The term "American Dream"was coined in 1931,155 years after the founding of the nation.This was after the emergence of civil society,after the judicial system had proven itself to be independent,and after the economy started to lift large numbers out of poverty. The auther,James Truslow Adams wrote,"It is not a dream of social order in which each man and each woman shall be able to attain to the fullest stature of which they are innately capable,and be recognized by others for what they are,regardless of the fortuitous circumtance of birth or position."

American Dream is the belief that everyone in the United States has the chance to achieve success and prosperity. For ordinary people, it means a happy family, and ideal job, and a nice house. For minorities and immigrants, it also includes freedom and equal rights.That is,people have to work through their own hard work,courage,determination to move towards prosperity,rather than rely on others.
