AFood festivals around the worldStilton Cheese RollingMay Day is a traditional day for celebrations, but the 2,000 English villagers of Stilton must be the only people in the world who include cheese rolling in their annual plans. Teams of four, dressed in a variety of strange and funny clothes, roll a complete cheese along a 50-metre course. On the way, they must not kick or throw their chees e, or go into their competitors’ lane (赛道).Competition is fierce and the chief prize is a complete Stilton cheese weighing about four kilos (disappointingly, but understandably the cheeses used in the race are wooden ones). All the competitors are served with beer or port wine, the traditional accompaniment for Stilton cheese. Fiery Foods Festival—The Hottest Festival on EarthEvery year more than 10,000 people head for the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico. They come from as far away as Australia, the Caribbean and China, but they all share a common addiction—food that is not just spicy, but hot enough to make your mouth burn, your head spin and your eyes water. Their destination is the Fiery Food and BBQ Festival which is held over a period of three days every March. You might like to try a chocolate covered habanero pepper—officially the hottest pepper in the world—or any one of the thousands of products that are on show. But one thing’s for sure—if you don’t like the feeling of a burning tongue, this festival isn’t for you!La Tomatina—The World's Biggest Food FightOn the last Wednesday of every August, the Spanish town of Bunol hosts La Tomatina—the world’s largest food fight. The early morning sees the arrival of large trucks with tomatoes—official fight-starters get things going by casting tomatoes at the crowd. The battle lasts little more than half an hour, in which time around 50,000 kilograms of tomatoes have been thrown at anyone or anything that moves, runs, or fights back. Then everyone heads down to the river to makefriends again—and for a much-needed wash!11. As we were leaving, we found that only minutes earlier an elderly woman had fallen over at the entrance and had hit her head on the concrete. Her husband was with her, but there was blood everywhere and the woman was embarrassed and clearly in shock.Walking towards the scene, Tenyson became very upset about what had happened to the couple. He said to me, ―Mum, it’s not much fun falling over in front of everyone.‖At the front of the supermarket a charity group had set up a stand selling cooked sausages and flowers to raise funds. Tenyson suggested that we should buy the lady a flower. ―It will make her feel better,‖ he said. I was amazed that he’d come up with such a sweet idea. So we went over to the f lower seller and asked her if we could buy a flower for the lady to cheer her up. ―Just take it,‖ she replied. ―I can’t take your money for such a wonderful gesture.‖By now paramedics (救援人员) had arrived, and were attending the injured woman. As we walked up to her, my son became intimidated by all the blood and medical equipment. He said he was just too scared to go up to her.Instead I gave the flower to the woman’s husband and told him, ―My son was very upset for your wife and wanted to give her this flower to make her feel better.‖At that time, the old man started crying and said, ―Thank you so much, you have a wonderful son. Happy Mother’s Day to you.‖The man then bent down and gave his wife the flower, telling her who it was from. Business people, political leaders, university professors, and especially millions of grass-roots Americans are taking part in the movement. ―The understanding has increased many, many times,‖ says Gaylord Nelson, the former governor from Wisconsin, who thought up the first Earth Day.According to US government reports, emissions (排放) from cars and trucks have dropped from 10.3 million tons a year to 5.5 million tons. The number of cities producing CO beyond the standard has been reduced from 40 to 9. Although serious problems still remain and need to be dealt with, the world is a safer and healthier place. A kind of ―Green thinking‖ has become part of practices.Great improvement has been achieved. In 1988 there were only 600 recycling (回收利用) programs; today in 1995 there are about 6,600. The more you sit each day, the more chance you have of getting sick.Richard Rosenkranz of Kansas State University was among the researchers. He said people who sat for long periods were at great risk of diseases when compared with those who sat less. He said that was especially true for some chronic (慢性的) diseases.Richard Rosenkranz studied the relationship between sitting and chronic diseases in middle-aged Australian men. He worked with researchers from the University of Western Sydney. They examined the health records of more than 63,000 men from New South Wales. The men were between the ages of 45 and 65. The men reported about what diseases they had, or did not have. And they kept a record of the amount of time each day that they sat.The study also showed that exercising every morning for 30minutes did not reduce the health risk if you spend the next eight hours sitting at the desk. Mr. Rosenkranz said it was important to make sure you exercise. But he said it was also important to find ways not to sit so much during the day. Many jobs today require sitting and working at the desk all day. James Levine works at the Mayo Clinic in the United Sates. He suggests working while