初中生思维活跃，容易接受新鲜事物，喜欢直观、形象的教学方式。
谈论周末活动与学生的生活经验相符，教材也提供了丰富、鲜活的语料与图片，以激发学生的生活体验与学习兴趣，让他们尽快进入文本情景中，准确的理解目标语言。
初二学生经过小学和初中的学习，已具有一定的英语综合能力，也积累了一定的英语词汇量，对空闲时间的活动已经知道如何正确表达。
因此在教学中我通过Brainstorming活动和发挥多媒体课件的辅助作用，注意适当的生生互动和人机互动，借助学生已有的相关知识，加强学生对新目标语言的强化。
同时，该年龄段的学生也很在乎他人的评价，所以在学习过程中我通过鼓励性评价和小组展示竞赛等措施，在教学活动中尽量让他们参与到活动中来，创造更多的机会，鼓励他们多说英语，树立学好英语的自信心。
学生听说能力水平层次分化较大，一小部分学生的词汇量不过关，口语表达较弱，我设置了两项不同难度的合作学习任务（Pairwork 和Groupwork），希望通过学生间的合作学习，降低他们的学习难度，使他们体验到成功的喜悦，从而提高学好英语的自信心。
