With The Truman Show, the elastic-faced, loose-limbed dynamo shows he can also be as serious as needed, in the title role of this imaginative tale of an electronic-age guinea pig. Screenwriter Andrew Niccol, whose directing debut, Gattaca, cautioned against the potential tyranny of genetic advances, again finds reasons for paranoia in technological progress, as an innocent named Truman Burbank becomes the unknowing, all-consuming subject of a 24-hour television network. Niccol's unconventional fable is superbly realized by director Peter Weir (Fearless, Dead Poets Society, Witness), who fashions a disorienting visual style to fit the artifice and pent-up anxiety of Truman's world.Niccol and Weir shrewdly immerse the audience in this oddly cheerful environment, without immediate explanations of what's really going on behind its sunny fa‡ade. Truman lives with his wholesome wife Meryl (Laura Linney) in a picture-perfect house in the squeaky-clean island community of Seahaven, where he works for a large insurance firm. His days pass by uneventfully, until a series of incidents shake him out of his complacency: A huge piece of lighting equipment falls out of the sky. A homeless man appears who looks just like Truman's dead father. Strange radio transmissions, like stage directions, come out of his car radio. For the first time, Truman begins to suspect that something is rotten in Seahaven.Nearly halfway through the film, we learn the truth: Since birth, Truman has been watched by a phalanx of hidden cameras, his every waking move transmitted to an increasingly addicted, international television audience. Seahaven is actually the world's largest studio set; the sky, the ocean, the stars and the sunsets are fakes, and the weather is controlled by outside forces. What's more, everyone Truman encounters in his daily routine is an actor-even his wife and his best friend Marlon (Noah Emmerich) are on the payroll. This enormous charade is the handiwork of Christof (Ed Harris), a megalomaniacal conceptual artist who sees nothing wrong with the mass-appeal social experiment he's concocted.Christof has kept Truman from puncturing the boundaries of his world by staging a childhood boating accident in which the boy's father apparently drowned; Truman has been deathly afraid of the water ever since. The other key incident in Truman's life was unplanned-a budding romantic affair with a 'college student' who tried to spill the secret of Seahaven, but was suddenly sent away to the island of Fiji (or so Truman believes). The Truman Show begins just before this fantasy world begins to crumble, following a long and profitable run for Christof and his network backers. Niccol cannily maintains our involvement throughout, first by keeping the action shrouded in mystery, then by giving us a strong rooting interest in Truman's poignant quest for identity and freedom. It's an ideal role for Carrey: Truman's freakish situation offers him several dramatically valid opportunities to cut loose in the patented Carrey fashion, while maintaining the essential humanity of this socially deprived Everyman. In career terms, the part of Truman Burbank is an important turning point for this gifted comedian. The Truman Show strains credibility, however, in its cynical view of a world that embraces what is, after all, a rather cruel and disturbing experiment. Granted, the daily spectacle of audiences cheering brawls and fistfights on 'The Jerry Springer Show' proves we haven't come far from the Roman Coliseum era, and the public's salacious interest in scandals ranging from O.J. to JonBenet Ramsey reveals a whopping insensitivity to personal tragedy. But The Truman Show, despite its attempt to put an upbeat final-act spin on its hero's struggle, takes it as a given that the world would look in on Truman's unwitting imprisonment without much more than a few scattered protests. This one important caveat aside, Weir and Niccol have come up with a bracingly original cinematic experience, an eerie but entertaining vision of one man's struggle against a high-tech Big Brother he doesn't even know exists. Dennis Gassner's hermetically sealed production design and Peter Biziou's resourceful cinematography make a perfect fit with Weir's lively, lyrical directing style. It may be Jim Carrey's show, but he shares the bill with some equally daring high-wire walkers.楚门的世界 The Truman Show 英文影评review by ROGER EBERT2008-03-14 23:12:33 来源:Internet 浏览次数:1277 文字大小:【大】【中】【小】简介:``The Truman Show'' is founded on an enormous secret that all of the studio's advertising has been determined to reveal. I didn't know the secret when I saw the film, and was able to enjoy the little doubts and wonderings that the filmmakers so carefully planted. If by some good chance you do not know the secret, read no further. Those fortunate audience members (I trust they have all left the room?) will be able to appreciate the meticulous way director Peter Weir and writer Andrew Niccol have constructed a jigsaw plot around their central character, who doesn't suspect that he's living his entire life on live television. Yes, he lives in an improbably ideal world, but I fell for that: I assumed the movie was taking a sitcom view of life, in which neighbors greet each other over white picket fences, and Ozzie and Harriet are real people.Actually, it's Seaside, a planned community on the Gulf Coast near Tampa. Called Seahaven in the movie, it looks like a nice place to