青岛市2019高考英语阅读理解、完形填空及阅读类训练(6)(答案及解析)阅读理解Words:322难度系数:★★建议用时:8分钟In the summer of 1978 an English farmer was driving his tractor through a field of wheat when he discovered that some of his wheat was lying flat on the ground. The flattened wheat formed a circle about six meters across.Around this circle were four smaller circles of flattened wheat. The five circles were in a formation like five dots.During the following years, farmers in England found the strange circles in their fields more and more often. The circles are called“crop circles”because they appear in the fields of grain—usually wheat or corn. The grain in the circles lies flat on the ground but is never broken;it continues to grow, and farmers can later harvest it.Farmers always discover the crop circles in the morning,so the circles probably form at night. They appear only in the months from May to September. At first, people thought that the circles were a hoax.Probably young people were making them as a joke,or farmers were making them to attract tourists. To prove that the circles were a hoax, people tried to make circles exactly like the ones that farmers had found. They couldn’t do it.They couldn’t enter a field of grain without leaving tracks, and they couldn’t flatten the grain without breaking it.Many people believe that beings from outer space are making the circles to communicate with us from far away and that the crop circles are messages from them.Scientists who have studied the crop circles suggested several possibilities. Some scientists say that a downward rush of wind leads to the formation of the circles—the same downward rush of air that s ometimes causes an airplane to crash.Other scientists say that forces within the earth cause the circles to appear. There is one problem with all these scientific explanations:crop circles often appear in formations, like the five-dot formation. It is hard to believe that any natural force could form those.1.In the summer of 1978,an English farmer discovered in his field that ________.A.some of his wheat had been damagedB.some of his wheat had fallen onto the groundC.his grain was growing up in circlesD.his grain was moved into several circles解析:选B。

青岛市2014高考英语阅读理解、完形填空及阅读类训练(1)(答案及解析)Words:343 难度系数:★★建议用时:8分钟Grownups know that people and objects are solid. At the movies, we know that if we reach out to touch Tom Cruise, all we will feel is air.But does a baby have this understanding? To see whether babies know objects are solid.Bower designed a method for projecting an optical illusion(视觉影像)of a hanging ball. His plan was to first to give babies a real ball, one they could be expected to show surprised in their faces and movements. All the 16 to 24weekold babies tested were surprised when they reached for the illusion and found that the ball was not there.Grownups also have a sense of object permanence. We know that if we put a box in a room and lock the door, the box will still be there when we come back. But does a baby realize that a ball that rolls under a chair does not disappear and go to nevernever land?Experiments done by Bower suggest that babies develop a sense of object permanence when they are about 18 weeks old.In his experiments, Bower used a toy train that went behind a screen. When 16weekold and 22weekold babies watched the toy train disappear behind the left side of the screen, they looked to the right, expecting it to reappear. If the experiment took the train off the table and lifted the screen, all the babies seemed surprised not to see the train. This seems to show that all the babies had a sense of object permanence. But the second part of the experiment showed that this was not really the case. The researcher substituted(替换) a ball for the train when it went behind the screen. The 22weekold babies seemed surprised and looked back to the left side for the train. But the 16weekold babies did not seem to notice the switch(更换).Thus, the 16weekold babies seemed to have a sense of “something permanence,” while the 22weekold babies had a sense of object permanence related to a particular object.【解题导语】本文是一篇科普短文,大意是通过实验研究儿童是否知道物体是固体的,是否具有物体持久性的感觉,研究表明,16周到24周的婴儿都知道物体是有形的固体,然而第一项研究表明只有18周以上的婴儿才对某个特定的物体的认识具有持久性。

青岛市2019高考英语阅读理解、完形填空及阅读类训练(11)(答案及解析)阅读理解Words:420难度系数:★★★建议用时:7分钟The discovery of an ancient giant panda skull has confirmed its bamboo diet dates back more than 2 million years and may have played a key part in its survival.A Chinese US research team reports its results today following studies on a fossil skull found in South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in 2019.The six fossils unearthed in Jinyin Cave are dated between 2.4 and 2 million years ago, according to the report in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences,an influential US journal.Jin Changzhu,of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)and lead author of the paper, said the smaller fossil skull indicates the giant pandas were about a third smaller than today’s pandas. Researchers knew the panda reached its maximum size about 500,000 years ago, when it peaked, and then gradually became smaller.Jin,a paleontologist(古生物学者)at the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology(古人类学)attached to the CAS,said the size variation was a basic rule of evolution.“A species tends to grow bigger when it reaches the peak of its population, but becomes smaller when numbers decline,”he said. The dental remains of the skull, which is the oldest giant panda skull ever found, are similar to today’s pandas’,indicating the type of teeth that could munch(用力嚼)mountains of bamboo.A panda can eat up to 40 kg of bamboo per day.Paleoanthropologist Russell Ciochon, the US co author at the University of Iowa, said the panda’s focus on bamboo could have helped it survive all these years.“Once an animal begins to rely on a common and stable food source, such as bamboo,it tends to evolve a larger body size,”he said.“As individuals of the evolving species grow bigger, they have a better chance not to be eaten by predators(肉食动物) due to their larger body size.”【解题导语】2019年在广西壮族自治区出土的一个大熊猫头骨化石证明,大熊猫在两百多万年前已经以竹子为主食,而且当时的大熊猫比如今的大熊猫小三分之一。

