It is one of a series of inter-related parts dealing with the thermal compatibility of repair products and systems. The other parts of this standard are :EN 13687-2, Products and systems for the protection and repair of concrete structures - Test methods -Determination of thermal compatibility - Part 2: Thunder-shower cycling (thermal shock).EN 13687-3, Products and systems for the protection and repair of concrete structures - Test methods -Determination of thermal compatibility - Part 3: Thermal cycling without de-icing salt impact.EN 13687-4, Products and systems for the protection and repair of concrete structures - Test methods -Determination of thermal compatibility - Part 4: Dry thermal cycling.EN 13687-5, Products and systems for the protection and repair of concrete structures - Test methods -Determination of thermal compatibility - Part 5: Resistance to temperature shock.Annex A is normative.According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.3EN 13678-1:2002 (E)41 ScopeThis European Standard is the first of five parts to assess the thermal compatibility of repair products and systems, including grouts, mortars and concretes and surface protection systems, used for the repair and protection of concrete structures. The method specified in this Part measures the effect of freeze-thaw thermal shock cycling with immersion in saturated de-icing salt solution. The method is suitable for repair products and systems based on CC, PCC and PC binders and for surface protection systems.2 Normative referencesThis European Standard incorporates by dated or undated reference, provisions from other publications. These normative references are cited at the appropriate places in the text, and the publications are listed hereafter. For dated references, subsequent amendments to or revisions of any of these publications apply to this European Standard only when incorporated in it by amendment or revision. After curing, the test specimen is subjected to freeze-thaw thermal shock cycling between (21 ± 2) °C and (-15 ± 2) °C, including immersion in saturated de-icing salt solution.Following the temperature cycling, visible defects are recorded and the adhesion of the repair product or system to the concrete substrate is determined by pull-off test.5 Apparatus5.1Laboratory,maintained at the standard laboratory climate of (21 ± 2) °C and (60 ± 10) % RH (see annex A).5.2Mixer, for mixing the constituents of the mortar. Unless stated otherwise by the manufacturer, use a forced action pan mixer.5.3Concrete test specimens, of dimensions 300 mm x 300 mm x 100 mm to EN 1766 and type as specified in prEN 1504-2 or prEN 1504-3.EN 13687-1:2002 (E)5.4Core drilling machine with a diamond tool, internal diameter 50 mm as specified in EN 1542.5.5Pull-off equipment, for measuring the pull-off strength according to EN 1542.5.6Tank containing saturated sodium chloride solution, controlled to (-15 ± 2) °C.5.7Water tank adjustable to (21 ± 2) °C.5.8Thermosetting resin for sealing the sides of the concrete test specimens to prevent penetration of the water solutions (see 5.6 and 5.7) into the concrete.6 Preparation of test specimensThree concrete test specimens (see 5.3) are required for each test, with one serving as a reference specimen. Immediately prior to application of the repair product or system or surface protection system, all materials shall be stored in the standard laboratory climate (see 5.1) for at least 24 h. The repair grout, mortar or concrete and/or the surface protection system shall be prepared and applied to the concrete test specimens in accordance with manufacturers instructions at the standard laboratory climate (see 5.1) or such alternative environments as may be specified for the intended use. After application of the repair product or system, the samples shall be cured in accordance with the requirements of annex A.NOTE Experience from the use of this test on CC repair products has shown that if the full 27 day water immersion curing condition is used, there is a significant danger of disruption to the concrete substrate due to freeze-thaw damage. A curing regime of 6 days underwater followed by 21 days curing in the standard laboratory climate is suggested. Before starting the test, all surfaces of the specimens except the 300 mm x 300 mm test face shall be coated with thermosetting resin (see 5.8) to prevent penetration of liquid into the side and rear of the concrete test specimen during the test, allowing full cure of the resin in accordance with the requirements for PC given in annex A.7 Test procedureAfter completing the preparation, two of the test specimens shall be immersed in water for 24 h. After this period, the test cycle shown in Figure 1 starts. One cycle lasts for 4 h and comprises the following stages:i) immersion in the tank containing saturated sodium chloride solution (see 5.6) at a temperature of(-15 ± 2) °C for 2 h ;ii) storage in the water tank (see 5.7) at a