live. Certainly Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey) doesn't know anything else. You accept the world you're given, the filmmakers suggest; more thoughtful viewers will get the buried message, which is that we accept almost everything in our lives without examining it very closely. When was the last time you reflected on how really odd a tree looks? Truman works as a sales executive at an insurance company, is happily married to Meryl (Laura Linney), and doesn't find it suspicious that she describes household products in the language of TV commercials. He is happy, in a way, but an uneasiness gnaws away at him. Something is missing, and he thinks perhaps he might find it in Fiji, where Lauren (Natascha McElhone), the only woman he really loved, allegedly has moved with her family. Why did she leave so quickly? Perhaps because she was not a safe bet for Truman's world: The actress who played her (named Sylvia) developed real feeling and pity for Truman, and felt he should know the truth about his existence. Meryl, on the other hand, is a reliable pro (which raises the question, unanswered, of their sex life).Truman's world is controlled by a TV producer named Christof (Ed Harris), whose control room is high in the artificial dome that provides the sky and horizon of Seahaven. He discusses his programming on talk shows, anddismisses the protests of those (including Sylvia) who believe Truman is the victim of a cruel deception. Meanwhile, the whole world watches Truman's every move, and some viewers even leave the TV on all night, as he sleeps. The trajectory of the screenplay is more or less inevitable: Truman must gradually realize the truth of his environment, and try to escape from it. It's clever the way he's kept on his island by implanted traumas about travel and water. As the story unfolds, however, we're not simply expected to follow it: We're invited to think about the implications. About a world in which modern communications make celebrity possible, and inhuman.Until fairly recently, the only way you could become really famous was to be royalty, or a writer, actor, preacher or politician--and even then, most people had knowledge of you only through words or printed pictures.Television, with its insatiable hunger for material, has made celebrities into ``content,'' devouring their lives and secrets. If you think ``The Truman Show'' is an exaggeration, reflect that Princess Diana lived under similar conditions from the day she became engaged to Charles.Carrey is a surprisingly good choice to play Truman. We catch glimpses of his manic comic persona, just to make us comfortable with his presence in the character, but this is a well-planned performance; Carrey is on the right note as a guy raised to be liked and likable, who decides his life requires more risk and hardship. Like the angels in ``City of Angels,'' he'd like to take his chances.Ed Harris also finds the right notes as Christof, the TV svengali. He uses the technospeak by which we distance ourselves from the real meanings of our words. (If TV producers ever spoke frankly about what they were really doing, they'd come across like Bulworth.) For Harris, the demands of the show take precedence over any other values, and if you think that's an exaggeration, tell it to the TV news people who broadcast that Los Angeles suicide.I enjoyed ``The Truman Show'' on its levels of comedy and drama; I liked Truman in the same way I liked Forrest Gump--because he was a good man, honest, and easy to sympathize with. But the underlying ideas made the movie more than just entertainment. Like ``Gattaca,'' the previous film written by Niccol, it brings into focus the new values that technology is forcing on humanity.Because we can engineer genetics, because we can telecast real lives--of course we must, right? But are these good things to do? The irony is, the people who will finally answer that question will be the very ones produced by the process.。
the truman show

The movie is about Truman had been placed in the studio, his growth environment is completely arranged, his every act and every move was being watched. Truman later found out about this, therefore he chose to leave the studio. At the beginning of this movie was so asleep, but the later plots I was moved by this movie. After watching this film, I found it is similar with my life.Since I was child until high school, and I almost liked Truman. The show's director of Truman Show just like God, created a miniature world for Truman. I look back my previous twenty years, almost all arranged by my parents, what clothes I should buy, which school I should attend, what type friends I should make, I think may be in the future I will marry with a man whose I doesn't like. I found I like Truman's life, has been living in the control of others. And ultimately like Truman, I walked out of the parental control. I againsted my parents will, choosing a university far from my hometown. But my life is reality, it has become a possible world that may Truman left that theworld. Long time under the arrangement of my parents, I have lost the independent thinking and judgment ability, so the reality gave me a painful lesson. I noticed that the words in that film director has said: "listen to me, Truman. There's no more truth out there than there is i n the world I created for you. Same lies. The same deceit. But in my world, you have nothing to fear. " At that moment, I seem saw the life I should have. There is no denying