It requires only one 5V power supply in normal read mode operation. Any byte can be accessed in less than 45 ns, eliminating the need for speed reducing WAIT states on high-performance microprocessor systems.Atmel’s scaled CMOS technology provides high-speed, lower active power consump-tion, and significantly faster programming. Power consumption is typically only 8 mA in Active Mode and less than 10 µA in Standby.The AT27C512R is available in a choice of industry-standard JEDEC-approved one-time programmable (OTP) plastic PDIP, PLCC, SOIC, and TSOP packages. All devices feature two-line control (CE, OE) to give designers the flexibility to prevent bus contention.With 64K byte storage capability, the AT27C512R allows firmware to be stored reli-ably and to be accessed by the system without the delays of mass storage media. The supply current, I CC, has three segments that are of interest to the system designer: the standby current level, the active current level, and transient current peaks that are produced by the falling and rising edges of E. The magnitude of the transient current peaks is dependent on the capaci-tive and inductive loading of the device at the output. The associated transient voltage peaks can be suppressed by complying with the two line output control and by properly selected decoupling capaci-tors. It is recommended that a 0.1μF ceramic capacitor be used on every device between V CC and V SS. This should be a high frequency capacitor of low inherent inductance and should be placed as close to the device as possible. In addition, a 4.7μF bulk electrolytic capacitor should be used between V CC and V SS for every eight devices. The bulk capacitor should be located near the power supply connection point. Programming:When delivered (and after each erasure for UV EPROM), all bits of the NTE27C512 are in the “1”state. Data is introduced by selectively programming “0”s into the desired bit locations. Although only “0”s will be programmed, both “1”s and “0”s can be present in the data word. The only way to change a “0” to a “1” is by die exposure to ultraviolet light (UV EPROM). The NTE27C512 is in the program-ming mode when V PP input is at 12.75V E is pulsed to V IL. The data to be programmed is applied to 8 bits in parallel to the data output pins. The levels required for the address and data inputs are TTL. V CC is specified to be 6.25V ±0.25V.Program Inhibit:Programming of multiple NTE27C512s in parallel with different data is also easily accomplished. Ex-cept for E, all like inputs including GV PP of the parallel NTE27C512 may be common. A TTL low level pulse applied to an NTE27C512’s E input, with V PP at 12.75V, will program that NTE27C512. A high level E input inhibits the other NTE27C512s from being programmed.Program Verify:A verify (read) should be performed on the programmed bits to determine that they were correctly programmed. The verify is accomplished with G at V IL. Data should be verified with t ELQV after the falling edge of E.Erasure Operation:The erasure characteristics of the NTE27C512 is such that erasure begins when the cells are ex-posed to light with wavelengths shorter than approximately 4000Å. It should be noted that sunlight and some type of fluorescent lamps have wavelengths in the 3000−4000Å range. Research shows that constant exposure to room level fluorescent lighting could erase a typical NTE27C512 in about 3 years, while it would take approximately 1 week to cause erasure when exposed to direct sunlight. If the NTE27C512 is to be exposed to these types of lighting conditions for extended periods of time,Erasure Operation (Cont’d):The recommended erasure procedure for the NTE27C512 is exposure to short wave ultraviolet light-which has a wavelength of 2537Å. The integrated dose (i.e. UV intensity x exposure time) for erasure should be a minimum of 15W−sec/cm2. The erasure time with this dosage is approximately 15 to 20 minutes using an ultraviolet lamp with 12000 W/cm2 power rating. The NTE27C512 should be placed within 2.5cm (1 inch) of the lamp tubes during the erasure. Some lamps have a filter on their tubes which should be removed before erasure.。

It requires only one 5V power supply in normal read mode operation. Any byte can be accessed in less than 45 ns, eliminating the need for speed reducing WAIT states on high-performance microprocessor systems.Atmel’s scaled CMOS technology provides high-speed, lower active power consump-tion, and significantly faster programming. Power consumption is typically only 8 mA in Active Mode and less than 10 µA in Standby.The AT27C512R is available in a choice of industry-standard JEDEC-approved one-time programmable (OTP) plastic PDIP, PLCC, SOIC, and TSOP packages. It requires only one 5V power supply in normal read mode operation. Any byte can be accessed in less than 45 ns, eliminating the need for speed reducing WAIT states on high-performance microprocessor systems.Atmel’s scaled CMOS technology provides high-speed, lower active power consump-tion, and significantly faster programming. Power consumption is typically only 8 mA in Active Mode and less than 10 µA in Standby.The AT27C512R is available in a choice of industry-standard JEDEC-approved one-time programmable (OTP) plastic PDIP, PLCC, SOIC, and TSOP packages. All devices feature two-line control (CE, OE) to give designers the flexibility to prevent bus contention.With 64K byte storage capability, the AT27C512R allows firmware to be stored reli-ably and to be accessed by the system without the delays of mass storage media. Atmel’s AT27C512R has additional features to ensure high quality and efficient pro-duction use. The Rapid Programming Algorithm reduces the time required to program the part and guarantees reliable programming. Programming time is typically only 100 µs/byte. The Integrated Product Identification Code electronically identifies the device and manufacturer. Unless accommodated by the system design, these transients may exceed datasheet limits, resulting in device non-conformance. At a minimum, a 0.1 µF high frequency, low inherent inductance, ceramic capacitor should be utilized for each device. This capacitor should be connected between the V CC and Ground terminals of the device, as close to the device as possible. The address is set to the first location. V CC is PP is raised to 13.0V. Each address is first programmed with one 100 µs CE pulse without verification. Then a verification/reprogramming loop is executed for each address. In the event a byte fails to pass verification, up to 10 successive 100 µs pulses are applied with a verification after each pulse. If the byte fails to verify after 10 pulses have been applied, the part is considered failed. After the byte verifies properly, the next address is selected until all have been checked. OE/V PP is then lowered to V IL and V CC to 5.0V.