temperature of (21 ± 2) °C for 2 h.The two test specimens shall be stood on end, allowing a gap of at least 50 mm between the specimens.During an interruption of the cycle (e.g. overnight, at weekends, etc.), the test specimens shall be kept in the water tank at (21 ± 2) °C.NOTE 1Care is needed to ensure that the specified temperatures are maintained in the tanks at all times, using appropriate flow and control systems for the size of the vessels. In particular :place the test specimens into the tanks such that all sides are uniformly exposed to the test temperature ;place the test specimens into the storage tanks at a rate which ensures that the temperature in the salt solution and in the water does not either exceed - 13 °C or become less than + 19 °C respectively ;the level of the solution in the tanks should be such as to ensure complete immersion of the specimen for the duration of the test.NOTE 2The concentration of the salt solution can change with time and should be checked periodically.5EN 13678-1:2002 (E)Every ten cycles, the positions of the test specimens in the storage tanks shall be changed on a rotation basis, to compensate for any slight differences in temperature that may occur. The test cycle shall be repeated for the number of cycles specified in prEN 1504-2 and prEN 1504-3.The reference specimen shall be stored in the standard laboratory climate (see 5.1).8 Evaluation of resultsEvery ten cycles, the test specimens shall be visually inspected :i) for scaling and/or cracking if a PC, PCC or CC product is tested ;ii) for surface alterations (cracks, peeling, blistering, delamination, bubbling or other surface defects) if a surface protection system is tested.Cracks > 0,05 mm and any observed surface alterations shall be reported. The final visual inspection shall be performed at least 16 h after the end of the cycling. After the end of the cycling the two test specimens and the reference specimen shall be conditioned at the standard laboratory climate for not less than seven days. The pull-off strength of the repair product or system or surface protection system shall then be determined according to EN 1542.12Key1Temperature (deg °C)2Time(h)Figure 1 — Immersion cycle for the prepared test specimen6EN 13687-1:2002 (E)9 Test reportThe test report shall include the following information :a) a reference to this European Standard, including the number, title and date of issue ;b) name and address of the test laboratory ;c) identification number and date of the test report ;d) name and address of the manufacturer or supplier of the product(s) ;e) name and identification marks or batch number(s) of the product(s) ;f) date of supply of the product(s) ;g) date of preparation of the test specimens ;h) conditions of storage of prepared specimens prior to test ;i) date of test and details of test equipment used including the make, type and capacity and calibration details oridentification number of the apparatus ;j) the total number of cycles carried out ;k) the results (single values, mean values and standard deviations) of the pull off test including individual forms of fracture, and any observed surface alterations after removal from the test cabinet ;l) the type and dimension of the concrete test specimens according to EN 1766 ;m) a description of the product, system or surface protection system under test and whether it is a single or multi layer system ;n) precision data ;o) date of test report and signature.7EN 13678-1:2002 (E) 8Annex A (normative)Summary of temperatures and humidities for the curing, conditioning andtesting of repair products and systemsA.1 CuringA.1.1 CC (grouts, mortars and concretes)Prepare as EN 196-1, cover in film for 24 h ;demould after 24 h ;cure under water at (21 ± 2) °C for 27 days.A.1.2 PCC (grouts, mortars and concretes)Prepare as EN 196, cover in film for 24 h ;demould after 24 h and wrap in film for 48 h ;unwrap and cure for 25 days in a standard laboratory climate of (21 ± 2) °C and (60 ± 10) % RH.A.1.3 PC (grouts, mortars and concretes) and surface protection systemsCure for 7 days at (21 ± 2) °C and (60 ± 10) % RH.A.2 Conditioning and testingFor specific applications, the following definitions apply :A.2.1 Standard laboratory climate (Dry conditioning)Take from the curing/storage environment and condition for 7 days in a standard laboratory climate of(21 ± 2) °C and (60 ± 10) % RH.A.2.2 Wet conditioningImmerse for 7 days at (21 ± 2) °C, or for CC take directly for test after 28 days of immersion ;remove all surface water by standing upright for 30 min before using for tests.blank。

