Uint8 Lesson 1 Module3 说课稿Hello, everyone,welcome to my class. I’m Qian Xingxing. It’s such an honor for me to share my lesson with you. My lesson is unit8 Lesson 1, module3. I’ll begin this lesson from six parts.Part 1. Analysis of Teaching Material［What］The title of the reading material is Roots and Shoots.This passage mainly introduces the cause, time, purpose and significance of Roots and Shoots, an environmental protection organization established by Professor Jane Goodall. She established this organization to educate young people about environmental protection, to encourage them to care about the environment, to care for others and animals, to teach them to live in harmony with nature, so as to contribute to environmental protection.[ Why ]The textbook chooses this passage because it is instructive. The meaning of the organization’s name is that roots slowly form a firm foundation in the ground and shoots stick out into the sun. Comparing young people to roots and shoots, we call on everyone to be like roots and shoots, although small, but we can create a better living environment together, so as to improve students’ awareness of environmental protection.[How]This article is an exposition that introduces an environmental protection organization and discusses the important role of individuals in environmental protection by means of narration and discussion. At the beginning of the first paragraph of the article, a new concept ‘Just-me-ism’ is introduced, which refers to the behaviors of leaving the tap running when you brush your teeth, leaving the lights on when you go out, and littering everywhere. Through introducing the concept and listing examples, the students will know that if everyone is self-centered, we will do great harm to the environment. The second paragraph introduces the time of the organization’s establishment, the founder and the purpose. The third paragraph explains the meaning of the organization’s name. And the last paragraph calls on everybody to take action , because it is everyone’s responsibility to protect the environment.Part 2 Analysis of studentsWhat students know:The lesson is designed for students of Senior One. They have learnt something about the topic of this unit and mastered some topic words in previous lessons. Meanwhile, they have a basic grasp of some comprehensive reading strategies like predicting, skimming and scanning.What Students wonder:They have no difficulty in reading and understanding the passage. But they may wonder how to take action to protect the environment. Moreover, a few students are a little shy in speaking English, so they may wonder how to express themselves freely and critically.What students will learn:In this lesson, they will learn an environmental protection organization Roots and shoots and will have a better understanding of environmental protection. Besides, they will learn how to cooperate and communicate with other students in various activities.Part3 :Teaching objectivesCore literacy objectives:1.Obtain and sort out the establishment time, founder, purpose, name’s meaning and other related information of the environmental protection organization ‘Roots and Shoots’.2.Discuss and talk about the purpose and contribution of the environmental protection organization ‘Roots and Shoots’ .3.Understand that everyone’s small contribution can change the world and take action to protect the environment.4.Appreciate the text structure, writing characteristics, language characteristics.Now, let’s come to the key and the difficul t points.【Key points】1.Students can understand the main idea of the text.2.Students can grasp the establishment time, founder, purpose , name’s meaning and other related information of Roots and Shoots.【Difficult Points】1.Students can talk about the purpose and contributions of Roots and Shoots.2.Students are able to use what they have learned to discuss how to take action to protect the environment.Part4 Teaching MethodsWell, how to achieve the teaching objectives better? I will use the following methods.1) the students-centered method2) the guiding paper methodThe reason why I use these methods is that according to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus, teachers need to encourage students to explore and practice on their own, and be the center of a class.At the same time, I’ll make use of the guiding paper. It can develop the Ss creativity in learning English. The teacher plays a role of instructor and organizer and I also develop their independent learning，cooperative learning, and communicative approach.Part5 :Teaching Procedures Now here comes the most important part: the teaching procedure. This procedure is divided into 5 parts:1)Lead-in (4mins) 2) Pre-reading. (6mins)3) While-reading(15mins) 4)Post-reading(10mins) 5)Summary and Homework(4mins) Part1. Lead-in : I will show three pictures and ask students to talk about the following three questions.1. What is happening in each picture?2. Have you ever done any of these things?3. What would happen if everybody did the same things?Intention: To arouse students’ interest and encourage students to use English to express bravely, and then lead in the topic.Part2. Pre-reading.I will ask students to predict the main idea of the passage according to the pictures and title.Intention:To practice students’ predicting strategy and be prepared for the following reading. Part3.While-reading. This part mainly consists of two activities: Fast-reading andCareful-reading..1)Fast-readingAsk students to read the passage quickly and figure out whether their predictions are correct or not?Intention: To help students grasp the main idea of the passage and exercise their ability ofskimming.2)Careful-reading①Ask students to read the first paragraph of the text. Discuss the following questions.1.What is “Just-me-ism”?2.Why is “Just-me-ism” a problem?3.Do you have any suggestions on how to solve the problem?②Ask students to read the rest of the text and find out the time of Roots and Shoots’establishment, the founder, the purpose, the meaning of its name, then complete the table.③Ask students to read the text again.
