Her Majesty, the Queen, has asked me to form a new government and I have accepted. Before I talk about
that new government, let me say something about the one that has just passed.
Compared with a decade ago, this country is more open at home and more compassionate abroad, and that
is something we should all be grateful for. And on behalf of the whole country I'd like to pay tribute to the
outgoing Prime Minister for his long record of dedicated public service. In terms of the future, our country has a
hung parliament where no party has an overall majority; and we have some deep and pressing problems -- a huge

I stand before you today to address a matter of great importance the issue of Brexit.
The decision to leave the European Union has been one of the most significant and
contentious issues in recent British history. As the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom,
I feel it is my duty to explain the reasons behind this decision and to outline our vision for
the future.
First and foremost, it is important to acknowledge the deep divisions that exist within
our country regarding Brexit. I understand that there are strong feelings on both sides of
the debate, and I respect the views of those who passionately believe in the benefits of
remaining in the EU. However, it is crucial to remember that the British people have
spoken, and we must now work together to make the best of the situation.