This applies to product filtering as well as sanitizing with hot water, and sterilizing with the stacked disc cartridges with saturated steam. In order to avoid damage to the filter cells, the system should be protected with a suitable non-return valve.Refer to the insert included with each BECODISC stacked disc cartridge carton for detailed application information.Depending on the filtered liquids, the operating temperature should not exceed 176 °F (80 °C). Please contact Eaton regarding filtration applications at higher temperatures.Intermediate PlatesIf more than two BECODISC stacked disc cartridges (12" or 16") with double O-ring adapters are stacked in the housing, install a central spindle for safety reasons. In the event, more than one 16" BECODISC stacked disc cartridge (flat adapter/double O-ring adapter) is used in the housing, Eaton recommends the installation of stainless steel intermediate plates between the BECODISC stacked disc cartridges. When silicone/FEP coated gaskets are used the stainless steel plates are mandatory. Sanitizing and Sterilizing (Optional)Sterilizing with Hot WaterThe hot water temperature should be 185°F (85 °C). A differential pressure of 21.8psi (150 kPa, 1.5 bar) must not be exceeded when sterilizing with hot water. Sterilization time: At least 30 minutes once a temperature of 185°F (85 °C) is reached at all filter openings. In the interest of energy conservation, the water may be circulated provided the specified temperatures are maintained.Sterilizing with SteamThe wetted BECODISC stacked disc cartridges can be sterilized with saturated steam up to a maximum temperature of 250 °F (121 °C) as follows:Steam quality: The steam must be free of foreignparticles and impurities. Temperature: Max. 250 °F (121 °C)(saturated steam)Duration: Approx. 20 minutes after steam exitsfrom all filter valvesRinsing: After sterilizing with 0.61 gal/ft²(25 l/m²) at 1.25 times the flow rateFilter Preparation and FiltrationUnless already completed after sterilization, rinse the stacked disc cartridges with 0.61 gal/ft² (25 l/m²) of water at 1.25 times the flow rate prior to the first filtration. Check the entire filter for leakage at maximum operating pressure.High-proof alcoholic solutions and products that cannot be rinsed with water should be circulated with the product. Discard the rinsing solution after rinsing. Differential PressureTerminate the filtration process once the maximum permitted differential p ressure of 43.5psi (300 kPa,3 bar) is reached. A higher differential pressure could damage the depth filter sheet material. For safety reasons, a differential pressure of 21.8psi (150 kPa, 1.5 bar) should not be exceeded in applications for separating microorganisms.SafetyWhen used and handled correctly, there are no known unfavorable effects associated with this product. Further safety information can be found in the relevant Material Safety Data Sheet, which can be downloaded from our website.DisposalDue to their composition, BECODISC stacked disc cartridges can be disposed of as harmless waste. Comply with relevant current regulations, depending on the filtered product.StorageBECODISC stacked disc cartridges must be stored in a dry, odor-free, and well ventilated place.Do not expose the BECODISC stacked disc cartridges to direct sunlight.BECODISC stacked disc cartridges are intended for immediate use and should be used within 36 months after production date.Quality Assurance According to DIN EN ISO 9001 The Quality Management System of Eaton Technologies GmbH has been certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001.This certification verifies that a fully functioning comprehensive Quality Assurance System covering product development, contract controls, choice of suppliers, receiving inspections, production, final inspection, inventory management, and shipment has been implemented.Extensive quality assurance measures incorporate adherence to technical function criteria and chemical purity and quality recognized as safe under the German legislation governing the production of foods and beverages. All information is given to the best of our knowledge. pests under typical conditions. However,at the dis-cretion of the applicator,Talstar PL may be applied at up to 0.4lb AI/A to control each of the pests listed in this Table. However, for residential lawn use,do not apply more than 0.2lbs.A.I.per Acre per application.Comments1Armyworms,Cutworms,and Sod Webworms:To ensure optimum control,irri-gate the treated area with up to 0.1inches of water immediately after application to activate (release from the granule)the insecticide.2Annual Bluegrass Weevil (Hyperodes)adults:Applications should be timed to control adult weevils as they leave their overwintering sites and move into grass areas. This movement generally begins when Forsythia is in full bloom and con-cludes when flowering dogwood is in full bloom.Consult your State Cooperative Extension Service for more specific information regarding application timing.3Billbug adults:Applications should be made when adult billbugs are first observed during April and May.Degree day models have been developed to opti-mize application timing.Consult your State Cooperative Extension Service for information specific to your region. In temperate regions, spring applications