一)、Words
1.serious adj.意为“严肃的,认真的,严重的”;seriously adv.意为“严肃地,认真地”。

2.cause vt.意为“导致;造成” n.意为“原因,理由”
如:She had to know the cause of anger.
*cause后可直接用造成的结果或者发生的事情作宾语。

如:The driver's carelessness caused the accident.
*cause后面可以接双宾语。

如:My sister caused my parents much unhappiness.
*cause后面接不定式的复合结构作宾语。

如:What caused your husband to change his mind?
注意事项:如果双宾语易位,可以用介词 to 或者for 来引出间接宾语。

3.wise adj意为“.明智的,充满智慧的” wisely adv.意为“.明智地,充满智慧地”4.separate v.意为“分开,隔开”。

把原来连在一起或靠近的“分隔开来”,常与from 搭配。

如:The Taiwan Straits separates Taiwan from Fujian.台湾海峡把台湾和福建隔开了。

Please separate the white shirt from the colored ones.请把白衬衫与其他颜色的衬衫分开。

5.harm n.意为“损伤,伤害,危害”,短语有:do harm to“对……有伤害”。

三)、Sentences
1.We can save energy by_turning_off_the_lights when we leave a room.
短语by doing sth意为“通过做某事”,表示做事的方式,对其提问要用how。

如:—How do you celebrate Christmas?—By giving each other presents. 2.Some of the clothes are sold in charity shops,some are given to the poor,and others_are_sent_to_factories_for_recycling.
some…,some…,and others…表示“一些……,一些……,还有一些……”。

如:Some students are singing,some are dancing,and others are setting up the stage. 3.For example,we are not allowed_to_cut_down trees.
*allow sb.to do sth.意为“允许某人做某事”,它的被动语态:sb.be allowed to do sth.“某人被允许做某事”。

如:Passengers are not allowed to talk to the driver.
*cut down意为“砍倒,砍伐”
如:He cut down the tree and cut it up for firewood.
4.In some cities,the air is_filled_with pollution.
短语be filled with意为“充满”,强调动作;be full of 也表示“充满”,强调状态。

如:The garden is filled with flowers.=The garden is full of flowers.
四)、Grammar
被动语态(Ⅱ)
一般将来时的被动语态结构有两种:
(1)will/shall be+动词的过去分词。

如:The 2016 Olympic Games will be held in Brazil.
(2)be going to+be+动词的过去分词。

如:Many activities are going to be organized in our school next week.
被动语态的基本用法:
(1)动作的执行者是泛指或不言自明时。

如:None of the books was taken away.
(2)在不知道动作的执行者是谁时。

如:The toy is designed for children.
(3)需要强调动作的承受者时。

如:My bike was repaired.
(4)出于委婉或礼貌而避谈动作的执行者时。

如:This problem was talked about just now.
(5)在被动语态的句子中,如果我们需要指出动作的执行者,可以由by引出。

如:Mr Wu is liked by all of his students.
注意:有些动词常用被动语态。

如:He was_born in Nanjing.This mobile phone was_made_in_China.。
