Some students are kicking shuttlecocks, skipping ropes, and turning hula hoops. Some are playing ball games. And others are performing group dancing. Even some teachers can’t help joining us. What a happy and exciting scene! Instead of repeating the previous long-break activities which was dull and boring, we can now carry on a wide variety of interesting activities freely. We can do what we like. And we can even create some new games ourselves.I do like this kind of long-break activities. Not only can it help to build up students’body, but also it is an effective way to promote a harmonious relationship among students and between students and teachers. It is through this kind oflong-break activities that students’ awareness of cooperation, competition and communication can be improved, which is of great benefit to making our school life colorful and building up a positive schoolyard atmosphere and culture.录音原文Conversation 1W: Guess what?M: What?W: I’ve just received a letter from English World.M: Really? I often read that magazine. What did it say?W: They’ve accepted my story. They’ve chosen me. I’m going to a conference in Beijing.M: Terrific! Good for you! Have you told your parents?W: They were happy for me. Isn’t that great? Two weeks in Beijing! And that’s not all. An iPad for myself.M: That’s great news! Come on! Let’s tell Mr. Black and our other classmates.Conversation 2M: Would you please tell me the cost per night for a single room with a bath? W: Well, it depends on what season it is. There’s a minimum price for off-season.A single room at the moment would cost you 50 dollars. During the peak season, it is twice as much.M: What time are meals served here?W: Breakfast is served from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.; lunch from 12:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; and dinner from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m..M: Thanks for the information. I’ll take a single.Conversation 3M: Let’s have a coffee break, shall we?W: I wish I could, but I can’t.M: Why? What is keeping you so busy? You have been sitting here for hours. You’ve got to walk around. You can’t just stay on your computer forever.W: Well, I’m up to my neck in work. I’ve got to finish this report. Sarah needs it by noon. I don’t want to be scolded if I can’t finish my work before the deadline. M: I understand that, but you’d feel better if you took a break, even for just a short while. Then you’re sure to work more efficiently.W: Emm. OK. A cup of black coffee, please.Conversation 4M: Oh, I just got some bad news today.W: What happened, Terry?M: Today the boss called me into his office and told me they had to lay me off. Thatmeans I’m out of work.W: Oh! I am so sorry. You really liked working there.M: Yeah, well, it’s not all bad news. There’s still a small chance that the company will call me back in the summer if the work picks up. You never know what’ll happen. They might need me then.W: Oh, this is so sudden, isn’t it?M: Well, sort of. Two other employees lost their jobs last month. I had a feeling I might be the next in line. You know. I’ve only been working there since last October. If they’re going to lay someone off, it’s always going to be the newer employees first.W: Oh, what are you going to do?M: Well, I plan to go to some interviews.Conversation 5W: Holding a fashion show must be really challenging, Billy?M: Yeah, but it’s also fun. All the clothes have to be numbered so that the models wear them in the right order. And they also have to be marked with the names of the right models.W: It would be awkward if the clothes were worn by the wrong models.M: More than awkward. It would be terrible. First impressions are so important. A lot of clothes are sold because they look good at the show.W: Does everyone have to practice before a fashion show?M: Certainly! A fashion show is more than models and clothes. Special lighting and music are also key factors during the show.W: No wonder it always appears perfect!M: And someone is usually there to talk about the clothes as the models are on the stage.Conversation 6M: Hello, welcome to our programme, Today’s City. I’m Larry. We’re going to Louisville, Kentucky where our guest Michelle Ray comes from. She is proud of her middle-sized city with a small-town feel and big-city dreams. Now, Michelle, tell us about your city.W: Thank you, Larry. Here is my city. Louisville is my city. The first place I take a visitor from out-of-town is to the Highlands for shopping and night life. When I have delicious Asian food I always go to the Zen Garden, which provides wonderful all-vegetable dishes.M: Wow, that’s interesting. Many people go for healthy food now.W: You can say that again. If I want to go camping and fishing I go to the Red River area. For complete quiet, I can hide away in my house with a good book from one of our public libraries.M: That all sounds very exciting. I’m sure some of our listeners will include Louisville in their travel plan for their next holiday, Thank you, Michelle.Mini-talkTo get a driver’s license, you must take three tests. The first test is a vision test. This test checks your eyes to see if you have to wear glasses when you drive. The second test is a written test that checks your knowledge of highway and traffic regulations. You can prepare for this test by studying a booklet that you can get in the driver’s license office. After you pass the written test, you receive an instruction permit. This permit allows you to practice driving with an experienced driver. The last test you have to take is a road test. This checks your driving ability. If you pass it, you will receive your driver’s license. When you go to the driver’s license office to take the road test, you must provide your own vehicle. First, the license examiner checks the mechanical condition of your car. Then the examiner gets into the car with you and asks you to drive in regular traffic. While you are driving, the examiner tests you for such things as starting, stopping, turning, backing up, and parking. If you can’t control the car properly, or if you break a traffic rule while you are taking the test, you fail the examination. You’ll have to continue to practice until you take the road test again and pass it.。

