雅思英语作文 learning a foreign language 孩子上学就应该开始学习外语吗?

Children should begin learning a foreign language as soon as they start school.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion. You should write at least 250 words.Model Answer 1:Nowadays, we live in a globalised advance era in which learning a new language has become one of the great concerns of every person. Some people believe that since one language is not adequate for communication, children should start to learn a foreign language in their primary schools. I strongly agree with this statement due to the following reasons.First of all, if someone wants to see outcome soon, one must start sooner. To be more precise, brain ability in learning new language reduces with growing up. Additionally, scientists claim that unlike the misconception of parents, children do not confuse the words of their mother tongue with a studied language, but they learn more efficiently. Secondly, learning a new language can broaden children’s horizon because of enhancing their social skills. When they learn a foreign language, they become more interested in that country and can make a connection with more easily. Moreover, they can cope with their future issues related to their fieldof study by having access to the variety of sources presented in their second language. When children start their early education, their minds remain fresh and they can catch more information. It is the ideal time to learn a new language so they can master the language in short time. Besides, they do not learn a language all of a random. Rather this is decided by the parents, teacher and that has a cultural perspective that the children should learn at the earlier stage rather than the later stages of life. Finally, adults always are afraid of making mistakes when they learn a new language andthis fear is one of the biggest barriers in this process. Moreover, they are always distracted with their problems related to their work, family and etc. Therefore, they need more efforts in comparison to the children.Model Answer 2:Language is the best means of communication. In the modern globalisation era, it is not enough to be able to speak one language to communicate with the outside world. I strongly support the idea that children should begin learning a foreign language as soon as they start school. They faster become familiar with astrange language, improve their hearing ability to understand new words as time goes by and learn new words. In the following paragraphs, I will list some reasons to support my position. First of all, if one wants to see outcome soon, one must start sooner. So, the early children begin to learn a new language the better will be the result. Scientists say that a child does not confuse two different languages but learns them more effectively. If children learn a foreign language at an early age, then he/she can cope with the different cultures and enjoy a better position to read more books written in foreign language. Second, adults are often afraid tomake mistakes when they are speaking in a new language. This fear is one of the biggest barriers for a person in his efforts to speak freely. Otherwise, children do not afraid of making grammatical mistakes because basically they just repeat words and sentences in the way they hear them. Also, children have a better chance to get rid of an accent. They faster get used to the right pronunciation and better feel the melody of a language. To sum up, I think that it is essential for children to begin learning a foreign language in their early ages. It brings many benefits such as great pronunciation. Also,it helps a child develop and gain more knowledge which is good for a long run.Model Answer 3:Today, learning foreign languages is a great beneficial skill because we live in a communicated era and knowing different languages makes communication easier, therefore I personally agree that foreign language should be taught to children as early as possible.Firstly, human brain ability will decrease when they grow up. Several recent research indicatesthat children can memorise and understand new languages automatically after they are born until 4 years, and afterwards, this ability will decrease. So adults need more efforts to learn such things. As a result, it is better that somebody trains them as soon as they start school.Furthermore, in this age children do not have any involvement in important tasks or problems, because they do not have any responsibility to worry about and can concentrate on their study, they can learn new things quickly and more efficiently. On the contrary, adults concern about jobs, earning, future, personal and social life andmany other things. Also, they can learn another language more easily in their childhood than in adolescence period. Finally, some people disagree with this matter and claim that the other subjects are more important than learning foreign languages and it is better that teachers allocated the time of this subject to another field such as mathematics and science, however, researchers believe that learning a foreign language help to improve other skills, since it is very challenging and enhance the brain’s abilities. In conclusion, I personally think, children should learn another language as soon as possible because their brains are more ready to understand new information and also they have less distraction when they study.Model Answer 4:It is believed that the best time to learn a foreign language is at the early age. Therefore, some people think children should be taught new language as they start school. I personally disagree with the statement, since the children might get stressed, and there are other lessons which are more important than a foreignlanguage. The following paragraphs will explain some of the reasons in detail.Firstly, it is undeniable that children start their formal education at an early age these days. Some parents have registered their children at the age of three or four, but others have enrolled their children at the age of two. During these periods, children are in the process of learning their mother tongue language. They are still learning the alphabetical words, pronunciation, grammar and vocabularies of their native languages. If the children are then taught a newlanguage, then there is a risk that the children might get mixed up or confused.Secondly, the early-aged children should focus on learning other important things, besides a new language. They should learn subjects like arts and sport. Art is an essential subject for the children as it teaches them about colours and creativities, while sports are also vital for the development of the children’s physical appearance. Besides that, it is also important to teach the children about numbers as well, as it is beneficial for their further studies. In conclusion, I personally disagree that the children should learn a foreign language at the early age. It is better for the children to focus on their native language first, and there are other subjects which are more important for them to learn.。

