam is secured inside the cover, zip cover closed.T o clean back shell and Inner CoverShell and inner cover may be wiped clean with soap and water.No other maintenance should be required.T o clean positioning componentsPositioning components can be wiped clean with soap and water. Do not immerse positioning components underwater.If you have any additional questions regarding cleaning procedures, please contact your authorized Sunrise Medical dealer.DETERMINING COMPA TIBILITYWheelchair T ypesThe Zip Back is designed to be compatible with most wheelchairs with the following exceptions:Wheelchairs that are angularly adjustable, recline or tilt and result in a back angle greater than 60 degrees from the vertical should not be used.WARNINGUse with these types of wheelchairs may cause theback to accidentally disconnect from the wheelchairresulting in a fall and the potential for serious injury.Wheelchair DimensionsThe JAY Zip back is designed to replace the wheelchair’s sling upholstery. Prior to installation determine if the wheelchair used has compatible back canes, by measuring the width between your back canes as seen in Figure 1. Then using that measurement, check Table 1 to determine if the back will fit your chair.Next check that the back canes are a compatible diameter. The Zip back hardware can be mounted on wheelchair back canes that measure in diameter 3/4" (with insert), 7/8" (with insert) or1" (no insert). (Figure 2)If you cannot determine that the back canes are compatible please contact your authorized Sunrise Medical provideror Sunrise Medical customer service.* Back Width is identified in your back’s part number. Example: JZIPB10S is a 10" wide back.Figure 3 INST ALLING THE MOUNTINGHARDWAREPlease read the following instructions before beginning installation.T o install the JAY Zip Back, begin without the user in the wheel-chair. Once the back has been installed and minor adjustments areneeded the user can be seated back in the wheelchair.T ool required (included)10mm wrenchHardware Installation Instructions (Fig. 3)1.Remove the existing wheelchair back according to thewheelchair manufacturer’s instructions.2.Visually determine the desired location of the receivers onthe wheelchair’s back canes. The mounting hardware shouldbe at approximately equal heights on each back post and par-allel to the seat frame. Higher locations on the back canesare generally better.3.Attach the hardware receivers.a.Loosen the clamp screws (A) with the enclosed 10 mmwrench. NOTE–For large tube diameters, clamp screwsmay have to be removed completely.b.Attach and align receiver to the wheelchair back canes.c.Hand tighten clamp screws (A). NOTE– Receivers mayrequire additional lateral adjustment to ensure properalignment.Attaching and Aligning the Back Shell (Figs. 3, 4)a.Loosen bracket nuts (B) and mounting pin bolts (C) using10mm wrench until hardware can move easily in all direc-tions.b.Attach the Zip Back to the hardware receivers by insert-ing left and right mounting hooks (D) in the left and rightreceivers (E).c.Locate back to the approximate location, relative to bothchair and user.d.Tighten bolts on the inside of the mounting hooks (D).The recommended torque specification is 100 - 110 in-lbs. (11.3 - 12.4 Nm). NOTE– Back depth and angle mayrequire additional adjustment to ensure proper fit to theuser.e.Tighten bracket nuts (B). The recommended torquespecification is 75 - 85 in-lbs. (8.5 - 9.3 Nm). NOTE–Back height may require additional adjustment to ensureproper fit to the user.f. T est back release by pulling down on back release handleand removing the back off the chair. (See Removal andReplacement section for further details.) Proper align-ment of the mounting hardware and back is achievedwhen smooth attachment and release can be easily done.g.If proper alignment has not been achieved, adjust thecomponents until properly aligned.h.Once properly aligned, tighten the hardware receiverclamp screws. The recommended torque specification is75 - 85 in-lbs (8.5 - 9.3 Nm).ABCFigure 4AEDADJUSTING JAY ZIP HEIGHT, DEPTH AND ANGLEWith the user in the chair, modify the back height, depth, and angle to meet the unique requirements of the user. Do not have the user apply full pressure on the back as it is not fully tightened to the full torque requirements.1. Height Adjustment (Fig. 3)a.With the user in the chair, identify the desired height of theback. Once identified, have the user remove pressure fromthe Zip back by leaning or sliding partially forward if possibleto allow the adjustment to take place.b.Loosen the bracket nuts (B) and adjust the height of the backshell to required position.c.Securely tighten the bracket nuts (B). The recommendedtorque specification is 75-85 in-lbs. (8.5 - 9.3 Nm).NOTE–After height adjustment is complete, check that the width was not inadvertently changed.2. Depth/Angle Adjustment (Fig. 3)Hardware allows for 1.6 inches of anterior depth adjustment, 3 inches with reversing hardware.a.T o adjust back depth and angle loosen left and right bolts (C)on bracket slots.b.Adjust depth and/or angle and securely tighten. The recom-mended torque specification is 100-110 in-lbs. (11.3 - 12.4Nm). Ensure that none of the depth adjustment nuts (C) willslip or rotate.WARNINGEnsure that all hardware has been properly tightened once all adjustments have been completed and theZip Back is ready for use.Figure 3ABCBACK TRANSIT SAFETYThis back has been dynamically tested for use in a motor vehicle. Please follow all installation, use