青岛市2014高考英语完形填空、阅读理解训练题(14)及答案 阅读理解 Motorists over the age of 75 face compulsory tests of their eyesight and ability to drive under proposals being considered by ministers. The biggest overhaul of motoring law in a generation could also lead to all drivers having to give assurances of their fitness to get behind the wheel every 10 years. Other revisions under consideration include issuing daylight driving licenses for motorists with night blindness, together with stricter checks on all drivers whose medical condition brought a threat to other road users. It is understood that the proposals will be part of a review of the law governing the medical fitness of drivers that will be announced publicly by the summer. The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency is dealing with a rising number of motorists who are concerned that they have conditions---from failing eyesight to epilepsy(癫痫)---that could affect their driving. In 2006, the DVLA dealt with 600,000 motorists whose physical ability to drive needed to be recertified(重新认证), a 20 per cent rise on the previous year. With an ageing population, the biggest challenge is dealing with the rising number of elderly motorists.By 2021, there will be an estimated three million drivers over the age of 70 on Britain’s roads. Drivers must renew their licenses at the age of 70 and every three years thereafter. The applicant is legally required to tell the DVLA of any conditions that could weaken their ability behind the wheel. Ministers have ruled out a compulsory maximum age for driving but will instead rely on tightening up the checks on motorists over the age of 75.The most likely option would be tests to ensure motorists were fit to drive. They would include an eyesight test and a cognitive(认知) test that would prove a driver’s ability to react to road signs, driving conditions, pedestrians and vehicles. However, checks are likely to be tightened at all ages. The strictest controls are expected to be imposed(强制) on motorists of any age who have had a heart attack or stroke. They could have to produce a doctor’s approval to be allowed to drive again.Anyone making a false declaration would be guilty of a criminal offence. 68.Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage? A.The new motoring law will come into effect by the summer. B.Drivers over the age of 75 must renew their licenses every three years. C.Doctors will decide whether one can get their driving licenses. D.Drivers at all ages will be expected to provide their medical condition. 69.What is the biggest challenge to the traffic safety in Britain according to the writer? A.Ageing population. B.Increasing number of cars. C.Increasing number of elderly motorists. D.Driving conditions. 70.The underlined word “overhaul” in Paragraph 2 means _______. A.change B.problem C.concern D.challenge 71.Which of the following statements is WRONG according to the passage? A.There will be more and more aged drivers in Britain. B.Anyone can get a driving license as long as he/she is in good health. C.Health tends to become worse as one gets old. D.It will be guilty to make a false declaration.
阅读理解 Bad teeth can be painful — and worse. They can even be deadly. Infections (感染)of the gums (牙龈)and the teeth can cause bacteria (细菌)to go into the blood system. Those bacteria can increase the chance of a heart attack and worsen the effects of other diseases. And adults are not the only ones at risk. For example, in 2007, doctors in the Washington area said a boy died when a tooth infection spread to his brain. They said it might have been prevented had he received the dental care (牙齿 保健)he needed. He was twelve years old. Experts at the National Institutes of Health say good dental care starts at birth. Breast milk, they say, is the best food for the healthy development of teeth. Breast milk can help slow the growth of bacteria and acid production in the mouth. But dentists say a baby's gums and early teeth should be cleaned after each feeding. Use a cloth with a little warm water. Do the same if a baby is fed with a bottle. Experts say if you decide to put your baby to sleep with a bottle, only give the child water. When baby teeth begin to appear, you can clean them with a wet toothbrush. Dentists say it is important to find soft toothbrushes made especially for babies and to use them very gently. The use of fluoride (氟化物)to protect teeth is common in many parts of the world. For example, it is often added to drinking water supplies. The fluoride mixes with enamel (法琅质), the hard surface on teeth, to help prevent holes from forming. 68. Which of the following can be used as the title of the passage? A. Concerns for Healthy Teeth of the Young
