一、什么是“3R”“3R”即替代(Replacement)、减少(Reduction)和优化(Refinement)三个英文单词的字头。

3R作为一个系统理论最早在1959年英国动物学家William Russell 和微生物学家Rex Burch提出,随后逐渐得到世界范围内广大科技工作者的认同,被广泛采用。

特别是近20年来,随着生物技术的快速发展,人们对3R的理解不断深化,3R的概念也不断得到扩展,而且越来越深入人心。

1. 替代是指使用没有知觉的实验材料代替活体动物,或使用低等动物替代高等动物进行试验,并获得相同实验效果的科学方法。

实验动物的替代物包括范围很广,所有能代替整体实验动物进行试验的化学物质、生物材料、动植物细胞、组织、器官,计算机模拟程序等都属于替代物,也包括低等动物植物(如细菌、蠕虫、昆虫等)。

2. 减少是指在科学研究中,在动物实验时,使用较少量的动物获取同样多的试验数据或使用一定数量的动物能获得更多的试验数据的科学方法,减少的目的不仅仅是降低成本,而是在用最小的动物达到所需要的目的,同时也是对动物的一种保护。