and maintenance instructions with-in this manual as well as the transit instructions listed below.WARNINGS1.If possible and feasible, the rider should transfer to theOriginal Equipment Manufacturer vehicle seat and usethe vehicle restraints.2.The distance between the top of the user’s shoulder andthe top of the back shell should not exceed 3" (7.6 cm).3.The wheelchair must be labeled as appropriate for useas a seat in a motor vehicle, dynamically tested to theperformance requirements of ISO Standard 7176-19and installed, used and maintained according to themanufacturer’s instructions.4.If the original wheelchair seat was replaced, the new seatmust be approved for wheelchair transit, installed andused as indicated in the manufacturer’s instructions.5.The Wheelchair Tiedown and Occupant RestraintSystem (WTORS) should be compatible with the spe-cific wheelchair, used as indicated in the manufactur-er’s instructions and should comply with the perform-ance requirements of ISO Standard 10542.6.The wheelchair must be forward facing during transport.7.In order to reduce the potential of injury to vehicleoccupants wheelchair-mounted accessories such astrays and respiratory equipment should be removedand secured separately.8.This product is intended for use by users ranging inweight from 25 to 165 lbs.9.Postural support devices such as pelvic positioningbelts, anterior trunk supports or postural supportssuch as lateral trunk supports should not be relied onfor occupant restraint in a moving vehicle unless theyare labeled as conforming to ISO Standard 16840-4. 10.Alterations or substitutions should not be made to thestructure, parts or components, without consulting the manufacturer.WARNINGFAILURE TO HEED THESE WARNINGS COULD CAUSE SEVERE INJURY TO THE WHEELCHAIR RIDER OR OTHERS.REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENTRemovalFollowing installation and adjustment, the back can be easilyremoved from the wheelchair if necessary. T o remove, pull down on back handle, rotate up, then remove from the hardware receivers.Proper reattachment after removalT o reattach the back to the hardware receivers, pull down on cord,insert back into receivers, and rotate down.WARNINGIf you are uncertain if you have heard the locking“click”, pull up on the back to ensure that it has been securely locked.Claims and repairs should be processed through the nearestauthorized supplier. Except for express warranties made herein, all other warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability and warranties of fitness for a particular purpose are excluded.There are not warranties which extend beyond the description on the face hereof. Remedies for breach of express warranties herein are limited to repair or replacement of the goods. In no event shall damages for breach of any warranty include any consequential damages or exceed the cost of non-conforming goods sold.24 MONTH LIMITED WARRANTYEach JAY Zip Back is carefully inspected and tested to provide peak performance. Every JAY Zip Back is guaranteed to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 24 months from the date of purchase, provided normal use. Should a defect in materials or workmanship occur within 24 months from the origi-nal date of purchase, Sunrise Medical will, at its option, repair or replace it without charge. This warranty does not apply to punc-tures, tears or burns, nor to the back’s removable cover.。

INTRODUCTION:On some applications of threaded fasteners, it is desirable to control the amount of developed tension when a specified range of torque has been applied or the torque required to develop a specified range of tension. Accurate torque-tension relationships can be achieved only by uniquely defining and controlling the many related assembly parameters. One of the more significant parameters is the frictional characteristic of the selected fastener finish.2. SCOPE:This standard provides a test method for determining the torque-tension relationship of a fastener finish as applied to a surrogate screw for the purpose of measuring the frictional characteristic of the fastener finish. The results obtained by this test shall be used as a process control attribute of the fastener finish and shall not be utilized for specific applications.3. TEST MATERIAL:3.1 Surrogate Screw:M10 X 1.5 6e6g surrogate screws conforming to the general requirements of ASME 18.2.3.1M (ISO 4014), except underhead fillet designed such that fillet does not interfere with test washer holediameter, and heat treated in accordance with ASTM F568 (ISO 898-1), Property Class 10.9, shall be used to evaluate applicable fastener finishes. Decarburization of the screw threads shall be within the limits defined in SAE J121M (ISO 898-1), Class 3/4 H.Threads shall conform to ASME B1.13M (ISO 965/1), class 6e6g tolerances and confirmed by ASME B1.3M, System 22 before coating; and class 6h tolerances and confirmed by ASME B1.3M, System 21 after coating. Threads on all surrogate screws shall be rolled. The thread surface shall be free of burrs or other contamination that might affect an accurate determination of the frictional performance of the finish.The screw length shall be such that a minimum of two full form threads protrude through the test nut when the screw is fully seated against the test washer. The thread length shall be such that a minimum of two full form threads are exposed within the grip length after the bolt is fully seated. TEST EQUIPMENT:Test Equipment shall conform to