Well thanks Alex for your ideas.Conversation 5M: Hello.W: Good evening, Sir. Is this Mr. Charles Philips?M: Yes, it is.W: Well, Mr. Philips. This evening, I'm calling to offer you a special discount on…M: Ah, no, let me guess. You want to sell a subscription to the newspaper or a great deal on airfare to Hawaii, right? Or, you want to offer me an unbelievable bargain on flamenco dance lessons.W: No, no, actually… Mr. Jones. Oh, sorry. That was the last guy. Uh, we want to offer you a free trial membership to our sports club downtown at the introductory price of $39.95…M: Thirty-nine ninety-five?! I thought you said free! Uh, listen. I'm not interested.W: Well, it includes unlimited access to all our facilities, including the gym, weight room, racket ball courts, and swimming pool.M: Again, I'm not interested. I have my own fitness program I do around the house anyway.W: Well, this is a once-in-a-lifetime deal.M: Nah. Like I said, I'll pass this time. And please put me on your "don't call" list.W: Okay. It'll take between four and six months before your name will be removed from our database. You might be called by another representative during that time.M: Ah, months! Great!W: Have a nice evening, Mr. Williams.M: Ah, man.Conversation 6W: Freedom Travel. How may I help you?M: Yes, I'd like to make a flight reservation for the twenty-third of this month.W: Okay. What is your destination?M: Well. I'm flying to Helsinki, Finland.W: Okay. Let me check what flights are available? And when will you be returning?M: Uh, well, I'd like to catch a return flight on the twenty-ninth. Oh, and I'd like the cheapest flight available.W: Okay. Let me see. Um, hmm…M: Yeah?W: Well, the price for the flight is almost double the price you would pay if you leave the day before.M: Whoo. Let's go with the cheaper flight. By the way, how much is it?W: It's only $980.M: Alright. Well, let's go with that.W: Okay. That's flight 1070 from Salt Lake City to New York, Kennedy Airport, transferring to flight 90from Kennedy to Helsinki.M: And what are the departure and arrival times for each of those flights?W: It leaves Salt Lake City at 10:00 AM, arriving in New York at 4:35 PM, then transferring to flight 90 at 5:55 PM, and arriving in Helsinki at 8:30 AM the next day.M: Alright. And, uh, I'd like to request a vegetarian meal.W: Sure, no problem. And could I have you name please?Mini-talk:Computers are now part of daily lives. With the price of a small home computer now as low as $150, computer experts predict before long all schools, businesses and most families in the richer parts of the world will own computers of some kind. Among the general public, computers arouse strong feelings —people who either love them or hate them. The computer lovers talk about how useful computers can be in business, in education and at home —apart from all the games. You can do your accounts on them, learn languages from them, write letters on them, use them to control your central heating, and in some places even do your shopping with them. Computers, they say, will also bring some leisure, as more and more unpleasant jobs are taken over by robots. The haters, on the other hand, argue that computers bring no leisure but unemployment. They worry, too, that people who spend all their time talking to computers will forget how to talk to each other. But their biggest fear is that computers may eventually take over human beings altogether.。

What I’d like to introduce to you is Nian’gao, which is one of the most popular and typical dishes eaten during the Spring Festival. Nian’gao is a kind of rice pudding and it can be roasted, fried, or steamed. A s the name suggests, Nian’gao symbolizes abundance, wealth and prosperity for both the family and the country. In the Chinese New Year, eating Nian’gao, people may think of “Nian”. Then what is “Nian”? Nian was originally the name of a monster beast that started to prey on people the night before the beginning of a new year. But Nian was frightened of red color and cracker sound. So our ancestors would put up red paper decorations on their windows and doors, and set off fire-crackers to scare away Nian. Today we still keep these traditions, feeling the red color and the cracker sound add to the excitement and atmosphere of the celebration. That’s all. Thank you for listening.听力原文Text 1:W: Dinner is ready!M: It is so nice of you. You needn’t have prepared so many dishes.W: Please help yourself! It was a little wooden horse with a fixed front wheel. Because the wheel was fixed, it could not be turned right or left. The only way it could be controlled was by the rider pushing against the ground with his or her feet. In 1817, a German replaced the fixed front wheel with one that could be turned. Now the wooden horse could be directed right or left. The rider still needed to push it with his or her feet on the ground. In 1839, a Scottish MacMillan designed the first bicycle-like machine with foot board and rode it for 40 miles in only 5 hours. The bicycle got more comfortable in 1869 when rubber tires were introduced. Around the same time, the front wheels began to grow larger while the back wheels got smaller. During the 1880s, bicycles enjoyed a sudden growth in popularity. However, they weren’t very safe. Sitting high up towards the front of the bicycle and traveling very fast, the rider could be easily thrown over the front wheel if the bicycle hit a small stone. Fortunately, the “safety bicycle” was invented in 1884. The safety bicycle had equal-sized wheels and tires with air in them. And more improvements quickly followed. No doubt there will be further improvements in design and materials in the future.。