tar-geting billbug adults will also provide control of over-wintered chinch bugs.4Black Turfgrass Ataenius adults:Applications should be made during May and July to control the first and second generation of black turfgrass ataenius adults, respectively. The May application should be timed to coincide with the full bloom stage of Vanhoutte spiraea (Spiraea vanhouttei )and horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum ).The July application should be timed to coincide with the bloom-ing of Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus ).5Chinch Bugs:Chinch bugs infest the base of grass plants and are often found in the thatch layer.Irrigate the treated area with up to 0.25inches of water immedi-ately after application to activate (release from the granule)the insecticide.Chinch bugs can be one of the most difficult pests to control in grasses and the higher applications rates may be required to control populations that contain both nymphs and adults during the summer.6European Crane Flies:Treatments should be made to control early to mid-sea-son larvae (approximately August –February)as they feed on plant crowns.Treatments made to late-season larvae (approximately March -April)may only provide suppression.Consult your local extensions agent for specific recommen-dations for your area.7Flea larvae:Flea larvae develop in the soil of shaded areas that are accessible to pets or other animals.Irrigate the treated area with up to 0.5inches of water immediately after application to activate (release from the granule)the insecticide.8Imported Fire ants:Control will be optimized by combining broadcast applica-tions that will control foraging workers and newly mated fly-in queens with mound treatments that will control existing colonies. If the soil is not moist, then it is impor-tant to irrigate before application.Broadcast treatments should apply 0.2to 0.4lb AI/A.Mounds should be treated by applying cup of Talstar PL Granular per mound and then drenching the mound with 1to 2gallons of water. The mounds should be treated with sufficient force to break their apex and allow the insecticide solution to flow into the ant tunnels.Treat three feet out around the mound. For best results, apply in cool weather (65-80˚F)or in early morning or late evening hours.9Mole Cricket adults:Achieving acceptable control of adult mole crickets is diffi-cult because preferred grass areas are subject to continuous invasion during the early spring by this extremely active stage.Applications should be made as late in the day as possible and should be watered in with up to 0.5inches of water immediately after treatment. If the soil is not moist, then it is important to irri-gate before application to bring the mole crickets closer to the soil surface where contact with the insecticide will be maximized.Grass areas that receive pressure from adult mole crickets should be treated at peak egg hatch to ensure optimum control of subsequent nymph populations (see below).10Mole Cricket nymphs:Grass areas that received intense adult mole cricket pressure in the spring should be treated immediately prior to peak egg hatch.Optimal control is achieved at this time because young nymphs are more suscep-tible to insecticides and they are located near the soil surface where the insecti-cide is most concentrated.Control of larger, more damaging, nymphs later in the year may require both higher application rates and more frequent applications to maintain acceptable control.Applications should be made as late in the day as possible and should be watered in with up to 0.5inches of water immediately after treatment. If the soil is not moist, then it is important to irrigate before application to bring the mole crickets closer to the soil surface where contact with the insecti-cide will be maximized.11Scorpions:To ensure optimum control, treat the building perimeter at dusk to prevent outdoor scorpions from entering the building.Scorpions reside hidden in cracks and voids during the day and are active at night at temperatures above 77ºF/25ºC.Resting areas can be identified at night using a blacklight (UV bulb)as scorpions will fluoresce. These areas should also be treated.Prior to treatment,to increase treatment efficacy, remove trash, debris,or firewood that scorpions may use as resting sites.12Ticks (Including ticks that may transmit Lyme Disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted fever):Do not make spot applications.Treat the entire area where exposure to ticks may e higher application rates when treating areas with dense ground cover or heavy leaf litter.Ticks may be reintroduced from surrounding areas on host animals.Do not allow public use of treated areas dur-ing application.Deer ticks (Ixodes sp.)have a complicated life cycle that ranges over a two year period and involves four life stages.Applications should be made in mid to late-spring to control larvae and nymphs that reside in the soil and leaf