that I felt a little regret. May be parent's arrangement is right that I was not supposed to against them. I wanted to go back to the road which should be plain sailing. But at the same time, I am also soberly aware of-- this is life. I walk out of the perfect world, and it is high time to work up the nerve to struggle. I feel suffering and also feel lucky, learned to tumble also learned to climb up. I think that's what the movie wants to say: get out of shackles, brave pursuit. In the movie, this lens appears at least three time: director Christof across the screen touch Truman? The presence of so many times, and its meaning is about the father's love for son. I'm opposed to this opinion, how preposterous that the father put his son's life in public's eyes. "Touch" is more like a kind of appreciation that director to his "masterpiece". The movie, metaphorically, that our society is not too different from the one depicted in it- that we are both the victim and the villain of this perversive and pervasive situation. The director Christof is a villain in this movie, but I more appreciate this sentence: "If he(Truman) more than a vague ambition, if he was determined, to discover the truth, there's no way we could prevent him." That is we should struggle for our life, and fortunately, Truman escaped his control and lived for himself. In the movie, the audience willingly exploits Truman's life for the sake of entertainment and excitement. It's a illness social, they put Truman's life into screen, and deprivation his freedom, privacy, and dignity, but none of guilty. I remember clearly, after Truman escapes the virtual world, the guards said "what else is on?Let's see what else is on..." In their opinions, Truman's life is only a show for their entertainment, in that respect, whether your life legendary or ordinary, needn't to attention others eyes.As the audiences of Truman show, they are Peeping Tom in a way, and it the same as us which in front of the movie screen. In daily life, we often not only just focusing on the surface of things, but also paying more attention to the parties private action, so we have what difference with the audiences in the movies? We are not only concerned about the star's performance in show, but also follow the trend of amplification comment on their appearance in private online. To think about it, although we live in contemporary society, we just like the audiences in the movies, all our happy or angry, sad or joyous are controlled by the director.I dare to say that The Truman Show is the most wonderful film I've been watched. So that every time I watch the blue sky, I would suspect whether it true or not. Reading Hemingway's novel The Old Man and The Sea, I always feel sad that whenever I read the old man takes difficult hardship, last only get a fish skeleton. If I write this novel, I must want to let the old man win glory. Later I found that this was the reason why I couldn't become Hemingway. If the old man really brought the ship of harvest, let everyone sit up and take notice, then this story is only the ordinary comedy story, it can't become a classic, also lost the original shock of spiritual power. Individual is small in front of fate, is fragile. The old man can't avoid aging and death, Truman can't avoid Christof's man-made storm waves, humans also can't hide the fate. However, the big fish is almost only skeleton, the old man still fights with the shark, and Truman almost overturned drowned by the sea, he still refused to return. This is not to break the shackles of fate, but knowing you can't break the shackles of fate, still taking up arms. This is the nobility of the human spirit.Life there are all kinds of frustration and coincidence, there are always behind the stage. I appreciate Truman's optimistic and elegant. " Good morning, and in case I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night."。

观《The Truman Show》有感《The Truman Show》,以其不可抗拒的吸引力把我带入了它的世界。
The Truman Show

Analysis of The Truman Show——Mise-en-scène英美文学与电影2011级英语02班20110914 刘思辰Analysis of The Truman Show——Mise-en-scèneThe Truman show is an American comedy drama film directed by Peter Weir. It deserves great appreciation for its unique approach: switching the images between program of Truman and "real life" of the director and spectators. In the beginning, the hero Truman led what seemed to be a simple life on the island. He knows nothing but that the rest of spectators watch him a 24-hour-day reality programming but something was wrong in his life. He gradually tries his best to get away from the surroundings where are full of strange scenes and events. In the end, he obtains the precious freedom. Anyone can get a kind of inspiration after watching it.Mise-en-scène is what we see in a film. It refers to those elements of a movie scene that are put in position before the filming actually begins and employed in certain ways once it does begin. Mise-en-scène includes everything that is visible onscreen. Next, I will analysis the movie The Truman Show from the point of the Mise-en-scène. The specific expressions are just as follows.Set designSet design is an important part of almost any theatre production, as almost every show will utilize some sort of set, however minimal. Set design can be used to amplify character emotion or the dominant mood, or to establish aspects of the character. The set is, strictly speaking, a constructed setting, often on a studio soundstage and it can combine natural