standing at a high table some of the time instead of sitting at a desk. Dr. Levine also suggests standing while using the telephone or eating. Or he advises walking with the people you work with for an on-foot meeting. Designed by James Ramsey, owner of Raad Studio, and Dan Barasch, the project will transform the abandoned space into a new, futuristic city landmark tided the Lowline.Ramsey planned to use solar technology in the site, creating an environment where plant life could grow underground. Joined to the JMZ Essex subway stop, the park will not only be an entertaining attraction, it will also become a part of passengers’ lives. Much like the High Line built in Manhattan on an elevated (高出地面的) section of abandoned New York Central Railroad in the Lower West Side, the park will combine the natural elements of the park with industrial aspects already available in the city. The solar collecting system in the Lowline will catch sunlight above ground, transfer it underground and distribute it around the park via reflective domes (穹顶). The light enables plants and trees to grow. During periods of sunlight, electricity would not be necessary to light the space. In 2012, the Lowline team exhibited this technology in an abandoned warehouse in the Lower East Side, available for the public and press to view so that proof of its ability could be confirmed. Since then, many city officials have shown their support of the concept and several programs have been conducted to involve youth and young designers into the park’s creation.Though the negotiations of the park creation have not been completed and it will likely not be available for citizens to enjoy until around 2020, the inventive idea will bring a dynamic new attraction to the city. It will not only create a new escape from the industrial noise, but also introduce the concept of parks and plant growth being made possible in the most unlikely places.4. To win support from volunteers.D. To show the warehouse is useful.7. What’s the author’s attitude towards the concept of the Lowline?A. Optimistic.B. UnconcernedC. OpposedD. Doubtful.CWhy doesn’t the unemployment rate ever reach zero? Economists, who generally believe that supply tends to meet demand, have long thought about this question. Even in good times, i.e. not now, there are people who can’t find work. And even in bad times, i.e. now, there are job openings. With over 14 million people out of work and looking for a job, you would think every available job would be filled. But that’s not the case. Not now and not ever.On Monday, the Nobel Prize committee awarded the prize for economics to the three scholars whohave done the most to explain this phenomenon. Two of the winners are Americans, Peter Diamond of MIT and Dale Mortensen of Northwestern. The third winner is Christopher Pissarides, who teaches at the London School of Economics and was born on Cyprus.Like most of economists, what they have found about why the jobless and ready-employers don’t find each other seems obvious. You have to find out there is job opening you are interested in. Employers need to get resumes. It takes a while for both employers and employees to make the decision that this is what they want. And these guys came up with a framework to study the problem of why people stay unemployed longer than they should and what can be done about it.So what would today’s Nobel Prize winners do to solve the current problem of the unemployed? And does the awarding of the prize contribute to the politicians’ lowering joblessness?Speaking from his north London home, Pissarides told The Associated Press the announcement came as “a complete surprise” though his work had already helped shape thinking on both sides of the Atlantic. For example, the New Deal for Young People, a British government policy aimed at getting 18-24-year-olds back on the job market after long periods of unemployment, “It is very much based on our work,” he said.“One of the key things we found is that it is important to make sure that people do not stay unemployed too long so they don’t lose their feel for the labor force,” Pissarides told reporters in London. “The ways of dealing with this need not be expensive training – it could be as simple as providing work experience.”8. According to the writer, which is true about finding jobs?A. It is always difficult to find a job.B. Everyone can find a job in good times.C. Contrary to popular belief, it is easier to find a job in bad times.D. It is possible to find a job even in times as bad as now.9. What is it that lead to their winning the prize?A. They have found the reason for unemployment.B. They have put forward a set of ideas to deal with unemployment.C. They have found out why people don’t want to be employed.D. They have long studied the problem of unemployment.10. Which of the following statements is NOT true according to the passage?A. Pissarides thinks his work surprising.B. The work of Pissarides has influenced many economists.C. Some of the winners’ idea have been put into practice.D. It is probable that unemployed young peop le in Britain benefit from Pissarides’ work.11. What is effective in dealing with unemployment according to Pissarides?A. Spending large sums of money on training.B. Teaching some knowledge of economics.C. Providing work experience.D. Keeping people unemployed for some time.DUnder new rules posted by the Civil Aviation (航空) administration of China on Friday, pilots