Emily would probably need a car or have to take public transportation like buses or trains, which can be a big hassle.There's also the risk of living in a bad neighborhood off campus where it might not feel very safe, especially at night.Dorms have security guards and systems to protect students. Plus, if Emily is living with her friends, they might end up throwing too many parties and not doing enough studying. I could see them getting distracted pretty easily without anyone around to enforce rules or keep them focused. That's probably my parents' biggest worry.Personally, I think Emily should live on campus for her first year to get the full college experience of dorm life. She can make a ton of new friends, never have to worry about cooking or cleaning up after herself, and be right in the middle of everything happening on campus. It's just such a convenient option for freshmen.After her first year, if she decides dorm life isn't for her anymore, then she could look into getting an apartment off campus with some friends she meets. Or if she gets a part-time job to help pay rent, that could make the costs much easier for my parents to handle too. But giving dorm life a try first just seems like the smartest way to start out in my opinion.Of course, I'm just a kid and still have a few more years before I'll be in college myself. I'm sure by that point my opinion could totally change! Emily will figure out what's best for her. But those are just some of the pros and cons I see about living oncampus versus living off campus for college students. It's definitely an interesting decision that so many students have to make! I'll be curious to see what choice my sister goes with in the end.。

Topic(题目)：
Students at universities often have a choice ofplaces to live. They may choose to live inuniversity dormitories, or they may choose tolive apartments in the community. Compare theadvantages of living in university housing withthe advantages of living in an apartment in thecommunity. Where would you prefer to live?Give reasons for your preference.
Model Essay(范文)：
I think it's better for college students to live on-campus their first two years, and thenmove into an apartment off-campus life, while juniors and seniors need the independence ofoff-campus life. Students' needs change over four years, so their housing should too.
Living on-campus makes it easier to get oriented to the way things are done. You get thewhole university experience. Plus, you interact more with other students. This includes not onlyyour roommates, but everyone in your dormitory. The older students in the dormitory can bea big help for the new students. Keeping up with studies your first year is hard enough. Youshouldn't have to worry about finding your way around and figuring out the universitybureaucracy.
Living in the dormitory also makes a student feel more a part of the universitycommunity. There are more opportunities for becoming involved in university activities andnetworking with students and university administration.
Living off-campus, however, is a definite advantage for older students. Finding anapartment, dealing with leases and the landlord's regulations, cooking meals, and figuring outbudgets are all good practice for life after graduation. This kind of independence helps olderstudents grow in adulthood.
Off-campus housing also gives students a better perspective on what's going on aroundthem. Campuses can be like little worlds of their own. There are few children or older people andeveryone is focused on education. Getting to know neighbors who aren't students is good forstudents coming from different places. It's a chance to find out what other people think andfeel.
I think a combination of two years on-campus and two years off-campus is a winningcombination for most students.。
