Zhengzhou sits right in the middle, nestled along the banks of the mighty Yellow River.The Yellow River is one of the most famous rivers in all of China. It's nicknamed the "Mother River" because it gave life to so many ancient cities and civilizations over thousands of years. The river flows for over 5,000 kilometers across northern China - that's longer than the drive from Los Angeles to New York City and back again! Can you believe how massive it is?Parts of the Yellow River that run through Zhengzhou are lined with beautiful parks and walking trails. My parents sometimes take me to stroll along the riverbanks on sunny days.I love watching the ducks and swans swimming gracefully in the water. The fresh air and greenery make it feel like you're in the peaceful countryside rather than a huge city.Even though Zhengzhou is a big, modern city today, it has such a long and fascinating history dating back over 3,600 years. Archaeologists have found evidence of human settlements here as early as the Shang Dynasty in the 16th century BC! Isn't thatincredible? My city is literally older than the ancient Egyptian pyramids.There are still remnants of Zhengzhou's rich past scattered around the city if you know where to look. One of my favorite places is Erqi Memorial Tower, an age-old pagoda constructed way back in 165 AD during the Han Dynasty. It stands over 40 meters tall and has these beautiful brick carvings of dragons, phoenixes and other mystical creatures covering the exterior. Looking up at the intricate designs always fills me with wonder about the master craftsmen who created it so long ago.But Zhengzhou isn't just about old stuff - it's a thriving, booming city with its eyes on the future too! We have so many impressive modern landmarks and developments. The New Zhengzhou Railway Station is the biggest free-standing terminal station in all of Asia. It's absolutely massive with a tradicional palatial-style roof and these enormous glass walls that make it look like a glistening crystal palace. I'll never forget the first time my parents took me there to catch the high-speed bullet train - I was in complete awe!One of the newest and most iconic sights is the Zhengzhou Greenland Plaza skyscraper. At 388 meters, it's one of the tallest buildings in all of China! From the ground it seems to piercestraight up into the clouds like a glass-and-steel knight's lance. I've never been up to the top myself, but I've heard the panoramic views overlooking the skyline are just breathtaking. Maybe I can convince my dad to take me up there for my next birthday.Even with all the new fancy high-rises and construction, Zhengzhou still makes a big effort to stay green and eco-friendly. We have the largest urban green space of any city in Henan Province, with miles and miles of parks, forests, and nature reserves woven into the city streets. Huai River Eco-park is one of my favorites with its serene lakes, sprawling lawns, and shady tree groves. It's the perfect retreat for walking, cycling or just soaking up some fresh air away from the hustle and bustle.No discussion of Zhengzhou would be complete without mentioning the food! We have some of the tastiest and most unique cuisine in all of China. The most famous local specialty is Zhengzhou waterdish chicken - delectable chicken stewed in a rich, flavorful broth. My grandma makes the best version and it's my number one favorite meal. We also have yummy treats like crispy sesame cakes, soft doughy persimmon cakes, andmouth-watering Zhengzhou dry noodles that are chewy andcoated in a savory sauce. Just thinking about it is making me hungry!I could honestly go on and on singing the praises of my wonderful hometown. It has such a perfect blend of ancient heritage and modern innovation. The sights, the sounds, the flavors - they all come together to make Zhengzhou a remarkable and unforgettable place.Whether you're strolling through verdant parks, gazing up at towering skyscrapers, or exploring remnants from bygone dynasties, there's always something new and exciting to discover.I feel so lucky to call this vibrant, dynamic city my home.