will have to pass a “level four” test of Mandarin Chinese, China’s official language. Those who speak with an accent that “often impedes” comprehension will not pass. These rules take effect in January 2016.China’s 56 ethnic groups speak more than 80 languages and dialects. Even native Mandarin speakers can have trouble communicating with each other depending on the strength of their accents, which can be mutually unintelligible (难理解的).One flight trainer illustrated the scope for linguistic confusion, especially when common English aviation terms are used. Asked if there is a problem on board, a Chinese pilot might answer in the negative with the words mei you, or “there isn’t. But someone speaking with a heavy Sichuan accent would pronounce mei yo u as “May day”– unconsciously parroting the universally recognized distress call (遇难信号).Like their international counterparts (对应物), Chinese aviators have developed codes to avoid confusion resulting from homonyms (同音异义字) or near-homonyms. They use the terms yao for one and guai for seven, which are otherwise pronounced yi and qi respectively and easily confused. The new rule could affect all pilots, who must renew their license every six years, and adds to a growing list of burdens for the profession.12. What does the underlined word “impedes” in Para 1 mean?A. improvesB. helpsC. misunderstandsD. limits13. Which of the following is true according to the passage?A. Sichuan dialect has the contrary meaning to Mandarin.B. Native Mandarin speakers can understand each other well.C. It isn’t necessary for a pilot to pass the test before January 2016.D. “May day” is a distress call in our everyday life.14. What is the purpose of the Chinese aviators using the terms yao for one and guai for seven?A. To avoid confusion.B. To communicate with their international counterparts.C. To pass the test.D. To avoid their accents.15. What is the best title for the passage?A. Chinese Pilots Told to Get Rid of Regional Accents.B. Chinese Pilots.C. Rich Chinese Languages.D. Hard to Be a Chinese Pilot.第二节(共5小题,每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。

The Nobel did not go to those excellent novelists but to a songwriter. Some of those same people are still protesting that last year it was awarded to Svetlana Alexievich, a “journalist”.They have d ecided, for whatever reasons, that song lyrics are not literature. And people are upset because Bob Dylan is the voice of some generation other than theirs, because he works in a popular style, because he does not work in this minute’s popular style, because he appeared on a car commercial that aired during the Super Bowl, because his songwriting skills dropped of ---he was famous long ago, after all. You may not think of Dylan as a poet, but Dylan created a climate in which lyrics were taken seriously. Judge not according to the appearance.CSir William Osler has a few words for you: “In the Life of a young man, the most essential thing for happiness is the gift of friendship.” Truer words were never spoken. For what more could you ask than comradeship during the peaks and valleys of life? To whom else but a close, valuable friend can you show off your successes and complain about your failures or losses? What is a “good friend”? How is he best described? Well, it has been my observation that although many will cry with you, few can sincerely rejoice (欣喜) with you. Therefore, in my opinion, a good friend is one who can enjoy your successes without envy; one who can say, “That was wonderful! You can do it again, even better if you want!” and mean it. Nothing taxes a friendship more than the success of one and not the other. Even the closest of friendships often cannot resist such pressure and fail. No wonder many minor friendships go down day by day for the same reason.A person of good character and sound moral, of honor and humor, of courage and belief is a friend to be sought and treasured — for there are few. Too often we hear, “If you can count your good friends on more than one hand, consider yourself blessed.” And even then I would add, “Even if you have lost two fingers of that handto the electric saw. What makes a friendship last? Well, I don’t know all the answers, but one of my observations is that most good friends usually have similar tastes. They generally like and dislike many of the same things. There also usually seems to exist a similarity of personality types - especially in the fundamental values of life such as honesty, sincerity, loyalty, and dependability. More often than not, birds of a feather do fly toget her. I don’t think it matters a lot whether one prefers jazz or hockey to another’s Mozart or ballet. Much other matters far more: relying, sharing, giving, getting, enjoying; a sympathetic ear always there; criticism when it can help; praise - even if only because it would help. With not many people on this earth will you find this much in common. When you find one, hang on to him, for a good friend found is a rare treasure.8. What is the meaning of the underlined sentence in Paragraph two?A. People don’t have to pay taxes to develop friendship with others.B. Success of one person can promote his friendship with others.C. Friendship can be affected by the difference in success between friends.D. Nothing can affect friendship because it has gone through the peaks and valleys of life.9. What is the main idea of Paragraph three ?A. One is lucky to have many friends.B. A