1.清明节踏青英语作⽂ Today is Sunday. It rained a few drops in the morning, but at more than nine o'clock, the sky began to clear up, the spring breeze blew, and the warm sunshine began to shine on the earth, making people feel warm and refreshing. Today is really a good day to go outdoors. At my suggestion, my parents also put down the trivial things at hand and we set out outside the city together. After leaving the noisy county seat and coming to the fields, I suddenly felt that the air was much fresher. At your feet are vast green wheat fields. Since early spring, the weather has been sunny continuously, and the wheat seedlings have swept away the depression of the severe winter. It is a scene of prosperity. A piece of rape next to it has also pulled out new moss. When you look closer, the new vegetable moss is like a green jade stick carved with emerald. The willow branches at the head of the village in the distance were also soft by the spring wind. The green silk tapestry danced in the breeze, as if welcoming our whole family to the village. At this time, the birds in the woods not far away also tossed their mellow singing voice and began to attract friends and companions, adding a lot of vitality to early spring. My family walked and played in the fields like this. My parents were intoxicated by the spring scenery. Only I jumped and rolled on the ground. Inadvertently, we came to a small river. The grass on the riverbank looked withered and yellow, but at the grass root, some goose yellow buds peeped out secretly, dotted. The ice in the river has already melted, and the river begins to become clear. In the shallow part, you can see the sediment at the bottom of the river at a glance. The water and grass also become much softer. They swing left and right with the running water, and many small fish play in it. Everything in spring seems so vibrant. I love this beautiful spring!2.清明节踏青英语作⽂ Qingming Festival is coming. Many people are busy with sacrificial activities. Fortunately, the old people in my family are very healthy, so I can enjoy the beautiful spring and have a warm hug with nature. Qingming Festival is not only a day for mourning and mourning, but also a good day for outing. Because its arrival symbolizes the real arrival of spring! On the way to the countryside, I saw many peach and pear trees, all of which were dressed for spring. A piece of powder and a piece of white. Looking at it, it's a picture of more than ten thousand low branches! It is not difficult to imagine the happy scene of peach and plum trees in autumn! Then I saw the green fields, endless, like a huge emerald. My eyes are very comfortable and my mood is very comfortable. I really want to live here every day. When I open my eyes, a burst of fragrance pours into my nose! After seeing the beautiful scenery in spring, we began a happy treasure hunt - digging wild vegetables. At first, I couldn't help worrying. Where can I find wild vegetables? What kind of wild vegetables can you eat? But I don't have to worry about the actual situation. There are so many wild vegetables everywhere that even my mother is not famous. It's just that I came late. I have to pick up some tender ones to dig. Soon filled a plastic bag. But the first time I dug wild vegetables, I became more and more addicted. I dug and asked, "what kind of dish is this? Can I eat it?" Digging and shouting, "there are more here, come on!" My shouting caused everyone around to laugh. No way, who called me grandma Liu's first visit to the Grand View Garden! In everyone's urging and pulling, I stopped digging wild vegetables and repeatedly told my mother to cook them for me when I went back! What a knowledgeable Festival, what a happy festival!3.清明节踏青英语作⽂ Qingming Festival is one of our traditional Chinese festivals. On that day, we will go to martyrs' cemeteries in various places to offer sacrifices to heroes who died for our peace and, of course, to our dead relatives. However, our family will go to the "Mother River" for an outing, because this festival is a good time for everything to recover and the air to be fresh! On the way to the outing, I can't help but see some people who offer sacrifices to their dead relatives. Then I look at the emerald green wickers fluttering in the wind, and the yellow rape flowers dancing gracefully in the wind. I can't help but think of the poem "flowers fly everywhere in the Spring City, and the cold food east wind resists the willows". In the laughter and laughter along the way, we finally arrived at the "Mother River". After a big meal in the nearby hotel (on the boat), we went ashore to the Yellow River. I was also a little excited because I saw all our Chinese "mothers", which raised our Chinese people! But we didn't come empty handed. I also invented a game. It's quite dangerous, but it's fun. We first step on the bank near the Yellow River slowly with small steps, and then it will become softer and softer, and sometimes blisters will appear. At that time, I was very scared and nervous, and always felt that I was going to fall down, because the soft ground always feltthat a big hole would fall out and sink me in. The principle is like this: the Yellow River water has soaked the land on the shore. Although it looks solid, it is actually very dangerous. My mother said that when she was a child, someone played on it, and someone fell into the water and drowned, so don't play with the timid! In this outing, I ate good things, played good things and saw good things. It's great! Come and play if you don't believe it!4.