A Friend in Need
Suraj was a student in class 5. He was a studious as well as a naught boy. After science class, he was cracking jokes with friends. As soon as his math teacher arrived to the class, he moved back to his place. The class started and the teacher was asking some questions to the students.
And it happened. Suraj wet his pants! He felt very ashamed. He imagined how his classmates would think about him. His wet pants would be the hot topic of the school! His friends would talk about the incident for years. The girls in the class would never look at him as his friend. The boys and girls would never speak with him. He would become the jo ker for everyone in the class. Suraj’s imagination was going so wild.
The math teacher noticed a kind of uneasiness in Suraj. She was watching him for 10 minutes and saw him in some kind of trouble. Suraj noticed that the teacher watching him and tried to act normal.
He felt that his heart would stop pumping very soon. He silently pleaded to god, ‘Dear god, you have to help me. In 5 or 10 minutes, I will be dead. I really need some help from you. Please come as my savior’.
The teacher again saw that Suraj was uneasy and she looked at him. He smiled at her. Kiran, Suraj’s classmate made a request to let him drink some water. Suddently, Kiran from the back bench took his water bottle and started to move out of the classroom. As he cross Suraj’s desk, he accide ntally dropped the water bottle. The cap opened and all water fell on Suraj.
It shocked everyone and teacher rushed to help Suraj. He asked a student to get a towel from staff room.
His friends cleaned the desk and helped him. The teacher asked another student to bring a gym pant for him to wear until his pants get dry. The act of ridicule suddenly became sympathetic. When Kiran tried to help him, he was cornered. The teacher scolded him for being so careless.
And of course, Suraj was so relieved. He looked at Kiran, who stood silently in a corner.
After school, Suraj approached Kiran and thanked him with all his heart. Kiran smiled and said, ‘Hey I know buddy! Because I also experienced the same few months before. I wet my pants!’。

The Crafty Crane and the Craftier CrabA heron lived near a big lake, which was full of fishes and other water creatures.The heron had grown so old, that he could not catch fishes from the lake anymore.He became lean and weak with every passing day due to lack of food. Unable to bear the hunger anymore, he hit upon a plan.As planned, he sat at the edge of the lake for everybody to see, and began crying.On seeing this, a crab took pity on him and went near, "Uncle, What is the matter? Why are you crying instead to catching fishes?"Continuing to pretend, the heron replied, "My child, I would not touch any fish anymore. I have decided to renounce all worldly matters, and vowed to undertake a fast unto death".The crab asked, "If you have indeed renounced worldly matters, why is it thatyou cry?"The heron explained, "My child, I have been in this lake from my birth. I have grown here. And it now that I have grown so old that I hear that this lake will dry up as there will be no rains for the next twelve years".The crab was surprised to hear this, "Uncle, please tell me if it is true. Please tell me where you have heard such thing."The heron replied, "I have heard the news from a wise astrologer that there will be no rains for the next twelve years. You see, there is already not much water in the lake. And very soon, due to lack of rains, the lake will dry up completely very soon."The crab was taken aback by the news of what is to befall on them, and went to tell this to the other water creatures. On hearing this piece of news, everybody started to panic.They believed the heron, as he was not trying to catch any fish at all. So, they met the heron to seek advice, "Please guide us to save us from this disaster"The heron said, "There is indeed a lake not far from here. It is full of water, and beautifully covered with lotus flowers. There is so much water in the lake, that it would not dry even if it did not rain for twenty four years. I can take you there, if you can ride on my back."He had already gained their confidence. So, they gathered around him and requested to carry them one at a time to the other lake and save them.The wicked heron had succeeded in his plan. Every day, he would carry one of them on his back pretending to take them to the other lake.After flying a little away from the lake, he would smash them against a rock and eat them up. He would then return after some time to the lake and relate false messages how they are happy in the other lake.This happened for many days, when the crab said to the heron, "Uncle, you take others to the lake but it is me who is your first friend. Please take me to the other lake to save my life."The heron was happy to hear this. He thought to himself, "Having a fish everyday has become monotonous. It is good that I will get to eat a crab today, for a change."Having thus decided, the heron started carrying the crab to the same rock. The crab looked down from above and saw the heap of bones and skeletons. At once, the crab understood what the heron was up to.He remained calm, and said to the heron, "Uncle, the lake seems far and I am quite heavy. You must be getting tired, let us stop for some rest".The heron was confident that there was no way the crab can escape from him inthe sky. The heron replied, "There is no lake for real. This trip is for my own meal. As I do every day, I will smash you against a rock and make a meal out of you."When the heron confessed the truth, the crab got hold of the heron's neck with its strong claws, and strangled him to death.The crab laughed at himself that he had saved himself and the other water creatures from the trick played by the heron. He dragged the heron back to the lake.The other water creatures in the lake were surprised to see him back. They became curious, and asked all sort of questions.The crab laughed and replied, "We were being made fools! The heron was an imposter and what he told about the lake drying up was all false. He was taking one of us every day for his meal in a rock not far from here."He proudly said, "I understood what he was up to, and have killed the trickster. There is no need to worry, for we are safe in this lake. It is not going to dry up at all."The wise indeed say:When things go wrong, use your wit to overcome the situation.。

