My parents are fond of going to art galleries and often take me with them, so I've developed an interest in art. I must say, I love that picture of the six horses. They look so alive. It's by a Chinese artist, isn't it? I can tell by the style. I think the painting of the young girl is probably by Picasso. I really like him. I think he's an extraordinary artist.

Ⅰ.阅读理解Garden building is considered an important part of Chinese culture. Some people say that if you have never walked through a Chinese garden, you cannot say that you have really visited China.Traditional Chinese gardens are located in North China in such places as the Summer Palace, the Forbidden City. In larger imperial gardens, the main buildings are connected by an imaginary line in the middle on the north-south axis (轴). Other features of imperial gardens are coloured paintings, man-made hills and lakes. Most private gardens are found in the south, especially in cities south of the Yangtze River. Private gardens were mostly built at one side or at the back of houses. Around the beautiful scene are small open areas with beautiful shaped doors through which visitors can enjoy sights. They are open on all sides and are often near water so that the whole scene can be enjoyed. Suzhou, known as home to gardens, displays the most and the best Chinese traditional private gardens. Different parts of it are examples of the garden styles of the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. The landscape gardens contain a number of pleasant natural scenes and some fairy tales. The ancient Chinese used to call the garden landscape “Jing”,which means “Scene” in English. Good examples include the ten West Lake scenes in Hangzhou, the twenty-four Slim West Lake scenes in Yangzhou and the eight Daming Lake scenes in Jinan.语篇大意:本文主要介绍了中国的园林建筑,风格各异,特色万千,都是中国园林文化中不可缺少的一部分。

高中英语外研版必修2Module 4 Section Ⅰ Introduction & Reading — Pre-reading

MonaLisa is a 16thcentury portrait painted by Leonardo da Vinci during the Italian Renaissance (文艺复兴), which now is under the care of Louvre in Paris. It is perhaps the most famous painting in the world. But who was the heroine and what is the story behind the mysterious smile? Its identity remains uncertain. Some researchers say that she was the widowed (寡居的) Duchess of Milan. Others say it is possible that she was Mona Lisa Gherardini, the third wife of the wealthy silk merchant Francesco. The smile of Mona Lisa has kept people guessing. Someone says that the smile originated (起源,发端) from Leonardo da Vinci’s mother, Caterina. Others say the smile is quite simple because women were taught to smile so as to add an air of mystery and elegance at that time. The truth is that this style of smile was not invented by Leonardo da Vinci. It can be found in a number of sculptures (雕塑) from the 15th century. No one knows the truth behind this famous painting except Leonardo da Vinci himself, but people are so fond of it and would enjoy guessing. In fact, there are many fine art forms in western countries and Chin a as well. It’s thesefine arts and pop arts that make our life colourful.