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Children should begin learning a foreign language as soon as they start school. Use reasons and examples to support your position.I agree that children should begin learning a foreign language as early as they start school. The reasons are that children can be stimulated by a new subject, they are more flexible for precise pronunciation, and they can have more chances in the future.First, if children start learning a foreign language when they enter school, their curiosity for the language can be stimulated. They can be shown that beyond their own native language other nations use different ones. If they are interested in the language, they are willing to learn more enthusiastically. Moreover, the foreign language is also like some other subjects such as drawing pictures, and mathematics. The more subjects they can choose, the better chances for teachers or parents to discover the field which they have interest in and are good at.Second, children are good learners for language compared with older people. Since they are young, their vocal organs have not fully developed. They are flexible in changing their accents. That children are likely to pronounce more precisely than adults may result from the fact that they are less influenced by their mother language. Furthermore, they have more opportunities to access the language. Of course, a twelve-year-old child who just has begun learning a foreign language cannot be compared with his peers who learned it from the age of six. The simple reason is that the more opportunities to use it, the better the child will master the language.Third, starting to learn a foreign language as young as possible provides more future opportunities for them. Since they begin learning in their early age, when they graduate from their high school, they may qualify for some exchange programs to study abroad, it will be a great chance for them to live in different circumstances and cultural settings, to improve their language skills and to learn more about other cultures, which will be a precious experience for them. Moreover, if they are not satisfied with this and want to further improve themselves in that language, they can benefit by receiving high scores in some requested tests to apply for outstanding foreign universities. Consequently, they will be more competitive in the labor market why they graduate. In conclusion, for both short-term and long-term benefits, children should begin their foreign language education immediately alter they start school.Students at universities often have a choice of places to live. They may choose to live in university dormitories, or they may choose to live in apartments in the community. Compare the advantages of living in university housing with the advantages of living in an apartment in the community. Where would you prefer to live? Give reasons for your preference. There are many styles of accommodation around a campus for students to choose from. Some students may live in university dormitories, and some may live in private apartments, while others may live in rented houses or in their own houses. Among those four styles above, living in dormitories or apartments in a city is most popular because of their convenience and inexpensive rental. Many students choose to live inside universities rather than outside, since they can save extra expenses, such as travel costs, the margin of rental cost and living expense, and time lost everyday when living in apartments. Almost all the university students study hard, they spend most of their time from dawn till twilight in the institute in classes and self-study. In the evening, many students love to do some sports before going back to self-study till midnight. So these resident students are not much worried about the time to wake up, go sleep, or take a journey. Of course, when they do not have continuous classes, for example, one class in the morning and another in the late afternoon; then they easily go back to their dormitories for a rest. As we know, apartment rental costs and living expenses in communities are more expensive than campus dormitories; therefore, students can save the margin of rental costs of apartments for other necessary things such as textbooks and notebooks when living in dormitories. On the other hand, many students decide to live in apartments because they feel more private and happier to live sometimes alone than all day long with friends. In addition, they are bored to reside day and night in universities, have three meals a day in the same dining room, and go to the faculty, office, library, dining room ,and gymnasium everyday. Simply, living in communities adds some seasoning in their life since they have more chances to see something new or developing around communities, know many people living different life styles outside the campus, and learn more about social culture. Students living in communities can tale part in all activities in universities like resident students; and they also have opportunities to learn many things from the outside.Comparing advantages of living in dormitories with those of living in apartments, I feel more comfortable living in a campus, because I can pay more attention to study, save more money from the margin of living expenses and have more time to rest after studying hard. As a result, I firmly prefer to live in campus. Many students have to live with roommates while going to school or university. What are some of the important qualities of a good roommate? Use specific reasons and examples to explain why these qualities are important.Roommates can influence each other in various ways. Therefore, choosing a roommates to live with is a much more important decision than most students think. To me, it is like whether you can give your house key to someone whom you trust when you go out. I must have full faith in this person without a doubt in my mind that he will