My View On American’s Presidential Election

It has been a few weeks since the final result of American’s presidential election came out. Some people became wild with joy after Trump won the election, while others were so astonished and outraged that they went on the streets and protest that “Trump is not my president”.

Whether grief or ecstasy, anger or astonishment, I think they all overshadowed the real dangerous curse of this dramatic result. What’s more dreadful and alarming than Trump’s winning the election is that American is more and more separated from each other. In my point of view, it was the prejudice and segregation between American people that eventually led to the separation.

Hillary’s supporters altogether with the mass media blindly regard Trump’s supporters as “racists” and “bigots”, refusing to listen to what the other half of Americans are appealing for. The feeling of being forgotten contributed to these people’s craze for Donald Trump in a way.

This should be a lesson not only to Americans, but also to us. After all, what is democracy? It is not just about the politicians and elites in Washington D.C, it is about all of us. Only when all of us become less personal and less concerned about ourselves, and assume our social responsibility can we make a closer approach to democracy. No one can view the world with complete impartiality. But a qualified citizen should learn to have a larger vision of the society, on one hand, by having a overall vision of the issue after a closer look instead of making judgments groundlessly, and on the other hand, by thinking independently instead of following the trends. It is this approach to impartiality that makes us become qualified citizens in the modern society.

Americans presidential election is never a reality show. It is a lesson on democracy that each of us should learn. And only by this can we make progress in building a . democratic society.