and constructed elements. In each film, the film designer and director have to decide to shoot on the real place or on set. The main distinction between the two is that décor and props must be taken into consideration when shooting on set. Most of the films choose to shoot on set, because it is more cost effective. In the film The Truman Show, it’s a combination of the real place and sets. Sometimes it just uses the real places, sometimes it uses the constructed sets.Example:These scenes are in the last of the film. It is obvious a constructed sets. Along his path to truth and escape, Truman encounters obstacles placed in his way, including choreographed traffic jams, the inability to arrange any trips, sudden breakdowns of transport, a non-existent nuclear meltdown, and an artificially created hurricane on the “ocean”. He finally reaches the edge of the constructed reality and exits via a door in the wall, cheered on by an audience of millions. Christof finally talks to Truman from the clouds. He tries to convince Truman, but Truman choose to escape. When he touches the fake wall, all the audience's emotions are to the climax, this scene is the most exciting moment in the whole movie.LightingOne of the most important dimensions of Mise-en-scène is lighting, which not only allows an audience to observe a film’s action and understand the setting in which the action takes place but also draws attention to the props, costumes, and actors in the Mise-en-scène. The intensity, direction, and quality of lighting have a profound effect on the way an image is perceived. Light affects the way colors are rendered, both in terms of hue and depth, and can focus attention on particular elements of the composition.Example:In the film, sometimes it using the natural light to create a sense of authenticity. In this scene, Truman and his best friend look at the beautiful sunset. Truman tells his friend that he wants to live for a while. The natural light make us feel the mood of Truman, it’s very calm. The natural light help amplify character emotion and the dominant mood.Example:In this scene, it relies on the three-point lighting style. In order to model Truman’s face with a sense of depth, light from three directions is used, as in the diagram blow.A backlight picks out the subject from its background, a bright key light highlights the object and a fill light from the opposite side ensures that the key light casts only faint shadows. Truman fell in love with Lauren when he first saw her. When he is missing her, he see her in the library. At that time, in order to model Truman’s face with a sense of depth, it uses the three-point light. The main character Truman is rendered glamorous by the balanced lighting.SpaceSpace is also very important for a film. The representation of space affects the reading of a film. Depth, proximity, size and proportions of the places and objects in a film can be manipulated through camera placement and lenses, lighting, decor, effectively determining mood or relationships between elements in the story world. Frontality is a common method. Frontality refers to the staging of elements, often human figures, so that they face the camera square-on. This arrangement is an alternative to oblique staging. Frontal staging is usually avoided by the invisible style of continuity editing, since it supposedly breaks the spectator's illusion of peeking into a separate world, by having characters look directly into the camera as if they were aware of the viewers' presence. Some films may go even further and have the characters speak to the camera, in what is called a direct address. Accordingly, frontality is often used in films that are more willing to play with, or openly defy, the distance between the screen and the spectator. At the beginning of the film, the main character Truman speak directly to the camera. This scene is very interesting. We know Truman is living in a constructed reality television show, broadcast 24-hours-a-day to billions of people across the globe. The enclosed studio allowed the producers, directors and crew to control every aspect of Truman's environment, including the weather. But Truman has no idea about that. This scene let Truman look directly into the camera as if he were aware of the viewer’s presence. So it’s very interesting.CostumesCostumes are the clothing that the characters dressed. Costumes in narrative cinema is used to define the character, or advertise particular fashions, or to make clear distinctions between characters and contribute to the visual impression and design of the film overall. We know that the students wear uniforms, the doctors wear white gown, but actually, it’s far more than that. how actors are costumed and made up can play a central part in a film, describing tensions and changes in the character and the story.Example:In this film, the main character Truman wear the same clothes in most of the times, he seldom change his clothes. We all know that Truman was watched 24-hour-day by the rest of spectators, it’s a reality programming. His entire life was not real, including his parents, best friend and even his wife. Every day he met the same people, he goes to same place to work, everything is just like yesterday. Because the other people are all actors, the other things are all not real. The same suit reveal that the character living in a specific place, it contributes a lot to the theme.Example:This scene is in the last part of the film. In