friend should have a good character.C. We should count our friends on more than one hand.D. A true friend should be treasured because there are few.10. According to the passage, which of the following plays the LEAST important role in a long-lasting friendship?A. Hobbies.B. Tastes.C. Personality.D. Sympathy.11. The passage maily tells us _____________.A. How good friends share the same taste and hobbies?B. Why is friendship essetial in one’s life?C. What is friendship and what makes it last?D. What one can do to keep friendship last?DWhy do some people live to be older than others? You know the standard explanations: keeping a moderate diet, engaging in regular exercise, etc. But what effect does your personality have on your longevity(长寿)? Do some kinds of personalities lead to longer lives? A new study in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society looked at this question by examining the personality characteristics of 246 children of people who had lived to be at least 100.The study shows that those living the longest are more outgoing, more active and less neurotic (神经质的) than other people. Long-living women are also more likely to be sympathetic and cooperative than women with a normal life span. These findings are in agreement with what you would expect from the evolutionary theory: those who like to make friends and help others can gather enough resources to make it through tough times.Interestingly, however, other characteristics that you might consider advantageous had no impact on whether study participants were likely to live longer. Those who were more self-disciplined, for instance, were no more likely to live to be very old. Also, being open to new ideas had no relationship to long life, which might explain all those bad-tempered old people who are fixed in their ways.Whether you can successfully change your personality as an adult is the subject of a longstanding psychological debate. But the new paper suggests that if you want long life, you should strive to be as outgoing as possible.Unfortunately, another recent study shows that your mother’s personality may also help determine your longevity. That study looked at nearly 28,000 Norwegian mothers and found that those moms who were more anxious, depressed and angry were more likely to feed their kids unhealthy diets. Patterns of childhood eating can be hard to break when we’re adults, which may mean that kids of depressed moms end up dying younger.Personality isn’t destiny, and everyone knows that individuals can learn to change. But both studies show that long life isn’t just a matter of your physical health but of your mental health.12. The aim of the study in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society is________.A. to see whether people’s personality affects their life spanB. to find out if one’s lifestyle has any effect on their healthC. to investigate the role of exercise in living a long lifeD. to examine all the factors contributing to longevity13. What does the author imply about outgoing and sympathetic people?A. They have a good understanding of evolution.B. They are better at negotiating an agreement.C. They generally appear more resourceful.D. They are more likely to get over hardship.14. What finding of the study might prove somewhat out of our expectation?A. Easy-going people can also live a relatively long life.B. Personality characteristics that prove advantageous actually vary with times.C. Such personality characteristics as self-discipline have no effect on longevity.D. Readiness to accept new ideas helps one enjoy longevity.15. What does the recent study of Norwegian mothers show?A.Children’s personality character istics are invariably determined by their mothers.B. People with unhealthy eating habits are likely to die sooner.C. Mothers’ influence on children may last longer than fathers.D. Designed by James Ramsey, owner of Raad Studio, and Dan Barasch, the project will transform theabandoned space into a new, futuristic city landmark tided the Lowline.Ramsey planned to use solar technology in the site, creating an environment where plant life could grow underground. Joined to the JMZ Essex subway stop, the park will not only be an entertaining attraction, it will also become a part of passengers’lives. What is the similarity between the High Line and Lowline?A. Offering convenience only for passengers.B. Planting the same types of plant life.C. Making full advantage of solar technology.D. Turning industrial wasteland into green space.5. Which is true of the future Lowline?A. It’s an exciting trolley station.B. It’s a long-term open exhibition.C. Not now and not ever.On Monday, the Nobel Prize committee awarded the prize for economics to the three scholars who have done the most to explain this phenomenon. And does the awarding of the prize contribute to the politicians’ lowering joblessness?Speaking from his north London home, Pissarides told The Associa ted Press the announcement came as “a complete surprise” though his work had already helped shape thinking on both sides of the Atlantic. “The ways of dealing with this need not be expensive training –it could be as simple as providing work experience.”8. Keeping people unemployed for some time.DUnder new rules posted by the Civil Aviation (航空) administration of China on Friday, pilots will have to pass a “level four”test of Mandarin Chinese, China’s official language. Hard to Be a Chinese Pilot.