The maze of timeSometimes there are some tales in life which are always a pleasure to remember. When we think of the tragic moment spent in the past then it seems that the moment was so horrible and was happy to think that now that moment will not come back again.But if the talk is of a pleasant moment of the past, then we smile through it, and when we rush off the window of the memories, then the eyes are moist with a light smile and then, a chill wave run through our spine which makes us realize that the moments has passed. A memory chains past, present and future. Through our memories we live our past in present and hope to continue it in future but some memories are left behind and failed to enter the future.My life is perfect. I have loving parents, caring siblings and supportive friends. I’m happy in my small world but someone asked me to give some place in my world. I was more than happy to share my world with him. As time passed, he conquered my world with his love, care and affection. It wasn’t m y world anymore but ours. I lived the best moments with him, he knew everything about me. No one can b perfect but for me he was almost perfect. His innocent face, soft eyes, welcoming smile and gentle looks forced me to give up my world and he made it more beautiful than before. His small surprises, long walks, soothing words made me feel like i had all the happiness of the world. I had tears in my eyes at many occasions but i felt happy to shed them as I didn’t have any way to express myself, my tears spo ke for me. They contained all the beautiful memories that showed i’m loved, cared and im important for many people especially for the person whom i loved the most.Five years has passed but i feel we just met yesterday but the memories we have denied our m eeting. Today is going to be the best part of my life, I’ll tie a knot to be forever with him. This ceremony would prove that i was made and meant to look for you and becomes yours forever but, I’m still waiting for him why he is not showing up? Today is my wedding, the environment looks cold my own happiness was killing me inside. I’m decorated in my precious jewels and finest clothes to present myself the best in front of him, but why haven’t he reached yet? Moments passed, the warmth of excitement is turning into cold like the faces around me. Oh! Do they have tears in their eyes? It should be me with tears but i don’t feel them. The shout of loudest cry of my mom brought me back from my thoughts. Finally i can see him, he has appeared with a lady in him arms she looks messy in my contrast . I ran to see the lady. Her face matched with mine, i asked lot of questions but he can’t hear. He is moving lifelessly, he can’t feel my touch. I stood in front ofhim to stop but he passed through me.Then i realized, i don’t only failed in my life but also failed in memory. And even after years when I miss that moment I agree, thinking, in that story my role was too short, you could say that god! had cut off my role. But in the eyes of certain characters of the story, tears still rolls down when I mention. How good it was. i was a part of my family, friends ,and specifically of him. I know and it seems some lives are linked across time, coupled by an ancient calling that echoes through the age.。

