Jing Jing has a bunch of animal friends like Hu Hu the tiger, Mao Mao the panda, Xiao Xiao the fox, and Yang Yang the goat. They all live in mushroom houses which I think is so cool! Grey Wolf lives in a cave nearby with his silly sidekick Hunger. But then I remember he wants to gobble up my favorite goat buddies, so I can't feel too bad!My favorite episodes are the ones where the wolf dresses up and tries to trick the goats by pretending to be something else. Like in one episode he disguises himself as an old goat lady selling cookies to try and lure the goats close so he can capture them. But the goats aren't fooled for a second and come up with an even better plan to prank the wolf back! They all dress up too - as a giant green monster, a hunter, a robot, all kinds of crazy things. And when the wolf freaks out, they take off their costumes and start laughing at him. I crack up every time at thewolf's dumbfounded expression when he realizes he's been tricked again!Another thing I love is all the awesome gadgets and inventions that Woolen Crafty Goat creates to fight the wolf. He's made everything from giant robots to laser guns to teleporters to help the goats get away from the wolf's traps. And they move from one crazy gadget to the next, using banana cream pie cannons and rockets and jetpacks. The action scenes are so exciting and have me on the edge of my seat cheering for the goats to make it out okay.But my very favorite part of the show is the slapstick physical comedy. There's just something so funny about seeing the wolf bouncing around after getting hit with a boxing glove or wheel or whatever crazy thing the goats dish out. He'll be tiptoeing up to try and grab a goat, and then WHAM! - get hit in the face with a wooden warrior stick or poked in the butt with a pitchfork. And he'll go flying off-screen, only to bounce right back like a boomerang to try his next harebrained scheme. I have to laugh at his resilience - he just keeps taking those over-the-top cartoon beatings but always manages to survive for more. You'd think after getting hit by so many anvils and explosions he'd justgive up, but his doggedness is part of what makes him a lovable villain.The animation is so bright and colorful and energetic too. I love the way the goats move around quickly, their limbs whirling in a blur as they scamper to escape the wolf's grasp. And the setting of Green Pasture and all the backgrounds are so vividly drawn, like a rainbow exploded onto the screen. It's a visual feast for the eyes on top of being an hilarious comedy.I've watched every single episode at least a dozen times, but Pleasant Goat and Big Bad Wolf still makes me laugh as much as the first time. There's just something about the slapstick, the silliness, the over-the-top cartoony action that tickles my funny bone. Maybe it's because no matter how wacky it gets, I know that goodhearted team of goats will always outwit that bumbling wolf. Or maybe it's just a show that's perfectly setup for maximum laughs and excitement.
