Orwell was a keen critic of imperialism , fascism ,Stalinism, and capitalism.
His works are concerned with the sociopolitical conditions of his time, notably with the problem of human freedom.

1. a. emigrants or their descendants in a distant territory but remain subject to or closely associated with the parent country. In politics and in history, a colony is a territory under the immediate political control of a geographicallydistant state (or city, in ancient times).
