=What he said impressed me deeply.他说的话给我留下了深刻的印象。

My father impressed on me the importance of hard work.

=My father impressed me with the importance of hard work.

我父亲要我牢记努力工作的重要性。

=set about doing

=undertake to do都有“开始做......”的意思

I took up learning painting when I graduated from school.