respect my privacy and personal belongings. Furthermore, being with someone casually and living with somebody are two very different things. The one in my consideration worth being my roommate must have specific qualities I am caring for. The most important quality in my opinion should be honesty. Other traits I would treasure are cleanliness and law-consciousness.If I am going to live with someone, it is imperative for him/her to understand and practice honesty. Honesty means respect for my privacy and personal possessions. My belongings are of high value to me and I want to be able to leave the room worry free; that is, even my most insignificant piece of property goes untouched unless permission is granted. Since I would treat the other person’s property in the same fashion, I expect it in return.I also cannot stand to live in a disorganized place where everything is in a mess. I am a neat person and to me, everything has its own place. I like things to be organized so I know exactly where they are when I need them. I found that I did not get along well with messy people. This is not to say that I don’t have messy friends, but living with messy people is a different matter.Being conscious about the law is also an important characteristic to me because I don’t want to get caught up in problems resulting from someone else’s illegal activities. Even though I might not have committed any crime, I could still be involved because I live with the one who committed it. Some of the illegal issues can also be contagious, in which I might have participated merely because I was around it. I want my slate to be completely clean, so the one living with me should have a good knowledge of the law. There are many people I can go out with but I would not choose to live with. To live with my, they should be honest, tidy, and know the law, at the very least.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Business should do anything they can to make a profit. Use specific reasons and examples to support your position. Some people think that businesses should do anything they can to make a profit. In my opinion, it is a selfish mentality because there are other things and much more that a business should and can do besides making profits, such as considering the rights and benefits of the workers and customers. Besides, a business had the responsibility to serve the community. The most important thing that businesses need to realize is that only when they give priority to the rights and benefits of the customers will they deserve the profits that have been made. Businessmen earning money by playing tricks on consumers or making profits out of dishonesty can never carry on with success and the businesses are not far away from their destruction. To thrive in the fierce market competition, a company should always try to produce high-quality products and provide good service to its customers. Gaining trust from customers is the first step for business success.Equally important, the rights and benefits of the workers must be respected. If a business is making a large profit, it should share it with all who have worked hard and conscientiously to make that profit possible. If a worker cannot get what he deserves either economically or mentally he may not be able to work as effectively and enthusiastically as usual. Trust and fidelity from the worker are essential to the very survival of a company. The other important thing is that some of the profits a business earns from the community should be returned to the community, in other words, part of the profits should be allocated to serve the community. For instance, if a big company is earning big money, it should never forget that the money comes from community and that it should return some of the profits back to the community in one way or the other, for example, to build a park for people living in the community or set up a public nursery for the children of the workers, which will help win the trust of the worker. The reputation and credit of the business will be lifted to a new height, which in return will benefit the business itself.Generally, it can be said that an ultimate objective for a business is to make profits, but a business should never do anything detrimental to the rights of the customers, workers and the community to make a large profit. Quite the contrary, businesses should do their part to contributeto the welfare of the groups.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Classmates are a more important influence than parents on a child’s success in school. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. When it comes to whether classmates exert more influence than parents on a child’s success in school, I would claim that classmates play a more significant role. My opinion is very convincing due to the following reasons.First of all, the similar psychology between children and their classmates allows them to communicate better. Parents focus too much on the children’s academic performance but do not know hoe to better help them to learn. In contrast, classmates are able to share their difficulties in learning and help each other to explain the lecture clearly or solve hard problems together. When children fail in their exams, their parents often let him down by punishing or shouting at him. On the other hand, his classmates, who totally understand the situation, may encourage them to try harder the next time simply by talking and listening to them. Moreover, children are at school now much more than at home, which guarantees close contact among classmates. Children are inevitably affected by people with whom they spend more time. This is also the reason why the gap between parents and children is getting greater. Due to the fact that classmates share most of their time together, they, therefore, can understand, sympathize, and influence each other much more.In addition, children in a class are under the same pressure, which stimulates more mutual understanding and tolerance. They all attempt to study according to their parents’ wish and their teachers’ guidance. They all have to face the great pressures of various examinations. Their task in common is to become good students. Through the difficulties in being successful students, classmates build a concrete friendship between each other. In conclusion, neither the role of parents nor classmates in school should be denied, but I believe that the children’s success is affected more by their classmates than by their parents.。