清明节踏青英语作⽂ Qingming Festival is coming again. One family goes outing in the suburbs. Early in the morning, the car arrived and drove along the winding path in the countryside. After a while, it stopped by the clear river. As soon as we got out of the car, we ran to the grass quickly. The grass grows so high, neat and green. I roll on it with the grass under me. It's thick and soft. It's very comfortable to sleep on the carpet. There are rows of trees along the river. When you look closely, the green buds take off their brown coat and lie on the branches. From a distance, the willow bud looks like a layer of yarn on the willow tree. The long wicker fluttered on the river, waving waves of fine lines, frightening the little fish straight to the water. Beside the river is a field of crops. There are green wheat seedlings in the field. When the breeze blows, there are dark green wheat waves. I the scene of wheat harvest. There is also a rape field in the middle of the wheat field. Rape grows high vegetable moss. Flowers appear on the vegetable moss and bloom, attracting a group of bees and butterflies to dance among the flowers. The flowers and bones split, revealing a touch of yellow, and eager to give a little beauty for spring. Behind the field is a neat row of villages. Beside the village, I saw a group of children [source] chasing happily. I was absorbed in the sight and smelled a pungent fragrance. Around me, there were peach trees behind the farmers' houses, with pink peach blossoms on the trees. The fragrance floated with the wind. I was pleasantly surprised. The peach blossoms in the garden smelled the fragrance of the garden and couldn't help being intoxicated in the brilliant sea of flowers Then, a group of children came to invite me to play with them. I happily joined in, chasing and playing on the path between the fields... Enjoy the beautiful spring in the bright sunshine.5.清明节踏青英语作⽂ Today is Tomb Sweeping Day. The ancients said: it rains one after another during the Qingming Festival. It was also cloudy. My family went to Cihu for an outing. As we walked along the road, we saw that the strong grass broke through the earth with its tenacious perseverance. It was not willing to be outdone to welcome the spring. It changed into green clothes. There were flowers in the green grass, red, green and yellow... We walked a little further and came to a field. There was a pleasant golden yellow everywhere in front of us, and the rape flowers stood in high spirits, Pearl like dewdrops slide around on the golden flowers... By the side of Cihu Lake, willow braids are decorated with green leaves and buds, which is really more beautiful than any girl's headdress. After passing Cihu cemetery, we couldn't help walking in. Looking at the graves of martyrs, wreaths and pure white flowers, my heart can't help the waves. I thought a lot: our happy and perfect life today was created for us by the revolutionary martyrs, and it was also exchanged with their blood. Therefore, an idea came into my mind: we should inherit the martyrs' will, study hard and strive to become the pillars of building the country. After that, we went to huangjia'ao. There were a large number of people on the mountain. Everyone's faces were full of nostalgia. Looking at this scene, I felt some regret in my heart. I hope my elders will live a long life and be in good health. This Qingming Festival outing gave me more feelings and made me understand the soft side of nature again. My harvest is so great!6.清明节踏青英语作⽂ Qingming Festival is one of China's traditional festivals. On this day, we have to do many things, such as tomb sweeping, outing and so on. Spring is coming, and bud green is slowly integrated into this matter. But I don't know that today's air has already solidified. I found that people who came for an outing looked sad, as if they had a deep heart, but this did not hinder the development of life. When the east wind blows, pears, apricots and peaches are in bloom. They are accompanied by the grass with strong vitality. A few small flowers are dotted on the grass, as if ashamed and afraid to come out. It's very lovely. The ice in the river has long melted, and many fish have built their homes there. Several old willows along the river have long hair like little girls. From time to time, several magpies fall on the branches and sing songs. 五年级关于清明节踏青的英语小作文全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1Qingming Festival: A Time for Outdoor FunEvery year as spring arrives, I look forward to one of my favorite holidays - Qingming Festival! This special occasion always falls sometime in early April. Not only does it give me a nice break from school, but it's a time when my whole family gets together to enjoy the warm weather and beautiful nature.Qingming Festival is also called Tomb Sweeping Day. It's an ancient Chinese tradition where people visit the graves of their ancestors to clean the areas and make offerings. My grandparents take this part very seriously. Early in the morning on Qingming Festival, we all head to the cemetery together. My brother and I help grandma and grandpa by sweeping away leaves and planting fresh flowers and green bushes on the grave sites. We burn incense and leave out dishes of fruit as offerings to honor our ancestors. After we finish at the cemetery, the real fun begins - it's time for outdoor activities and