ADear Friend,The recent success of children's books has made the general public aware thatthere's a huge market out there. And there's a growing need for new writers trained to create the $3 billion worthof children's books bought each year plus stories and articles needed by over 650publishers of magazines for children and teenagers.Who are these needed writers? They're ordinary folks like you and me.But am I good enough?I was once where you might be now. My thoughts of writing had been pushed downby self-doubt, and I didn't know where to turn for help. Then, I accepted a free offer from the Institute to test my writing aptitude(潜能), and it turned out to be the inspiration I needed. The promise that paid offThe Institute made the same promise to me that they will make to you, if you showbasic writing ability:You will complete at least one manuscript(手稿) suitable to hand in to a publisherby the time you finish our course.I really didn't expect any publication before I finished the course, but that happened. I sold three stories. And I soon discovered that was not unusual at the Institute.Since graduation, I have authored 34 nationally published children's books and over 300 stories and articles.Free test and brochureWe offer a free aptitude test and will send you a copy of our brochure describing our recognized home-study courses on the basis of one-on-one training.Realize your writing dream today. There's nothing sadder than a dream delayed until it fades forever.Sincerely,KristiKristi Holl, InstructorInstitute of Children's Literature1.From the first three paragraphs, we learn that_____.A. children’s books are usually bestsellersB. publishers are making $3 billion each yearC. magazines for teenagers have drawn public attentionD. there is a growing need for writers of children's books2. When finishing the course, you are promised to_____.A. be a successful publisherB. become a confident editorC. finish one work for publicationD. get one story or article published3. Kristi Holl mentions her experience mainly to_____.A. prove she is a good instructorB. promote the writing programC. give her advice on course preparationD. show she sold more stories than articlesBWhen we talk about intelligence, we do not mean the ability to get good scores in certain kinds of tests or even the ability to do well in school. By intelligence we mean a way of living and behaving, especially in a new or anxious situation. If we want to test intelligence, we need to find out how a person acts instead of how much he knows what to do.For example, when in a new situation, an intelligent person thinks about the situation, not about himself or what might happen to him. He tries to find out all he can, and then he acts immediately and tries to do something about it. He probably isn’t sure how it will all work out, but at least he tries. And, if he can’t make things work out right, he doesn’t feel ashamed that he fails; he just tries to learn from his mistakes. An intelligent person, even if he is very young, has a special outlook(人生观) on life, special feeling about life, and knows how he fits into it.If you look at children, you’ll see great difference between what we call “bright” children and “not bright” children. They are actually two different kinds of people, not just the same kind with different amounts of intelligence. For example, the bright child really wants to find out more about life — he tries to get in touch with everything around him. But the unintelligent child keeps more to himself and his own dream–world; he seems to have a wall between him and life in general.4. This passage mainly tells us that intelligence is the ability_________ .A. to do well in schoolB. to behave immediatelyC. to know what to doD. to deal with life5. In the author’s opinion the biggest difference between “bright” children and“not bright” children lies in ____.A. the amount of intelligenceB. the different situations they faceC. the different attitudes to lifeD. the background of life6. What’s the main idea of the passage?A. What’s real meaning of intelligence?B. What’s the “bright” children’s behavior?C. What’s a special outlook on life?D. How to live and behave in a new situation?7. What might the author continue to talk about in the passage that follows? .A. how to determine what intelligence isB. how an unintelligent person should be taughtC. how to judge whether a person is intelligentD. how education should be changedCOur village, Cinderland, was founded in 2000. It is a fully-sustainable(可持续的) eco-village on the Big Island of Hawaii located about 29 miles southeast of Hilo and 9 miles east of Pahoa. And it is within easy walking distance of the coastline —one mile north of Highway 132, just off Highway 137.Solar power supplies our electrical needs, and water catchment tanks hold abundant rain water for our use. Fruit trees and vegetable gardens are located throughout our tropical landscape and can be harvested at any time by the residents(居民) for their own personal consumption(消费).We accept all lifestyles and belief systems, and encourage individuality and diversity. A good attitude and an easy-going manner are most important to us; those qualities go a long, long way here!Tuesdays are a fun and big day here. In the morning, we all get together for a few hours for various work projects. In the afternoon, many will hop in the