It came off as a bit discouraging.Yet as the months of reducing waste continued, I did what I could that was within my own reach. I had my own bedroom, so I worked on removing things I didn't need. Since I had my own toiletries(洗漱用品),I was able to start personalising my routine to be more sustainable. I also offered to cook every so often, so I portioned out a bit of the cupboard for my own zero waste groceries. I’ll begin this lesson from six parts.Part 1. Analysis of Teaching Material[What]The title of the reading material is Roots and Shoots.This passage mainly introduces the cause, time, purpose and significance of Roots and Shoots, an environmental protection organization established by Professor Jane Goodall. She established this organization to educate young people about environmental protection, to encourage them to care about the environment, to care for others and animals, to teach them to live in harmony with nature, so as to contribute to environmental protection.[ Why ]The textbook chooses this passage because it is instructive. The meaning of the organization’s name is that roots slowly form a firm foundation in the ground and shoots stick out into the sun. Comparing young people to roots and shoots, we call on everyone to be like roots and shoots, although small, but we can create a better living environment together, so as to improve students’ awareness of environmental protection.[How]This article is an exposition that introduces an environmental protection organization and discusses the important role of individuals in environmental protection by means of narration and discussion. At the beginning of the first paragraph of the article, a new concept ‘Just-me-ism’ is introduced, which refers to the behaviors of leaving the tap running when you brush your teeth, leaving the lights on when you go out, and littering everywhere.
