I was the captain back in December thanks to all the reading I did over winter break.Another neat thing is that every few months, a real live author comes to visit our school! They usually read us some excerpts from their books and tell us about what inspired them to become writers. We get to ask them lots of questions too. Just last month, we had a lady who wrote a whole series about a detective puppy. Too cute!Speaking of cute, they also bring thrillas, and unusual pets to show us sometimes when the books are about animals. This one time they brought in a bunch of bunnies and we all got to pet them! I could go on forever about all the fun reading-related activities we get to do.Overall, I just love the Book Explorers program so much. Reading never feels like some boring chore anymore. It's like this endless journey full of adventure, imagination, and excitement! Iget to learn about awesome new topics by escaping into the books. One week I'm reading about life as a kid in ancient Egypt, and the next I'm learning what it's like to be a fighter pilot or deep sea explorer. The possibilities are endless when you spend time reading and exploring through books.My parents always tell me how important reading is for learning, succeeding in school, and even building critical thinking skills. But thanks to Book Explorers, reading is just flat out fun for me now! I'm so lucky my school has a program that makes reading this grand adventure.I can't wait to see what amazing books and activities we'll explore next.