playing in the fresh spring air! Myfavorite part of Qingming Festival is going on a family outing to one of the beautiful parks or gardens in our city. I really enjoy walking along the winding paths, looking at all the spring blossoms, and breathing in the floral scents. It's such a nice break from sitting inside all day at school. This year for Qingming Festival, we went to the big lake park on the north side of the city. My dad packed a huge picnic lunch for all of us with all kinds of delicious foods. We found the perfect spot under a blossoming cherry tree to set out our big blanket. As we ate our lunch, we watched butterflies and bees flitting around the colorful spring flowers. The warm sun felt so nice on my face after being cooped up indoors all winter. After lunch, I had a blast flying kites with my cousins. We ran around trying to get our kites up as high as we could into the clear blue sky. My aunt brought small handmade kites that we could decorate ourselves with markers and stickers. I drew big smiley faces and dragons on mine. Every now and then a gust of wind would make our kites dip and sway in the air. When that happened, we'd all cheer and laugh. I felt so free and happy watching my kite dance around up there. When we got tired of kites, it was time for another Qingming Festival tradition - tug-of-war! The adults split up into two teams, separating the men from the women. My dad, uncles, brother, and I were on one side, while my mom, aunts, cousins, and grandparents were on the other. A long thick rope with a red handkerchief tied in the middle marked the line we couldn't cross. On the count of three, we all started pulling with all our might. It was tough - the women's side had more people so they were stronger! Eventually though, the men's side won by slowly dragging the red marker over to our side. We shouted and cheered in victory, while the women's team jokingly called us cheaters. As the sun started to go down, we cleaned up our picnic area and prepared for one last activity before going home - kicking a shuttlecock. Have you ever played this game before? It's kind of like batting a small weighted ball made of dried plant fibers back and forth in the air without using your hands. My uncle is the reigning family champion at this game, so he showed us all the proper technique of kicking the shuttlecock straight up and trying to keep it in the air as long as possible before it hits the ground. My cousin Mei was shockingly good at it for her age - she kept that little thing up for nearly 5 minutes! I kept missing it with my foot, but it was still really fun to try.By the time we got back home, I was absolutely exhausted from the long day spent outside in the beautiful spring weather. Qingming Festival is definitely one of my favorite times of year. It's a special chance for my whole extended family to come together, honor our ancestors, enjoy nature's beauty, and play classic outdoor activities. I made so many wonderful memories that day that I'll never forget. I can't wait for next year's Qingming celebration!篇2Qingming Festival Fun!Qingming Festival is one of my favorite holidays! It comes in early April when the weather is getting warmer and everything is starting to turn green again after the long winter. Qingming means "clear and bright" and it's a time to spend outside enjoying the beautiful spring weather. This year, my family and I went on a little outing during the Qingming Festival holiday. We drove out to the countryside to a park篇3Qingming Festival - A Day of Outdoor AdventuresQingming Festival is one of my favorite holidays! It's a time when families come together to honor their ancestors by visiting their gravesites and making offerings. But it's also an opportunity for tons of fun outdoor activities with my parents, grandparents, and cousins. Let me tell you all about our Qingming celebration this year! The festivities started bright and early when my grandparents arrived at our house before sunrise. Grandma had prepared a big basket full of fresh fruit, pastries, and other tasty food offerings for our ancestors' graves. We loaded everything into the trunk of Dad's car and hit the road. Our first stop was the cemetery on the edge of town where many of our relatives are buried. It was neat seeing all the other families tending to the gravestones and leaving offerings of food, flowers, and incense. Dad and Grandpa used brushes to clean off the gravestone markings while Mom and Grandma arranged the fruit and baked goods nearby.Once we finished at the cemetery, it was time for the real fun - a family outing in nature! We drove up into the nearby mountains to spend the day hiking, picnicking, and playing outdoor games. The fresh spring air smelled so good and greenbuds were just starting to appear on the trees. I loved listening to the birds chirping cheerfully in the forest. For our hike, we trekked along a winding path beside a babbling stream. I spotted several small critters scampering about, including a chipmunk stuffing its cheeks with seeds and a frog resting on a rock in the creek. At one point, the trail opened up to a sun-drenched meadow carpeted with wildflowers. We stopped there to fly kites and watch the butterflies dancing in the gentle breeze. After hiking for a while, we found the perfect scenic spot to spread out our picnic blanket. Grandma's wicker basket was stuffed with all sorts of delicious homemade dishes - savory dumplings, flaky pastries, sweet