它使用独特外差法将这些高频信号转换为音频信号，让使用者通过耳机来听到这些声音，并且通过可视化的屏幕使得局放位置显示在仪器屏幕上。
检测原理:
电气/电力设备的常见故障：电晕、电痕、电弧。
电晕和早期的电痕不会产生热量，红外技术无法检测，但它们会产生超声波信号，超声波技术可以检测到；局放发生在设备内部是,红外方法难以检测，超声波检测仪在设备表面或结合处可以检测。
