本课时属于语篇教学的范畴。
根据教材的编写体系，该部分内容为学生英语兴趣阅读的部分，目的是让学生通过学习本课时理解该语篇的意思，并且在该语篇中运用前两课时的所学语言，对如何过重阳节进行阐述，从而提高学生的语言运用能力。
我今天执教的这个单元的主题是grandparents。
在本单元中，学生通过文本的学习能利用一般现在时I often/usually/always…在语篇中熟练表达自己的想法。
通过学习动词短语write an e-mail, go shopping, play chess等来描述自己平时是如何和爷爷奶奶一起生活的。
学生通过How often do you visit them?来询问别人拜访爷爷奶奶的频率。
并且可以运用句型I visit themonce/twice a week.等，来熟练表达自己拜访爷爷奶奶的频率。
基于对上述单元教学目标的认识我将该单元分成四个教时。
第一和第二教时着重解决Do you live with your grandparents? How often do you visit them? 以及What do you do with them?学生通过对住与不住两种情况的讨论，可以在语境中熟练的运用动词短语进行回答。
第三课时就是我今天执教的这课，通过对教材文本The Double Ninth Festival的再构，使学生了解在重阳节这一天人们通常会做什么事情。