bean buns, and more. We dug in hungrily as Grandpa told stories about his childhood Qingming adventures exploring the same mountains. With our bellies full, we then jumped into a rollicking game of jianzi, which is kind of like kickball except you use a weighted shuttlecock instead of a ball. We split into two teams for an epic showdown - grandparents vs grandkids. Despite Grandpa's trash talking, the grandkids' team (led by my lightning kicks) easily demolished the opposition! We celebrated our victory with slices of Grandma's sweet egg tarts. As the afternoon wore on, we found a shady grove and Dad taught us the ancient game of diablo. It involves spinning a plastic spool on a string attached to two hand sticks. Diablo originated in China centuries ago but has been around the world and back! Mom was surprisingly the diablo master of our family.Eventually we had to start packing up as dusk approached. We made one last stop at a tranquil meditation garden to burn sticks of incense and leave some final offerings for our ancestors.I felt fortunate to share this day reconnecting with my roots and enjoying the natural world together as a family. On the drive back home, we were all a bit drowsy from the fresh air and exercise. Grandma remarked that she couldn't remember a more perfect Qingming Festival. I had to agree - between honoring our ancestors, exploring the great outdoors, and spending quality time with my fun-loving relatives, it was an unforgettable day jam-packed with meaningful activities and laughter. I'm already looking forward to next year's Qingming celebration!篇4Qingming Festival OutingQingming Festival is one of my favorite holidays! It's a special time when we can go outdoors and enjoy the beautiful spring weather after being cooped up inside all winter. This year, my family and I went on a fun outing to celebrate the festival. On the morning of Qingming, I woke up bright and early, feeling so excited. My mom had made my favorite jianbing (a kind of crepe) for breakfast. As I ate, I could hardly sit still thinking about our big plans for the day. Finally, it was time to get ready to go!We loaded up the car with all our supplies - a cooler full of drinks and snacks, blankets to sit on, frisbees and balls to play with, and more. My little brother Tommy and I could barely contain our energy as we jumped into the backseat. "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" we kept asking impatiently as Dad drove us out of the city. After what felt like forever, we finally arrived at a huge, beautiful park surrounded by trees and greenery. Spring flowers were blooming everywhere and the air smelled so fresh and clean. There were lots of other families scattered around having picnics and flying kites. Tommy and I tumbled out of the car, eager to start exploring.First, we found the perfect grassy spot to set up our picnic blankets. We claimed our territory and Mom unpacked all the delicious food - dumplings, spring rolls, fruit, and cookies. My mouth was watering just looking at it all! But before we could eat, Dad said we had to earn our lunch first by being active. That was just fine by me! Tommy and I took off running around the wide open fields, breathing in the fresh spring air. We played endless games of tag and frisbee, working up a huge appetite. After we tired ourselves out, we rejoined Mom and Dad on the blankets and dug into the amazing spread of food. Everything tasted so good after all that running around. With our bellies full, we were ready for the next adventure - kite flying! Dad had brought a couple simple kites and helped Tommy and I get them up in the air. It was tricky at first, but once we got the hang of it, we spent a long time running around trying to keep them airborne. One time my kite flew up so high I thought it might get carried away by the wind!As the sun started to sink lower in the sky, we knew our Qingming outing was coming to an end. We took one last stroll around the park, watching other families also soaking up the beautiful day. I felt a little sad that it was almost over, but also grateful we could experience such a fun tradition. On the drive home, I gazed out the window at the colorful streaks of the sunset. "That was the best Qingming ever," I said sleepily, already looking forward to next year's celebration. Spending quality time with my family while enjoying the beauty of nature is what this festival is all about. When we arrived back home, we were all a bit sunburned but full of happy memories from the day. As I snuggled into bed that night, I remembered what my teacher had told us about the meaning of Qingming - to appreciate life and reconnect with family. I felt like we had definitely accomplished both of those things through our wonderful outing. I can't wait to make more special memories like these when Qingming comes around again next year!