test equipment defined in SAE/USCAR-10, Test for Evaluating the Torque-Tension Relationship of Both External and Internal Metric Threaded Fasteners.5. TEST PROCEDURE:5.1 Loosely assemble the surrogate screw, the appropriate test nut and test washer into the fixture. The parts are to be installed such that the surrogate screw can be driven by the drive tool and the screw’s bearing surface rotates against the test washer. The test washer shall be prevented from turning during rundown. Adjust the grip length of the test fixture such that when the parts are fully seated, the surrogate screw protrudes a minimum of two full form threads through the test nut.5.2 Set the power tool shut off at a tension value of approximately 1.0% greater than the specified clamp load value of 36.1 kN, 75% of proof load for a M10 X 1.5 property class 10.9 fastener. Tighten the joint by driving the surrogate screw with the power tool at a continuous speed of 10 to 40 RPM. Both torque and tension are to be continuously recorded during rundown. New components shall be used for each test.6. DATA ANALYSIS:6.1 Sample Size:The sample size shall be as specified or as agreed to between the manufacturer and purchaser.6.2 Results:Torque shall be statistically analyzed to produce mean and 3 sigma limits at the specified tension. Control charts of the test results shall also be maintained for each applicable fastener finish. In a crash, certainly the last thing you should be worried about is saving the threaded inserts in your frame. However, when you are storing or transporting your bike, take steps to prevent situations where a water bottle may be hit or bumped by a strong force that would cause damage. Remove bottle and cage when you are packing your bike for travel.Periodically check the attachment of the bottle cage; tighten the cage bolts if necessary. Don’t ride with a loose bottle cage. Riding with loose cage bolts can produce a rocking motion or vibration of the attached cage. A loose cage will damage the insert and possibly lead to the inserts to pull out.It may be possible to repair a loose insert, or install another insert only if the frame is undamaged.Replacement requires the use of a special tool. If you notice damage to the threaded insert, please ask your Cannondale Dealer for help.Building Up A Frame SetBefore building up a frame set, consult with yourCannondale Dealer and the component manufacturers, and discuss your riding style, ability, weight, and interest in and patience for maintenance.Make sure the components chosen are compatible with your bike and intended for your weight and riding style. Execesssive play, roughness or corrossion indicates a damaged bearing.RemovalTo avoid serious damage to the frame, it is important to remove bearing systems very carefully using proper tools indicated by the manufacture’s service instructions. Make sure the bearings(cup or adpter parts) are driven out squarely and evenly from inside the shell Do not pry components from shell.ReplacementPressFit BB30 bearings are not removable from theadapters or cup systems that are pressed into the frame bottom bracket shell. Therefore, damaged bearingsmust be removed and replaced as new entire sets. Before installing any new bearing units into the shell, thoroughly clean the inside surface of the bottom bracket shell with a clean dry shop towel. Also, make sure both bearing units and the BB shell surfaces are clean and dry. Do not apply grease to either.Follow the manufacture’s instruction for assembly and installation of the bearing system. Use a headset press such as Park Tool HHP-2. See /product/bearing-cup-press-HHP-2 Select appropriate press and adapters to ensure that force is only applied to the cup and not the bearing inside. Press until the both cup flanges are mated to the BB shell edge.Seat Post MaintenancePeriodically, remove the seat post and the clampassembly to clean, inspect for damage and re-new the application of grease and carbon gel.RemovalTo remove the seat post, use a 4mm Allen key to turn the wedge bolt counter-clockwise to loosen it. When bolt is loose simply lift the seat post up out of the seat tube. Then lift out the wedge assembly out of the frame socket.InstallationBefore inserting the seat post into the frame, use a clean shop towel to wipe out any residual carbon gel paste from the inside the seat tube. Do not use any spray cleaners or solvents. Apply fresh carbon friction gel to the seat post and place a little bit inside the seat tube. Clean the wedge assembly and lightly grease the parts. Insert the loosened asembly into the frame, then carefully insert the seat post into the frame. Set the saddle height, and tighten the clamp bolt to the specified torque with a torque wrench.Insert Limit & Sizing a Seat PostThe minimum insert depth the seat post must beinserted into the frame is 100mm. This length is marked by a line on the seat post.The total length of seat post that may be inserted will vary with the frame size and should be checked in each frame. A large size frame will accomodate more seat post length than a smaller size frame.To check the depth, carefully slide a seat post into theframe until it stops; then lift it up 5mm.If the seat post must be cut, use a cutting guide and a carbon saw blade. Lightly sand the edges of the cut seat tube with light sandpaper. Re-mark the minimum insertline on the post.Seat Tube AngleThe effective seat tube angle recorded in the geometry chart is measured to the seat post head midpoint.