While they both were bathing, James was a bit careless and began to drown. John rushed to him and saved him.James hugged his friend and thanked him. They had a little nap and decided to leave the place. When they were about to leave, James carved something on the rock.It was “My best friend saved my life!”He said to John, “When you slapped me, I recorded it on sand. The wind would have blown it away by now. However, when you saved my life, I recorded it on rock. Don’t desire to walk when you have wings to flyOnce upon a time, there lived a generous and kind-hearted king. He was fond of birds and animals, and had a huge bird sanctuary in his kingdom. He disliked harming the animals and birds. He did not kill them even for meat.In appreciation of his generosity and kindness towards birds, the king was gifted two beautiful falcons by a businessman. Those two falcons were used to different climatic conditions. The king thanked the businessman and ordered the Head bird trainer to provide all the facilities to those beautiful falcons and make them feel comfortable in their country. The Head trainer took care of the birds.G radually, the birds got adapted to the country’s climate.One day, the king wanted to see the falcons fly as he had heard that one of those falcons could fly to great heights at very high speed. The bird trainer let the falcon out of the enclosure. It flew very high, very quickly, and came down to the enclosure within minutes.The king was quite surprised, and rewarded the bird trainer with a handful of gold coins. He enquired about the other falcon. The bird trainer stated with regret that the other falcon had not moved even a step from day one and had just sat on the branch. The trainer also added that he had tried everything he could but still failed to make the bird move.The king consoled him and told him that he would bring someone more experienced than him to try to train the other falcon.Soon, the king announced that he needed someone to make the falcon move and fly.Hearing this announcement, an old man reached the King’s palace and assured him that he would make the bird fly like the other one.The king asked the head trainer to take the old man to the sanctuary to train the falcon. He said that he would visit them the next day to see if there was any change.The next day, the king was very surprised to see the other falcon fly like the first one to great heights in rapid speed. The king was very happy and gifted the old man a handful of gold coins.Then the king asked the old man what he had done to make the bird fly in a day. The old man simply replied, “I just cut down the branch of the tree where the falcon used to sit.”Many of us are like this. We have wings to fly; we know how to fly, and where to fly. Still we sit doing nothing or doing something that makes us inferior to others.Don’t sit still when you have wings to fly!。

A Homeless ManThere is a saying "One man's trash is another man's treasure," meaning I might not like something and throw it away, and then someone might love it and take it. I remember seeing a homeless guy searching trash cans looking for something he could sell. I asked him why he did that. He looked at me and said "One man's trash is another man's treasure," which I didn't understand at that time.In fact, he was collecting stuff he needed not only to sell, but stuff he needed to make his home. This man lived in the park by my house. No one really bothered him because he was respectful and would clean up after himself. I went running in the park one day and saw him putting together a bed with stuff he had collected from the trash. He always looked for clean stuff. If it had food trash on it, he wouldn't take it. I went back to my car and took a blanket to him. He saw it and thanked me.I remember one day the police were bothering him because they had to take away his stuff. The members of the neighborhood went to the police and told them that he wasn't hurting anybody by being there. The homeless man looked at everyone and thanked them, but told the police to take his home away if they had to. "I know you guys are just doing your job. Go ahead," he said.When the police heard him say that, they decided to leave him alone. He has been there for a couple of years now. He has even started planting a garden outside by the football field. People often go and give him food and other items he might need. He has made trash into his treasure.。

Laundry DaySaturday morning meant one thing for Susan—doing the laundry. She hated doing the laundry. Unenthusiastically, she took the pillow cases off all the pillows. Then she removed the fitted sheet from the mattress. She took the towel off the towel bar in the bathroom.She grabbed a couple of dirty dish towels out of the kitchen, and looked all around her apartment for anything else that needed washing.In the corner of her living room, a can of coins sat on top of the file cabinet. She fished out seven quarters. She opened the cabinet under her kitchen sink and grabbed a plastic bottle of liquid detergent.Finally, she set her electronic timer for 35 minutes. The timer would remind her that the washing was done, and that it was time to go back downstairs and put the clothes into the dryer for 40 minutes. Without the timer, Susan would completely forget to check her clothes.Susan carried the laundry basket downstairs. How happy she would be when her laundry was done for this week. As she approached the laundry room, she heard a familiar sound. The sound was the washer washing and the dryer drying. One of her neighbors had got there before her. Muttering, Susan took her basket back upstairs.。

The YardmanThe yardman comes every two weeks. He drives a gray pickup truck. The truck is a Ford. It is about 15 years old, but it runs well. It doesn't burn oil, and it gets decent gas mileage. Byron uses the leaf blower to blow leaves and dirt from the back of the building out to the front of the building. Then he rakes up the leaves into a bag. He blows the dirt out into the street. He cuts the lawn with his lawn mower. He trims the hedge. He uses the leaf blower to blow the dirt off each Welcome mat that lies in front of each apartment door.Then he puts all the leaves, the grass trimmings, and the hedge clippings into a wheelbarrow. He pushes the wheelbarrow to the back of the building, where he uses his big shovel to empty the wheelbarrow contents into the big dumpster. It takes Byron about two hours to do this work.When he is done, he goes half a block up the street to the house on the corner. There he does the same work again.。

Think of your favorite beach. How many grains of sand are on that beach? Now think of all the grains of sand on all the beaches on Earth.