篇5Qingming Festival OutingQingming Festival is one of my favorite times of the year! The weather is finally getting warm after a long, cold winter. The trees start budding with fresh green leaves and colorful flowers start blooming everywhere. It's the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the arrival of spring. This year for Qingming Festival, my whole family went on a trip to Zhongshan Park for a fun outing called "taqing" or "going on a spring outing." We packed a big picnic basket full of delicious food like dumplings, spring rolls, fruit, and my mom's famous egg tarts. We also brought a kite, frisbee, and badminton set to play games in the park. When we arrived at Zhongshan Park, I was amazed by all the beautiful cherry blossom trees! The whole park was covered in a blanket of pale pink petals that had fallen to the ground. The trees were absolutely stunning with their bright pink blooms. I had never seen anything like it before! We found the perfect spot to lay out our picnic blanket under one of the cherry blossom trees. After eating our tasty picnic lunch, my dad suggested we walk around the park's lake and gardens. We strolled along the winding paths, admiring all the flowering trees and plants. I saw peonies, azaleas, tulips, and so many other spring blooms in every color of the rainbow. The whole park smelled heavenly from all the fragrant flowers. We eventually made our way to the koi fish pond, where hundreds of big, colorful koi were swimming around. My little brother got a big kick out of watching the fish swim up and try tocatch the breadcrumbs he tossed into the water. I thought the koi looked like underwater dragons gliding through the pond. When we returned to our picnic spot, my brother and I begged my dad to get out the badminton set so we could play. He agreed and we had a blast rallying the birdie back and forth. Even though I'm not very good, it was just fun to run around outside in the beautiful park on such a gorgeous spring day. After we all got tired from running around playing badminton, my mom suggested we fly the kite. We untangled the line as my dad ran around the field trying to catch the wind and launch the kite up into the air. It took a few tries, but finally the kite caught an airstream and started soaring up and up into the bright blue sky. My dad let me take over the kite line, running around and steering the colorful kite higher and higher. What an amazing feeling! As the day started coming to an end, we cleaned up our picnic area and took one last stroll around the lake to see the park at dusk. Everything looked so peaceful and tranquil as the sun started going down, giving the cherry blossoms a warm pinkish glow. I felt so relaxed and happy after our wonderful outdoorsy Qingming Festival celebration. We headed home tired but with our hearts full after our amazing taqing outing at Zhongshan Park. Qingming is the perfect holiday to get outside and welcome the arrival of spring after being stuck inside all winter long. I made so many special memories with my family, from our yummy picnic to flying a kite to seeing all the incredible blossoms and greenery everywhere. I'm already counting down the days until next year's Qingming Festival so I can go on another spring adventure! Spending time outside in nature with my family was the absolute best way to celebrate the season of renewal.篇6A Qingming Festival Spring OutingQingming Festival is one of my favorite times of the year! The weather is perfect - not too hot and not too cold. The winter chill is gone and the trees and flowers are starting to bloom with vibrant colors. School is still in session, but we get a nice long holiday to spend time with family. And of course, it's the traditional time for spring outings! My family always goes on a little trip to enjoy the beautiful spring scenery. Let me tell you about our Qingming outing this year.We decided to go hiking up one of the small mountains on the outskirts of our city. My dad loves hiking, and he's been trying to get me and my little brother into it too. I'm not as crazy about it as he is, but I do enjoy being out in nature. My mom packed us a delicious picnic lunch with all my favorite foods. We had dumplings, spring rolls, roasted chicken, and she even made some strawberry mochi for dessert! My mouth waters just thinking about it.The drive to the trailhead took about an hour. Once we got there, the parking lot was pretty full already with other families out for a spring outing. We pulled on our hiking shoes, broke out the walking sticks, strapped on our backpacks with the food and waters, and set off up the trail. The beginning wasn't too bad, but I definitely started getting tired after the first big uphill stretch. "Are we there yet?" I may have asked a few too many times. But my dad just laughed and said "Nope, we're just getting started!"As we climbed higher, the views got better and better. We could see out over the whole city and countryside. The trees were just starting to get their pale green leaves back, and the hills in the distance had a vibrant emerald hue. I could smell the wildflowers blooming along the path. My mom pointed out all the different kinds to us as we passed them by.About halfway up, we stopped at a pretty little stream for a break and snack. I gulped down some nice cold water as my dad snapped some pictures of the little waterfall. My brother skipped rocks while my mom laid out the food on a big flat rock. Those dumplings tasted so good after our strenuous hike up! We sat there enjoying the peaceful sounds of the stream babbling and birds chirping in the trees. No honking cars or loud city noises at all. After refueling, it was back on the trail switchbacking up the mountain. This was definitely the hardest part! My legs were getting tired and the uphill really started to get steep. A few times I almost slipped on some loose dirt and gravel on the path. Thank goodness for those hiking sticks! My dad let me lean on his arm for some particularly tough sections. I felt kind of guilty that he had to help