I do not see but a quiet mind may live as contentedly there, and have as cheering thoughts,as in a palace. The town's poor seem to me often to live the most independent lives of any.May be they are simply great enough to receive withoutmisgiving. Most think that they are above being supported by the town;but it often happens that they are not above supporting themselves by dishonest means.which should be more disreputable.

Dream What You Want to DreamThere are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real!Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to make keep you human, enough hope to make you happy.Always put yourself in others’ shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the other person, too.The happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched, and those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives. Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss and ends with a tear. The brightest future will always be based on a forg otten past, you can’t go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you’re the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying. Please send this message to those people who mean something to you, to those who have touched you life in one way or another, to those who make you smile when you really need it, to those that make you see the brighter side of things when you are really down, to those who you want to let them know that you appreciate their friendship. And if you don’t, don’t worry, nothing bad will happen to you, you will just miss out on the opportunity to brighten someone’s day with this message. A friend walks in when the rest of the world walks out."Sometimes in life,You find a special friend;Someone who changes your life just by being part of it.Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop;Someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world.Someone who convinces you that there really is an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it.This is Forever Friendship. When you're down, and the world seems dark and empty,Your forever friend lifts you up in spirits and makes that dark and empty world suddenly seem bright and full.Your forever friend gets you through the hard times, the sad times, and the confused times. If you turn and walk away,Your forever friend follows,If you lose you way,Your forever friend guides you and cheers you on.Your forever friend holds your hand and tells you that everything is going to be okay. And if you find such a friend,You feel happy and complete,Because you need not worry,You have a forever friend for life,And forever has no end.“别人都走开的时候,朋友仍与你在一起。

There was a time when the owners of shops and businesses in Chicago had to pay large sums of money to gangsters in return for 'protection.' If the money was not paid promptly, the gangsters would quickly put a man out of business by destroying his shop. Obtaining 'protection money' is not a modern crime. As long ago as the fourteenth century, an Englishman, Sir John Hawkwood, made the remarkable discovery that people would rather pay large sums of money than have their life work destroyed by gangsters.Six hundred years ago, Sir Johan Hawkwood arrived in Italy with a band of soldiers and settled near Florence. He soon made a name for himself and came to be known to the Italians as Giovanni Acuto. Whenever the Italian city-states were at war with each other, Hawkwood used to hire his soldiers to princes who were willing to pay the high price he demanded. In times of peace, when business was bad, Hawkwood and his men would march into a city-state and, after burning down a few farms, would offer to go away if protection money was paid to them. Hawkwood made large sums of money in this way. In spite of this, the Italians regarded him as a sort of hero. When he died at the age of eighty, the Florentines gave him a state funeral and had a pictured painted which was dedicated to the memory of 'the most valiant soldier and most notable leader, Signor Giovanni Haukodue.'

Title: Striving for Perfection: The Pursuit of Excellence in English Writing。
In the realm of English composition, the quest for perfection is a journey that many embark upon. It is an endeavor that requires dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to continuous improvement. From crafting eloquent prose to mastering grammar and syntax, the pursuit of excellence in English writing is both challenging and rewarding. At the heart of this pursuit lies the desire to communicate effectively and express oneself with clarity and precision. Whether it be in academic essays, creative writing pieces, or professional correspondence, the ability to convey ideas in a compelling manner is paramount. This necessitates not only a strong command of the English language but also an understanding of rhetorical devices, narrative techniques, and stylistic nuances. One aspect of striving for perfection in Englishwriting involves honing one's vocabulary. A rich and varied lexicon enables writers to articulate their thoughts with depth and sophistication. Through reading extensively and actively expanding their vocabulary, writers can enhance their ability to convey subtle nuances of meaning and evoke vivid imagery in the minds of their readers.Furthermore, mastering the intricacies of grammar and syntax is essential for achieving clarity and coherence in writing. A solid grasp of grammatical rules enables writers to construct grammatically correct sentences and avoid common pitfalls such as run-on sentences, fragments, and subject-verb agreement errors. Additionally, an understanding of syntax allows writers to craft sentences that flow smoothly and maintain a logical progression of ideas. In addition to linguistic proficiency, the pursuit of perfection in English writing also entails developing strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Theseskills enable writers to dissect complex topics, evaluate evidence, and construct well-reasoned arguments. By engaging with diverse perspectives and challenging their own assumptions, writers can enrich their writing and contribute meaningfully to ongoing discourse. Moreover, the process of revision is integral to the refinement of written work. Through careful editing and revision, writers can clarify their ideas, eliminate redundancies, and polish their prose. This iterative process allows writers to refine their work until it achieves the desired level of excellence. However, it is important to recognize that perfectionin English writing is ultimately an elusive ideal. Language is dynamic and evolving, and there is always room for growth and improvement. As such, the pursuit of perfection should be viewed as a continual journey rather than a destination. By embracing a growth mindset and remaining open to feedback and constructive criticism, writers can continue to refine their craft and strive for excellence in their writing endeavors. In conclusion, the pursuit of perfection in English writing is a multifaceted endeavor that encompasses linguistic proficiency, critical thinking skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement. By honing their vocabulary, mastering grammar and syntax, developing analytical skills, and embracing the process of revision, writers can strive to achieve excellence in their writing. While perfection may be elusive, the journey of growth and self-improvement is inherently rewarding.。

