With the legal system and investment environment continuing to improve, the confidence of foreign investment in China increased and foreign investment continued to increase investment and trade interaction. At the same time, with the acceleration of China's liberalization of foreign trade rights, the activation of various market business entities, especially further releasing private enterprises’ import and export, and the ability to import and export growth was significantly enhanced. At the same time, the social demand for foreign talent turn from the previous dominant state-owned foreign trade enterprises to all kinds of enterprises with foreign trade rights. Under such a circumstance, what is the employment of International business majors like? Employment concentrated on the direction of the economy, since widely distributed professional is a national key discipline. Data from Fudan University showed that employment destination of international business graduates mainly are accounting firms, banks, foreign trade companies, futures companies, foreign-funded enterprises, government and other sectors of the economy. The information given by Renmin University is also very optimistic: In addition to banking, securities, insurance, import and export companies, trade organizations and companies, the country's foreign and multinational companies in China have more and more branches. Thus, International business graduates’ employment opportunities are quite broad. The demand in business recruitment is increasing. According to 2005 in Wuhan, Hubei Province, more than 100 graduates are directly engaged in import and export business of foreign trade enterprises and international business survey showed the overall quality of them are professional, for graduates of foreign trade enterprises requires not only professional knowledge, but also they need moral character and ability to innovate. Luckily, the employment of International Trade graduates is facing rising demands. Some employers and professional positions demand to recruit appropriate personnel. On the other hand, competition for jobs is more intensely affected by economic and financial crisis, as enterprises have ceased production because of financial insecurity and other industries’ threat. In order to survive, many enterprises have to layoff to reduce the pressure on enterprises. Meanwhile, a considerable portion of exports closely related to the closure of small and medium enterprises is facing shutdown difficulties, so do the decreased demand for talent. But, the total amount of graduates continued to increase, which will inevitably lead to more severe employment environment, and competition will be more intense. As for the future job with an International Business Degree, I would mainly consider these types of occupation as follow. The options ahead of me are quite varied, depending on where or what I decide to specialize in. After investigation, I found these five different jobs are available for someone with an international business degree. Even many of these positions are only obtainable after receiving an advanced degree. 1. International accountant I found accounting interesting during my business classes, so I guess that I could pursue a career as an international accountant. This career usually involves obtaining an MBA in accounting in addition to bachelors of international business. This position is very important as standard GAAP doesn’t apply in every country. The company will need some expertise in knowing the various tax laws and currency exchanges as well as how to read and create financial statements for other countries’ laws and specifications. So, besides learning some basic knowledge, I may struggle for the laws. 2. Import or export compliance specialist (or customs compliance) This job is found in both the federal government and private sector. International business graduates could also be an independent contractor and work for several companies. A compliance specialist maintains the compliance of imports and exports within regulatory law, both domestic and international. In addition, international business graduates would need to make changes as needed to stay within the regulatory laws. The most lucrative jobs are found within the federal government. 3. International economist Economists study the market; they analyze, examine trends, and make projections. An international economist does this on an international level and not just domestically. Companies in the international market or those looking to enter it will use an international economist to watch the trends, examine economies, and make projections about the places they are interested in doing business with or continuing. This is not an entry-level position but international business graduates can work hard to one from starting in finance or marketing within that organization. 4. Management analyst This occupation is also called a management consultant; these jobs are found everywhere domestically. They analyze company operations to look at efficiency, examine profit margins, and study the company structure. With an international business degree, international business graduates can go beyond the domestic side and examine how the international segments of the company can be improved. This position often involves significant travel or living abroad as they will have to personally examine the segment of the company in order to analyze its function. 5. International banking For degree holders who have an interest in banking, international business graduates have some choices with an international business degree. They could work at a local bank with foreign accounts or at a foreign-owned bank that does business in your country. After international business majors complete degree, I guess this group will have several different options on where to go in career, from finance to banking to consulting. While many of these jobs need advanced degrees or specialization, they are still obtainable and lucrative.