truck for a trip to the town of Pahoa. That evening, we then are all treated to what is well-known throughout this region as “Taco Tuesday”. Anyone is welcome to join us from the surrounding areas, which makes for a large gathering each week. It’s certain that drummers and other musicians will be playing around the fire pit (坑) each “Taco Tuesday”.With the exception of the few hours of work on Tuesdays, residents are free to do whatever they please. Some just relax, while others may snorkel(潜泳), surf, swim, shop, backpack, camp, go sightseeing, watch the lava flow, etc. It’s rare that someone leaves this area without feeling it is a life-changing experience. There are also many who decide to make it their permanent home.We are very welcoming. Come to give us a visit! Mahalo!8. Which of the following shows the position of Cinderland?C=Cinderland B=Big Island H=Hilo P=Pahoa9. Residents in Cinderland grow fruit trees and vegetables to .A. treat guestsB. make moneyC. satisfy their own needsD. attract tourists10. What do residents in Cinderland do on Tuesday?A. They work most of the time.B. They have fun most of the time.C. They have various work projects most of the day.D. They spend the whole day in the town of Pahoa.11. Where will we probably find the text?A. In a travel note.B. In an advertisement.C. In a newspaper story.D. In a textbookDEverywhere I look outside my home, I see people busy on their high-tech devices ( 装置 ), while driving, walking, shopping, even sitting on toilets. When connected electronically, they are away from physical reality.People have been influenced to become technology addicted. One survey reported that “addicted” was the word most commonly used by people to describe their relationship to iPad and similar devices. One study found that people had a harder time resisting the allure of social media than they did for sleep, cigarettes and alcohol. The main goal of technology companies is to get people to spend more money and time on their products, not to actually improve our quality of life. They have successfully created a cultural disease. Consumers willingly give up their freedom, money and time to catch up on the latest information, to keep pace with their peers or to appear modern.I see people trapped in a flu-like relationship with time-sucking technology, where they serve technology more than technology serves them. I call this technology servitude. I am referring to a loss of personal freedom and independence because of uncontrolled consumption of many kinds of devices that eat up time and money. What is a healthy use of technology devices? That is the vital question. Who is really in charge of my life? That is what people need to ask themselves if they are to have any chance of breaking up false beliefs about their use of technology. When we can live happily without using so much technology for a day or a week, then we can regain control and personal freedom, become the master of technology and discover what there is to enjoy in life free of technology. Mae West is famous for claiming the wisdom that “Too much of a good thing is wonderful.”But it’s time to discover that it does not work for technology.Richard Fernandez, a former CEO at G oogle acknowledged that “we can be swept away by our technologies.”To break the grand digital connection people must consider how life long ago could be fantastic without today’s overused technology.12. The underlined word “allure” in Paragraph 2 proba bly means ______.A. advantageB. attemptC.adaptation D. attraction13. From the passage, technology companies aim to ______.A. attract people to buy their productsB. provide the latest informationC. improve peo ple’s quality of lifeD. deal with cultural diseases14. It can be inferred from this passage that people ______.A. consider too much technology wonderfulB. may enjoy life better without overused technologyC. can regain freedom without high-tech devicesD. have realized the harm of high-tech devices15. What’s the author’s attitude towards the overusing of high-tech devices?A. ObjectiveB.PositiveC. DisapprovingD. Sympathetic第二节(共5小题,每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。

He probably isn’t sur e how it will all work out, but at least he tries. They are actually two different kinds of people, not just the same ki nd with different amounts of intelligence. And it is within easy walking distance of the coastline—one mile north of Highway 132, just off Highway 137.Solar power supplies our electrical needs, and water catchment tanks hold abundant rain water for our use. In a textbookDEverywhere I look outside my home, I see people busy on their high-tech devices ( 装置), while driving, walking, shopping, even sitting on toilets. When connected electronically, they are away from physical reality.People have been influenced to become technology addicted. One survey reported that “addicted” was the word most commonly used by people to describe their relationship to iPad andsimilar devices. Mae West is famous for claiming the wisdom that “Too much of a good thing is wonderful.”But it’s time to discover that it does not work for technology.Richard Fernandez, a former CEO at G oogle acknowledged that “we can be swept away by our technologies.” To break the grand digital connection people must consider how life long ago could be fantastic without today’s overused technology.12.