this scene, Truman wears a coat and a sailor hat, he looks very handsome. We can feel he is very happy at that moment, because it has a big smile in his face. Although he lives in a small town, he loves adventure. His heart was full of questions and passions to this world, which force him to go outside the Seaheaven to find his true love and even his real life. The costumes here draw out or point to important parts of Truman’s personality. It helps us to what the true man is like.ActingThe actors are at the center of the Mise-en-scène. Performance describes the actor’s use of language, physical expression, and gesture to bring a character to life and to communicate important dimensions of that character to the audiences.Because the characters help us see and understand the actions and world of a film, the success or failure of many films depends upon an actor’s performance.Film actors have to learn to get used to and be comfortable with a camera being in front of them.Film actors need to learn to find and stay on their "mark." This is a position on the floor marked with tape. This position is where the lights and camera focus are optimized. Film actors also need to learn how to prepare well and perform well on screen tests. Screen tests are a filmed audition of part of the script.Example:When Truman was young, he dreamt to be an explorer, but was told the world had nothing to explore. He dreamt to leave the island, but indirectly resulted his father’“death”.But one day, he found his father who had died because of him appeared at the gate of his company. In order to dispel his doubts, the director arrange his father to reunite with him. We can feel the character’ strong emotion, he hugs his father tightly with tears in his eyes. Because the actor has the superb acting, and it makes this scene was so touching.Example:Christof is the supporting character of this film. He plays secondary character in the film, he plays a very important role in this whole film. At the end of the film, Truman is awake, and he told the camera, really the “God” strike played out. But Christof told him that leaving the control of the world is very dangerous. Because of him, the plot of this film is very smooth. He was awarded as the Best Supporting Actor of Golden Globes in 1999.After I have watched the movies, sometimes I wonder if I also live in that fake world, am I the real leading role of my Truman Show? I don’t know. If I live in this situation, I will be angry and want to escape from this huge prison. I will feel disrespe ct and boring because in my mind no one has the right to arrange my life. No one can control it including me. My life is supposed to be an adventure. Nobody knows what i s going to happen. If it is like a soap opera as Trumann’s, it will be meaningless. Nobo dy wants to be a victim of media. But I have to admit, media is powerful, we can’t liv e without it and we have to suffer from it, especially stars. In my view, the Truman show is a profound film. After watching the film, I was always feeling that maybe where the camera would monitor me. In fact, I am more luck. Otherwise, I would found uneasy if I lost freedom and private space. As we know, everyone is born to be free and equal. Truman’s losing was too much-losing freedom, truth of the real life. I will enjoy my free life every day, every minute. Of course, I should have a positive attitude in face for hamper. We may live in a perfect planned life or face with choices. So I think the figure of Truman can be a lighthouse in life which guides us out of trouble and to a bright future. The word Truman said: “In case I don’t see you, good afternoon, good evening and good night.” I think that should be a life gospel and everyone needs that.。

Isn't that just the wildest thing you've ever heard? The movie starts off showing Truman as a little baby, being "born" on the show. Except it's not a real birth, it's just acting. They have to act completelynatural so Truman never suspects anything is up. The only ones who know the truth are the viewers watching at篇2The Truman Show Movie ReviewWow, The Truman Show was such an interesting and thought-provoking movie! I had heard a little bit about it before watching, but I didn't fully understand the crazy premise until experiencing it myself. The main character, Truman Burbank, has lived his entire life on an enormous TV set without realizing that his whole world and everyone around him are completely fake! From the very beginning, we see Truman going about his daily routine in the cheerful, picturesque town of Seahaven. Everything seems perfectly normal at first. Truman has a nice house, a good job at an insurance company, and a loving wife named Meryl. But then some really weird things start happening that make you go "Huh??"Like when Truman tries to leave Seahaven on a ferry, and his vehicle suddenly gets bombarded by special effects like fire, wind, and objects falling from the sky to block his path. Or the time when a backdrop falls from the sky right in front of Truman, revealing a tiny glimpse of the enormous studio surrounding his town. So bizarre! My favorite parts were watching Truman slowly start to notice and question all the strange coincidences and setups in his life. Like how a light object "falls" in the same pattern every single morning to hit him on the head as he's leaving for work. Or how there's constantly bright lighting like at a studio following him wherever he goes.It was hilarious yet