这节课主要教学任务是教授六个动物单词，所以在设计教学过程是从学生的年龄特点和兴趣出发，并结合学生已有的知识，采用多种形式导入本课的新单词，以吸引学生的注意力。比如用猜谜的形式引出新单词pig、elephant ；利用简笔画画动物的尾巴来引出单词rabbit等等，做到了教学环节环环相扣。在单词巩固操练中，也利用了多种形式，主要还是采用一些学生感兴趣的小游戏，来进行操练，这一系列的活动，活跃课堂气氛，激发学生兴趣，让学生在感受，体验，参与过程中来学习英语。
小学英语课程的任务是激发和培养学生学习英语的兴趣，是学生树立自信心，养成良好的学习习惯和形成有效的学习策略，发展自主学习的能力和合作精神。基于这一理念，我把动物玩具头饰和卡片带到课堂中来，在课堂中创设尽量真实的语言环境，比如通过让小学生来模范动物的动作和神态，请其他的学生来猜猜都是些什么动物，在这一环节中可以看到表演的学生是那么的活泼可爱，猜的学生也是那么的积极，整个课堂充满了轻松和谐的气氛。而让学生听动物的声音来判断小动物这个游戏充分的调动了学生的各个感官参与到学习中来。本堂课最能体现学生对语言运用能力的环节是游戏自我介绍，学生把自己童话化，由于所学知识有限，所以在教师的鼓励下，孩子们把会说的单词说出来，不会的就直接用中文代替，把单词放在有交际意义的句子或句群中去交流，这让学生在一节课后不仅能学到单个的词汇，更重要的是学会在一定的情境中正确地使用这些词汇，为以后的真实的语言环境中运用打下基础。让学生感受到用英语交流的乐趣和愉悦感，培养学生初步运用英语进行交流的能力。
新课程要求课堂教学要关注每一个学生的发展，不放弃任何一个学生。但是在本堂课中还不能完全做到这一点，操练的面不广，比如用击鼓传花的方式虽然随机性比较大，但是那些不愿意说的学生就算被抽到了也会由于不自信而不出声。在课堂教学中要引导学生尽量用学过的英语来说，比如，让学生自创歌谣这一环节，学生讲出来的基本上是汉堡式的英语。这些都是在以后教学中要改善的地方。