me so much, but he didn't seem to mind at all. "Building strength and endurance is what it's all about!" he'd say with a smile. Easy for him to say - I'm pretty sure he was a mountain goat in another life! Finally, sweaty and out of breath, we made it to the peak! What an amazing view in all directions. We could see farms and villages dotting the countryside, ribbons of highways branching out, and our city's skyline rising up in the distance. It felt like wewere on top of the world up there. The breeze felt so good on my warm face. I sat down on a big rock to catch my breath and looked around in awe at the beauty of spring. Seeing the fresh green buds on the trees, the vibrant wildflowers, and the puffy white clouds floating by was worth every step of that tough hike. After soaking it all in, we unpacked the rest of the food for a well-deserved picnic lunch at the summit. Mom had even included some plastic plates and cups so it would feel more "picnic-y." We dug into the tasty chicken, spring rolls, and those amazing strawberry mochi. I don't think anything has ever tasted so delicious as that meal at the top! We stayed up there for about an hour, taking in the views, exploring a bit, and resting our tired muscles. Finally it was time to head back down the mountain. I was a little nervous about that at first, since going down can actually be harder than up. My legs were already wobbly from the uphill climb. But my dad had done this hike tons of times, so he gave us tips on how to plant our feet and not go too fast. I did take one small tumble at one point, getting a grass stain on my favorite hiking shirt. But it was worth it for the fun of sort of butt-skiing down a gravelly stretch! As we descended back through the trees and flowers, I reflected on what a wonderful Qingming Festival outing it had been. Getting outdoors in the beautiful spring air, exercising our bodies, seeing incredible natural scenery, and making special memories together as a family - it really doesn't get any better than that. I feel so lucky we have this tradition and that my parents make it a priority. It hasn't always been easy keeping up on the tough parts of the hike, but I'm proud of myself for persevering. And now I have bragging rights that I conquered that mountain!Once we finally made it back down to the trailhead, we all piled back into the car. My brother and I chugged down waters and recapped our favorite parts. I have to admit, as exhausted as I was, I felt sad for the outing to be over. Luckily, there's always next year and many more spring adventures ahead! I'll be working on building up my hiking endurance so I can impress my dad then. But for now, I'm content to be sweaty, a little sore, and full of happy memories from this year's amazing Qingming spring outing.。

Qing Ming Jiein Ancient Times
An old man takes one last look before leaving the City Cemetery at Biandanshan of Wuhan, Central China's Hubei Province.
In ancient times, people celebrated Qing Ming Jie with dancing, singing, picnics, and kite flying. Colored boiled eggs would be broken to symbolize the opening of life. In the capital, the Emperor would plant trees on the palace grounds to celebrate the renewing nature of spring. In the villages, young men and women would court each other.
The Tomb Sweeping Day as Celebrated Today
With the passing of time, this celebration of life became a day to the honor past ancestors. Following folk religion, the Chinese believed that the spirits of deceased ancestors looked after the family. Sacrifices of food and spirit money could keep them happy, and the family would prosper through good harvests and more children.
Today, Chinese visit their family graves to tend to any underbrush that has grown. Weeds are pulled, and dirt swept away, and the family will set out offerings of food and spirit money. Unlike the sacrifices at a family's home altar, the offerings at the tomb usually consist of dry, bland food. One theory is that since any
number of ghosts rome around a grave area, the less appealing food will be consumed by the ancestors, and not be plundered by strangers.
Honoring Ancestors
Honoring ancestors begins with proper positioning of a gravesite and coffin. Experts in feng shui, or geomancy, determine the quality of land by the surrounding aspects of streams, rivers, trees, hills, and so forth. An area that faces south, with groves of pine trees creates the best flow of cosmic energy required to keep ancestors happy. Unfortunately, nowadays, with China's burgeoning population, public cemetaries have quickly surplanted private gravesites. Family elders will visit the gravesite at least once a year to tend to the tombs.
While bland food is placed by the tombs on Qing Ming Jie, the Chinese regularly provide scrumptious offerings to their ancestors at altar tables in their homes. The food usually consists of chicken, eggs, or other dishes a deceased ancestor was fond of. Accompanied by rice, the dishes and eating utensils are carefully arranged so as to bring good luck. Sometimes, a family will put burning incense with the offering so as to expedite the transfer of nutritious elements to the ancestors. In some parts of China, the food is then eaten by the entire family.
Kites
Besides the traditions of honoring the dead, people also often fly kits on Tomb Sweeping Day. Kites can come in all kinds of shapes, sizes, and colors. Designs could include frogs, dragonflies, butterflies, crabs, bats, and storks.。
