Langston Hughes was one of writers of the Harlem Renaissance . He was born in 1902 and his parents separated when he was little. Langston up with his grandmother who told him stories about their family’s fight against racial injustice(种族歧视). He developed a love of reading books in his early years and his love for reading grew into a desire to write.
As a young man, Langston traveled to Europe and Africa. He wrote poems and short stories during his travels. By 1925, Langston to the USA. He lived in Harlem in New York City . Langston had worked many different jobs , but wished to make a living as a writer. Rich white supporters of the Harlem Renaissance helped Hughes until he could support .
Hughes wrote one of his best-know in 1926 , “ The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain .” It is about black writers and poets who want to be considered as poets , not black poets. He also began to write many different short stories that were published in magazines. In these , he was able to discuss ideas with black pride and other problems of black life.
There were difficult times for Langston Hughes , but he never gave up . He continued to write and published throughout the 1950s and 60s. And he won several important awards during that time . He also at Atlanta University and the University of Chicago as a guest professor.
Hughes of cancer in 1967 in Harlem , but his name in the history of America ever since as the poet voice of African-Americans.。
