The views from the top were gorgeous.My favorite part of our Scotland trip was taking a boat tour out on Loch Ness to look for the legendary Loch Ness Monster! Unfortunately we didn't spot Nessie, but it was still so much fun being out on that huge dark lake surrounded by the Scottish Highlands. Our guide told us all about the reported sightings of the monster over the centuries. Very spooky stuff!All too soon, our incredible Britain trip was over. But the memories will definitely last me a lifetime. I feel so lucky to have had the chance to experience the culture, history, and beauty of England and Scotland firsthand. It really brought my textbooks and classes to life in a way I never could have imagined. I can't wait for my next adventure!Unit 2: A Typical School DayGood morning class! Today I'm going to walk you through what a typical day is like for me at school.My day starts pretty early since I have to catch the bus by 7:15 am. I'm definitely not a morning person, so getting upbefore 7 is always a struggle! Once I'm up though, I get dressed, brush my teeth, and head downstairs for a quick breakfast.My bus ride takes about 20 minutes, which gives me enough time to do some last-minute homework or scroll through my socials. At 7:45, I arrive at school and head to my locker to grab my books for my first few classes.The first bell rings at 8 am, which is when my pre-algebra class starts. Math is probably my least favorite subject, but I'm working really hard to get better at it this year. After an hour of algebra equations, I have a short break before my next class.Up next is English at 9:15. I really enjoy English because I love reading, writing stories, and analyzing books and poems. Today I want to tell you all about my summer vacation last year. It was honestly the best summer ever!It started in late June when school let out. My parents had planned this amazing three-week road trip for our family. We loaded up our mini-van and hit the road, heading west. Our first stop was the Grand Canyon in Arizona. When we arrived and I saw how massive and deep the canyon was, I couldn't believe my eyes! The layers of red rock seemed to go on forever. We went on a short hike along the rim trail and took so many pictures. It was unbelievably beautiful.After a couple of days enjoying the Grand Canyon, we drove further west to California. We spent a few nights in Los Angeles, staying in a hotel right near the beach in Santa Monica. I loved walking along the pier, playing games at the arcade, and riding the big ferris wheel. The ocean air smelled so fresh and salty.One of the highlights was definitely going to Disneyland! We spent two full days at the park, riding classics like Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and the Haunted Mansion. It was adream come true. We also went to Disney's California Adventure park next door. I tried my first churro there and it was delicious!From Los Angeles, we drove up the Pacific coast to the Bay Area. We visited the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, which was pretty neat to see in person after learning about it in school. The entire city has so many steep hills! My legs got a workout just walking around. We had delicious seafood, rode cable cars, and went to the Exploratorium science museum. I loved all the hands-on exhibits.Our final stop was Yosemite National Park. Wow, the scenery there is out of this world! We stayed in a cabin surrounded by towering forests and huge rock formations. We hiked up to a waterfall, which was a tough climb, but the view at the top was breathtaking. We also went on a guided horseback ride through the valley. At night, you could see more stars than I've ever witnessed before. It was magical.On the long drive home, I reflected on what an unforgettable trip it had been. Yes, it was exhausting being in the car for so many hours. But we made so many wonderful memories as a family. I got to experience new places, try new foods, and step outside my comfort zone. Part of me didn't want it to end!I'm already dreaming about where we might go next summer. Maybe to see some national parks in Utah like Arches or Zion? Or perhaps we could drive up the East Coast and visit cities like Washington D.C., New York, and Boston? Wherever we end up going, I know it's going to be an adventure I'll never forget.Well, that's the story of my epic summer road trip last year. Getting to travel across the country and see so many famous sights was truly the opportunity of a lifetime. I feel so lucky and grateful to my parents for planning such an amazing experience for our family. Sure, sharing a mini-van and hotel rooms isn't always easy.