disturbing watching Truman's friends and wife having to follow tight scripting and camera cues in order to convince Truman his life is authentic. Meryl, his on-screen wife, has to act giddy and overjoyed at all times so Truman won't suspect she's just a paid actor. There's even a scene where Truman gets frustrated that Meryl has memorized the floor plan of their home down to the foot!I felt really bad for Truman because even though he's living in a beautiful place and seems happy on the surface, you can tell he feels trapped and like something isn't quite right about his world. He has hardly any privacy since he's being watched by cameras and crew 24/7. I was cheering for him the whole time to finally escape and discover the shocking truth about his reality being one enormously scripted set.The creator of the Truman Show, Christof, was such an unsettling villain because he justified exploiting and deceiving Truman for decades as an art form and for entertainment value. He constantly gives fake scenarios to Truman, like killing off his father in a made-up storm, or hiring an actress to play his wife. Christof thinks of Truman as his personal puppet who has no right to the truth.I was riveted during the tense climax when Truman starts piecing everything together and makes a daring attempt to sail out of Seahaven and into the real world. The special effects were mind-blowing, like when the crew has to create a massive artificial storm to once again try blocking Truman's escape. You're just waiting for the moment when Truman finally breaks free from the giant dome covering his world. When Truman does finally step through the exit door into the real world outside the studio, it was such a powerful and liberating scene. I loved his defiant speech calling out Christof and the show for robbing him of human rights and a genuine life experience. At the end when Truman waves to the audiences who've been watching his life as entertainment, I felt amazed that he faced so much courage to embrace reality, no matter how unpleasant. The Truman Show raised so many fascinating questions for me about what's real versus fake, the ethics of television/media exploitation, and the universal human need for truth. Even though the premise is totally out there and extreme, a lot of the ideas resonated with me about feeling pressured to behave certain ways or not being offered real choice in life. I'm still pondering so much of it!This movie was honestly mind-bending, hilarious, and just brilliant storytelling in my opinion. The message of gainingself-awareness, breaking free from deception, and seeking an authentic life really struck a chord with me. Even the supporting characters were masterfully crafted, like Truman's only true friend who tries dropping him hints about his reality.I'd highly recommend The Truman Show to anyone who wants to be totally absorbed in a creative, well-acted film that makes you think deeply about the human condition. Just watching Truman make the empowering choice to accept reality was so gratifying and unforgettable. What an intricate, poignant movie! I give it 5 out of 5 stars. This is definitely going to be one I'll need to watch again to fully grasp all the thought-provoking layers.篇3The Truman Show - A Movie That Made Me ThinkHave you ever felt like everyone was watching you? Like you were living in a big reality show? That's how I felt after watching The Truman Show! It's a crazy movie about a guy named Truman Burbank whose entire life is actually a giant TV show that millions of people watch every day without him knowing it.Truman was adopted at birth by a television company. They used cutting-edge technology to build an entire fake town called Seahaven just for him to live in. Every person in Seahaven is an actor, even Truman's wife and best friend! There are hidden cameras everywhere recording his every move 24/7. The set has a huge dome over it with a painted sky and artificial lighting to simulate day and night. It's all totally fake except for Truman himself. From the very beginning of his life, Truman's world has been controlled and scripted. As a baby, they hired an actress to play his mother. As he got older, they hired more actors to play people in his life like neighbors, teachers and co-workers. Truman has no idea that none of it is real. He thinks Seahaven is just a normal, ordinary town.Watching the movie, I felt bad for Truman. His whole life was a lie! He never got to make篇4The Truman Show - A Movie About a Guy Whose Life Was a Big TV Show!Have you ever wondered what it would be like if your whole life was just one big TV show and you didn't even know it? That's exactly what happened to Truman Burbank in the movie "The Truman Show"! Let me tell you all about this crazy movie.Truman was adopted as a baby by a TV studio. They built this huge dome set that looked like a regular town called Seahaven. Everyone who lived there, except for Truman, was an actor getting paid to be on the show about Truman's life 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! Can you imagine having cameras following you around everywhere you went - even the bathroom?! So strange! As Truman grew up, weird things kept happening that made him wonder if something was off about his world. Like one time, a light came loose from the sky and fell right in front of him. Another time, he was reading a magazine with a picture from the set on the cover! But whenever he asked questions, the actors brushed it off like