litter.American dog ticks may be a considerable nuisance in suburban settings,par-ticularly where homes are built on land that was previously field or forest. These ticks commonly congregate along paths or roadways where humans are likely to be encountered.Applications should be made as necessary from mid-spring to early fall to control American dog tick larvae, nymphs and adults.Perimeter Application:Apply to ground area 5to 10feet wide around and adjacent to the structure.Applic.Rate:Pounds Per Band 1,000sq.ft.Width 1001502002503004005001,0002.35feet 1.3 1.9 2.5 3.0 3.6 4.8 5.911.72.310feet 3.0 4.2 5.3 6.57.69.912.223.73.05feet 1.7 multiplying the linear dis-tance by the band width and then adding to that value the area of a circle whose radius is equal to the band width (to account for the area treated at the four cor-ners of a rectangular structure).Pounds of Talstar PL Granular for Perimeter ApplicationsLinear Distance (Feet)Around Structure Boundary Applications:Apply to soil areas, ornamental gardens,pave-ment crevices, fencelines, planter areas, vegetation areas and mulch areasIn New York State, this product may NOT be applied to any grass or turf area within 100feet of a water body (lake, pond, river, stream, wetland,or drainage ditch). In New York State,do make a single repeat application of Talstar PL Granular if there are signs of renewed insect activity, but not sooner than two weeks after the first application.STORAGE AND DISPOSALProhibitionsDo not contaminate water, food or feed by storage or disposal.Pesticide StorageKeep out of reach of children and animals.Store in original con-tainers only.Store in a cool, dry place and avoid excess heat.Carefully open containers. After partial use close tightly. In case of spill, avoid contact, isolate area and keep out animals and unprotected persons.Confine spills.Call FMC:(800)331-3148.To confine spill:Cover to prevent dispersal.Place damaged package in a holding container.Identify contents.Pesticide DisposalWastes resulting from the use of this product may be disposed of on site or at an approved waste disposal facility.Container DisposalPaper and plastic bags:Non-refillable.Do not reuse or refill this pletely empty bag into application equip-ment.Then offer for recycling,if available,or dispose of empty bag in a sanitary landfill or by incineration,or,by burning.Do not burn unless allowed by state or local authorities. If burned, stay out of smoke.Page 3INDUSTRIAL NON-AGRICULTURAL APPLICATIONS (Including Industrial Sites,Parks,Ball Fields and Cemeteries)Broadcast Spot Applications:For the control of actively foraging ants (including Imported Fire Ants)broadcast uniformly 2.3to 4.6lbs.Talstar PL granular insecticide per 1000sq.ft.(0.2to 0.4lbs.a.i./Acre).See comments section under Lawn Applications for additional rate recom-mendations.Pad Mounted Electrical Sites:To reduce or prevent ant mound build-ing activity on electrical pads, uniformly distribute 1.0to 1.5Tablespoons (0.06to 0.09lbs.)of Talstar PL granular insecticide per 4sq.ft.of mounting pad.Where existing transformers are completely or partially filled with soil excavated by resident ants, remove any excess fill and level the remaining soil prior to application.Food utensils such as tablespoons must not be used for food purposes after use in measuring pesticides.Note:Electrical transformers appear to be more attractive to ants dur-ing the cooler months. For best results treat in the Fall or early Spring.Resistance:Some insects are known to develop resistance to products used repeatedly for control.Because the development of resistance cannot be predicted, the use of this product should conform to resis-tance management strategies established for the use area.Consult your local or state pest management authorities for details. If resistance to this product develops in your area, this product,or other products with a similar mode of action, may not provide adequate con-trol.If poor performance cannot be attributed to improper application or extreme weather conditions,a resistant strain of insect may be present. If you experience difficulty with control and suspect that resistance is a reasonable cause, immediately consult your local company representa-tive or pest management advisor for the best alternative method of con-trol for your area.Fire ant mound treatment:Apply 1/2cup of Talstar ®PL Granular Insecticide per mound and then drench the mound with 1to 2gallons of water. The mound should be drenched with sufficient force to break its apex and allow the insecticide to flow into the ant tunnels.Treat three feet out around the mound. For best results, apply in cool weather (65to 80˚F)or in early morning or late evening hours.Treat new mounds as they appear.Food utensils such as teaspoons and measuring cups should not be used for food purposes after use with insecticideConditions of Sale and Limitation of Warranty and Liability:NOTICE:Read the entire Directions for Use and
