Unit 3 Inventors and inventions Grammar学案Grammar: 过去分词充当定语、表语或宾语补足语Ⅰ.定语作定语用的过去分词相当于形容词,其逻辑主语就是它所修饰的名词。
过去分词作定语分为前置和后置两种情况。
1.前置定语单个的过去分词作定语,通常放在被修饰的名词之前。
由及物动词转化而来的过去分词作定语,表示“被动和完成”含义,或只具有“被动”含义;由不及物动词转化而来的过去分词作定语,只表“完成”含义。
(1)被动和完成含义:☞We must adapt our thinking to the changed conditions.我们必须使我们的思想适应改变了的情况。
(2)被动含义:☞She is a respected teacher.她是一位受人尊敬的老师。
(3)完成含义:☞They are cleaning the fallen leaves in the yard.他们正在打扫院子里的落叶。
2.后置定语过去分词短语作定语时,通常放在所修饰的名词之后,它的作用相当于一个定语从句。
☞This will be the best novel of its kind ever written (=that has ever been written).这将是这类小说中写得最好的。
☞Who were the socalled guests invited (=who had been invited) to your party last night?昨晚被邀请参加你的晚会的那些所谓的客人是谁呀?☞Yesterday I bought a book published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press.昨天我买了一本外语教学与研究出版社出版的书。
Ⅱ.表语过去分词作表语,通常表示主语所处的一种状态。
☞His colleagues were surprised at his absurd behaviour.同事们对他那荒诞的行为感到吃惊。

一. 概述:分词分为现在分词和过去分词。
在句中作定语、状语、表语和宾语补足语。
(一). 分词的作用:1、作定语(1)单个分词作定语,分词前置。
如:The sleeping boy is my son.The excited people rushed into the building.A lost opportunity never returns.He is a retired worker.(2)分词短语作定语,分词后置;分词修饰不定代词something等要后置;个别分词如give,left等作定语也后置。
如:The girl standing under the tree is my niece.The building built last year is our library.This is the question given.There is nothing interesting.(3)过去分词作定语与其修饰的词是被动关系,相当于一个被动语态的定语从句。
如:Most of the people invited to the party were famous scientists2、作表语现在分词作表语多表示主语具有的特征,过去分词作表语多指主语所处的状态。
如:The film is touching.The glass is broken.She looked tired with cooking.He remained standing beside the table.3、作宾语补足语分词和不定式一样,在一些感官动词或使役动词后作宾语补足语。

一作用与用法:过去分词是有形容词和副词的作用,在句中可以用作定语,表语,宾语补足语和状语.1.定语: 过去分词做定语,表示分词的动作与所修饰的名词之间存在被动关系,单一的过去分词做定语一般放在被修饰的名词之前,过去分词短语作定语放在被修饰的名词之后,过去分词及过去分词短语作定语均可以转换为一个定语从句.The broken window (=The window which was broken) will be replaced soon.破损的窗户很快就会被换掉.The books bought yesterday (=which were bought yesterday) are of high quality.昨天买的书确实很不错.过去分词和与其相关的名词、代词之间构成一种"动宾关系",即"被动态"。
过去分词作定语,主要说明"业已完成的动作"或是"一个在以前某个未知时间发生的动作" 。
(1)表示情绪的过去分词作定语:--She threw me a quick, frightened glance.他迅速而惊恐地看了我一眼。
--His face wore a puzzled expression.他脸上有一种困惑的表情。

(1)see, hear, watch, feel, find, observe, notice, look at, listen to等表示感觉和心理 状态的动词。
(3)like, want, wish, order等表示“希望 ,要求”等意义的动词,其后常接宾语+ (to be)done这种形式,to be可省略