nothing weird was going on.My favorite part was when Truman tried to get out of Seahaven by taking a boat and sailing past the horizon. But the studio had created a special effect of dark clouds and high waves that made it too dangerous to leave. So he had to turn back! It made me so mad that they wouldn't let him go explore the real world.Truman's wife was also an actress, but she ended up feeling sorry for him being trapped. She tried to tell him the truth that his life was just a TV show, but the studio kicked her off before she could explain everything. That's when Truman really started to catch on that something bizarre was happening. Finally, after noticing too many strange things, Truman was determined to escape the fake town and studio set. Even when the crew created a crazy storm to try and stop him from leaving, he still made it all the way to the exit door and was able to step out into the real world for the first time ever! I was so happy for him.By the end, Truman was free from the fake life he had been trapped in. I felt so bad that he had been lied to his entire life just so people could watch him on TV. It made me appreciate being able to go outside and travel to real places instead of being stuck inside a studio set. This movie really makes you think about how much of our lives is maybe an act or a performance, and what is truly real versus fake. It's pretty deep for a kids' movie! I liked that it had funny moments but also made you feel sad for Truman too. I definitely recommend watching "The Truman Show" if you want to see a wild and creative movie.Overall, I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars! It was so imaginative and kept me wondering what would happen next the whole time. Plus Jim Carrey was hilarious as Truman. What did you think of the movie? Let me know if my review makes you want to watch it or not!篇5The Truman Show - A Movie ReviewWow, what a movie! The Truman Show was so interesting and made me think a lot. It's about this guy named Truman Burbank who has no idea that his whole life is actually a huge TV show that millions of people watch every day. Crazy, right?Truman was born and raised on this totally fake set made to look like a normal town called Seahaven. Everything and everyone around him is actually an actor or staff memberworking on the show. Even his wife and best friend are actors! The only person who doesn't know it's all fake is Truman himself. From the time he was a tiny baby, every single moment of Truman's life has been broadcasted live to viewers across the world. There are thousands of hidden cameras all over Seahaven recording everything he does - when he eats, sleeps, goes to work, you name it. People tune in 24/7 to watch the Show and see what Truman does next. The creator of the show is this crazy television guy named Christof. He basically controls and directs every aspect of Truman's artificial world from a huge studio command room. If the script calls for a storm or someone new to arrive in town, Christof makes it happen with tricks and paid actors. He's like a controlling movie director except Truman's whole life is the movie! At first, I thought the whole premise was really messed up. Like, how could they do that to Truman without him knowing?? It's such an invasion of his privacy and super unethical. Watching someone's intimate life for entertainment just feels weird and wrong to me.But as the movie goes on, you start to see how tragically lonely and unfulfilled Truman feels in his little fake bubble world. No matter what he does or who he's with, he can't shake the feeling that something is majorly off in his life. He's stuck in a constant cycle feeling depressed and discontent without knowing why.Even though he appears to have the perfect family, great job, lovely home, and sunny utopia to live in, Truman is deeply unsatisfied. All the money, blue skies, and manufactured happiness in the world can't fill the empty void he feels. I felt so sad watching him struggle to find purpose and meaning in his meaningless fake existence. Trapped in a phony world without any awareness or control over it.That's when I realized this show, as unethical as it seems, might actually be giving Truman more than it's taking away. By watching him, the viewers get to analysis and think critically about what it really means to be free, to have knowledge of the truth, and find genuine happiness and purpose. Weighty philosophical stuff that kids like me don't usually ponder. When Truman finally starts catching on that everything is a sham, the intensity and suspense of the movie gone through the roof! I was on the edge of my seat watching him piece together clue after clue that his world is not what it seems. He gets soclose to breaking free and escaping to a real life so many times, but Christof always finds an insane way to pull him back in.The huge sailing scene at the end was so epic and cinematic. Truman finally takes his freedom after living a lie for three decades. Sailing away across that painted sea backdrop was such a symbolic and beautiful moment. I had goosebumps watching him trade an artificial reality for the scary-yet-liberating truth of the real world. Even though he lost everything he ever knew, at least now he was free. After watching all of Truman's struggles, I realized how important and precious the basic human rights of truth, free will and spiritual freedom really are. He was denied all of those and it nearly destroyed his