Ready or not, some day it will all come to an end. There will be no more sunrises, no days, no hours or minutes. All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to someone else.Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance. It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed.Your grudges, resentments, frustrations, and jealousies will finally disappear. So, too, your hopes, ambitions, plans, and to-do lists will all expire. The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away.It won't matter where you came from, or on what side of the tracks you lived. It won't matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant. Your gender, skin color, ethnicity will be irrelevant. So what will matter? How will the value of your days be measured? What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built; not what you got, but what you gave. What will matter is not your success, but your significance. What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught. What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage and sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example. What will matter is not your competence, but your character. What will matter is not how many people you knew, but how many will feel a lasting loss when you're gone. What will matter is not your memories, but the memories of those who loved you. What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what.Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident. It's not a matter of circumstance but of choice.Choose to live a life that matters. Occasionally, life can be undeniably, impossibly difficult.

We can read of things that happened 5,000 years ago in the Near East, where people first learned to write. But there are some parts of the word where even now people cannot write. The only way that they can preserve their history is to recount it as sagas--legends handed down from one generation of another. These legends are useful because they can tell us something about migrations of people who lived long ago,but none could write down what they did.Anthropologists wondered where the remote ancestors of the Polynesian peoples now living in the Pacific Islands came from. The sagas of these people explain that some of them came from Indonesia about 2,000 years ago.But the first people who were like ourselves lived so long ago that even their sagas,if they had any,are forgotten. So archaeologists have neither history nor legends to help them to find out where the first modern men came from.Fortunately, however, ancient men made tools of stone, especially flint, because this is easier to shape than other kinds. They may also have used wood and skins, but these have rotted away.Stone does not decay, and so the tools of longago have remained when even the bones of the men who made them have disappeared without trace.

No one tells us that the greatest moments of a lifetime are fleeting, unplanned and nearly always catch us off guard.

Once a circle missed a wedge. The circle wanted to be whole, so it went
around looking for its missing piece. But because it was incomplete and therefore
could roll only very slowly, it admired the flowers along the way. It chatted with
worms. It enjoyed the sunshine. It found lots of different pieces, but none of them
fit. So it left them all by the side of the road and kept on searching. Then one day
the circle found a piece that fit perfectly. It was so happy. Now it could be whole,
with nothing missing. It incorporated the missing piece into itself and began to
roll. Now that it was a perfect circle, it could roll very fast, too fast to notice
flowers or talk to the worms. When it realized how different the world seemed
when it rolled so quickly, it stopped, left its found piece by the side of the road
and rolled slowly away.
The lesson of the story, I suggested, was that in some strange sense we are
more whole when we are missing something. The man who has everything is in
some ways a poor man. He will never know what it feels like to yearn, to hope, to
nourish his soul with the dream of something better. He will never know the
experience of having someone who loves him give him something he has always
wanted or never had.
There is a wholeness about the person who has come to terms with his
limitations, who has been brave enough to let go of his unrealistic dreams and not
feel like a failure for doing so. There is a wholeness about the man or woman who
has learned that he or she is strong enough to go through a tragedy and survive,
she can lose someone and still feel like a complete person.
Life is not a trap set for us by God so that he can condemn us for failing. Life
is not a spelling bee, where no matter how many words you’ve gotten right, you’
re disqualified if you make one mistake. Life is more like a baseball season, where
even the best team loses one third of its games and even the worst team has its
days of brilliance. Our goal is to win more games than we lose. When we accept
that imperfection is part of being human, and when we can continue rolling
through life and appreciate it, we will have achieved a wholeness that others can
only aspire to. That, I believe, is what God asks of us --- not “Be perfect”, not
“Don’t even make a mistake”, but “Be whole”.
If we are brave enough to love, strong enough to forgive, generous enough to
rejoice in another’s happiness, and wise enough to know there is enough love to
go around for us all, then we can achieve a fulfillment that no other living creature
will ever know.
