阅读强化训练(七)(建议用时:25分钟)Ⅰ阅读理解There’s no such thing as showering too much, right? Wrong.Despite the practice that many people shower once or twice a day, we’re only meant to shower once or twice a week. As experts say, humandaily showering is mainly for the love for beauty.Speaking to TIME, Dr. Elaine Larson, an expert from ColumbiaUniversity School of Nursing argues, “People think they’re showeringto keep clean, but that’s not the case. Bathing will remove smells if you have unpleasant smell on your body or you are back from the gym. But in terms of protecting you from illness, washing your hands regularly is probably adequate.”Larson’s research turns out, antibacterial soaps and cleaning products are not any better than a regular bar of soap when it comes to lowering your risk of getting diseases, so the fancy soaps you bought are probably a waste of money. The more you bathe, the thinner and less hydrated(含水的) your skin becomes. Dry skin opens up gaps for infection(感染) and causes bacteria to slip through. Washing can also clear away your skin of its natural oils and may destroy the bacteria that support the immune(免疫的) system on your skin, according to Dr. C. Brandon Mitchell, assistant professor of dermatology at the George Washington University. Both Mitchell and Larson recommend that you shouldn’t use antibacterial soaps that are particularly bad for removing essential oils. Mitchell adds, “Your body is naturally a welloiled machine. A daily shower isn’t necessary. The rest of your body doesn’t need much soaping.”So, in terms of your health, you should probably only shower once or twice a week, in terms of how you look and smell might be a different story. A recent study shows that smelling bad is the biggest relationship dealmaker.【解题导语】本文通过介绍研究人员的研究结果说明:从健康角度看,一个人一周只需要洗一到两次澡就够了。

阅读强化训练(十六)(建议用时:25分钟)Ⅰ阅读理解Don Quixote, the classic by Spanish Renaissance writer Cervantes, has inspired literary movements from the 18thcentury picaresque novels to the most special works of the 21stcentury postmodernism and has pr ovided the power for critical works by everyone from Thackeray to Ortegay Gasset.Shakespeare paid Cervantes(his contemporary) the rare compliment of using Quixote as source material for one of his later plays,Cardenio. The concept of the novel is simple:Alonso Quijano,a landowner from La Mancha,is attracted by the books about knights(骑士).Driven mad by the special plots, characters and philosophy in these 17thcentury novels,Quijano decides to bring dignity back to the lost profession of knight under the name Don Quixote. He carries a sword,a suit of armor(盔甲) and a horse, and sets out into Spain. The first few scenes involve Quixote alone against the world, meeting various people, but before a hundred pages Cervantes introduced Sancho Panza,Quixote’s talkative squire(侍从).In the endless discussions,Quixote’s crazy conception of the world is brought crashing to earth by Sanc ho’s practical ideas. The reader faces,at the same moment,an ideal view of the world and the cruel facts of the actual world.Quixote’s insistenc e on his own reality in the face of arguments to the contrary makes him an interesting character because we know that Quixote is just wrong.Yet,despite all of the pain he suffers in pursuit of that wrong,he continues to believe that he’s right. So we read on page after page, waiting to see how much more the man who considers himself a knight is able to take before he gives in.Just as Quixote builds his castles from criminal campfires,we build our understanding of Cervantes’ Spain, which was so cruelly real and so dreamlike. We,like Don Quixote, are driven to hallucinate(产生幻觉) by what might be,in the end, just a very good story.【解题导语】本文主要介绍了西班牙文艺复兴代表作家塞万提斯的著作《堂吉诃德》。

One of its conclusions: “In today's environment, everyone has an important role to play in cybersecurity."The advice was timely。
The attack that spread from China to Spain was slowed down by a British man who lives with his parents and who is self。
taught in cybersecurity. His quick work in buying a web domain name(域名) connected to the digital worm(蠕虫病毒) ended up being a temporary kill switch。
This gave time for companies, governments, and others to protect their systems。
His $10 purchase saved billions。
More to the point, his action shows that the users of digital tools connected to the Internet must always be prepared for attacks, even if only to inform experts. The attacks like WannaCry, which often come through email, are responsible for as much as 73 percent of malware(恶意软件).The NTT report says cybersecurity requires much more than a technological fix。

阅读强化训练(二)(建议用时:25分钟)Ⅰ阅读理解In the United States there are more than half a millioncriminals serving time in prisons. Most prisoners are malehigh school dropouts(退学者) between the age of 18 and 29.Even more shocking is the fact that the number and rate ofimprisonment has more than doubled over the past twenty years, and the recidivism(累犯) is more than 60 percent.Although the aim of the criminal justice system is to get them back into society, the system itself doesn’t support such a goal. Although most prisons are located within the community, prisons are usually isolated(隔离的) and terribly overcrowded. Even in the betterequipped prisons, only onethird of the prisoners have job training opportunities or work release(监外就业) choices. If prisons are to achieve the goal of getting prisoners back into society, then the prisons themselves will have to change. First, they will have to be smaller, housing no more than five hundred prisoners. It has been shown that crowding does not help improve(改进) behaviors. Second, they will have to be built in or near population centers with what prisoners need. This must include social services. Finally, prison programs must be reorganized to provide work release and job training for all prisoners, giving them skills that carry over into their lives after release. In addition to work release, successful models for such teamwork between the criminal justice system and the community already exist in several hundred halfway houses throughout the country where prisoners complete their sentences while beginning to rebuild their lives as productive members of society. Studies suggest that imprisonment as it is currently operated must be viewed as punishment rather than reform. Until we approach the problem in terms of changing behaviors, prisoners who are set free will probably return to a life of crime.【解题导语】本文是一篇议论文。

阅读强化训练(十)(建议用时:25分钟)Ⅰ阅读理解There are many different types of poems. Many people have heard about haiku. In fact, most of us are taught at one point or another—usually in elementary school or high school—to write one of our very own. Even if you did that, do you remember what this type of poem actually is? Haiku is a form of poetry which is composed of three nonrhyming lines. They often express feelings and thoughts about nature; however, you could write a poem about any subject you like in this form. One of the poetic favorites is pastoral (田园的)poetry because it means wonderful senses of peace and harmony (和谐).Examples of this form include Keats’s OdeonaGrecianUrn, which is also a type of ode. Like the haiku, nature is often at the center of this type of poem as well. In general, pastoral poetry will focus on describing a rural place, but the terms(措辞)will be peaceful. You will feel at ease after reading this type of poem. Many pastoral poems are written about shepherds. Are you familiar wi th the term “ballad〞? Probably you are, because people sometimes refer to songs—particularly romantic ones—as ballads. In fact, ballad poems are frequently sung—or at least they are intended to be sung, and they are often about love. Often, these ballads will tell stories and they tend to be of a mystical nature.A limerick is a poem that is often silly or funny, written in five lines with an AABBA rhyme scheme. Often, a limerick tells a short, humorous story. This type of poem has been popular for hundreds of years, particularly in the English language. When limericks first became popular, they often expressed ideas that were dirty, but today limericks express all sorts of ideas.Because poems can express a wide variety of emotions, there are sad forms of poetry as well as happy ones. One of these sad forms is known as an elegy(挽歌)...【解题导语】本文向我们介绍了一些不同种类的诗歌。