soul. We're supposed to be able to think for ourselves, ask questions, and live an authentic life without deception. At the same time, I see why Christof did what he did. He gave Truman a utopian life free of poverty, crime, suffering and ugliness. A perfectly groomed childhood and overly positive world. In Christof's eyes, he was protecting Truman from harsh realities and human flaws. He wanted to prove that he could create a real heaven on earth by controlling every single element of it.So in the end, The Truman Show makes you think hard about important stuff like what's more valuable - the ugly truth or a pretty lie? Security or freedom? A phony existence created for you or a real life you have to make on your own? Heavy stuff for sure, but that's what's so awesome about this brilliant movie. It makes you question and think critically in a way most TV shows and movies don't.I'd totally recommend The Truman Show to anyone who wants to watch an original, suspenseful, mind-bending movie. Just get ready to get your brain tied in knots while you ponder all the deep philosophical questions it brings up! Even though I'm just a kid, this movie made me feel like a little philosopher trying to figure out what's real and what's fake. I'll never watch TV shows or movies the same way again, that's for sure!篇6The Truman ShowI recently watched a movie called "The Truman Show" and it was super duper cool! The story was about a guy named Truman who lived in a town called Seahaven. But guess what? Seahaven wasn't a real town at all! It was all part of a big TV show and Truman was the star!Truman had no idea that his whole life was being filmed and broadcasted to the whole world. Can you imagine that? Every single thing he did, from eating breakfast to going to work, was all watched by millions of people. It was like he was living in a giant fishbowl!Truman started to feel something was not quite right. He noticed strange things happening around him. Like when a light fell from the sky, or when his wife always seemed to know what he was going to say. He started to question everything and wanted to find out the truth.Truman was a brave and curious guy. He decided to go on an adventure to discover what was really going on in his life. He faced many challenges and obstacles along the way, but he never gave up. I think that's a really important lesson from the movie – to always follow your heart and never stop searching for the truth. One of my favorite parts of the movie was when Truman sailed away on a boat to escape Seahaven. The whole world was watching and cheering for him. It was so exciting! Truman showed us that it's okay to be different and to break free from what everyone expects of you. He taught us to be brave and to believe in ourselves."The Truman Show" made me think a lot about reality and what is truly important in life. Sometimes we get so caught up in our routines and what others expect from us that we forget to live our own lives. Truman reminded me to be true to myself and to follow my dreams, no matter what. The movie also made me realize the power of television and media. It showed how people can be manipulated and controlled by what they see on the screen. It's important to think critically and not just believe everything we see or hear.In conclusion, "The Truman Show" is an amazing movie that teaches us about courage, truth, and the importance of living our own lives. Truman's journey was inspiring and it made me think about my own life too. I would definitely recommend this movie to everyone, no matter how old you are. It's a movie that will make you laugh, cry, and think. So go grab some popcorn and enjoy "The Truman Show"!。
观the Truman Show有感

1. A Brief Account of Its Background of The Truman Show
The Truman Show was a black comedy directed by Peter Weir, who was born in Australia. The film is released on 1st June,1998,which is acted by Jim Carrey, a famous comedy actor who has been well-known for "The King of Hollywood comedy".
2. The Story of The Truman Show
Truman is determined to spare no effort to get over varieties of obstacles set up by Christof, attempting to break away from the dictatorship of Christof after finding himself robbed of freedom, and makes it in the ultimate.
3. What’s Interesting
3.1. Truman, who has been in ignorance of living in a utopia over the span of his lifetime,in which Christof acts exactly like the god. What a folly it is!From my point of view,I perceive our life will be of no meaning when it is beyond our control and almost nobody would like to lead a lifestyle just like a soap opera as Truman’s because we all are always desperate for freedom.
3.2. With the economic globalization, mass media are playing a more and more significant role in every corner across the whole world. However,we are so bombarded with negativity that is important to be aware of the effect that the media has on us at the same time. For instance, there is a probability that citizen’s privacy may be exposed to outside, especially for public figures.
3.3. With so much negative influence from media, then are there any measures that we can adopt to avoid us suffering from media? In my opinion, the most important of all is that we ought to form the ability to distinguish between right and wrong amongst mass media instead of blindly accepting what we hear in the media.
4. Conclusion
Notwithstanding that mass media benefit us a lot,we are supposed to make the most use of them rather than rely on them.。
