过人生中的重大变故或者“大风大浪”。
所以在写这类文章时，申请者们可以发掘出自己印象
较深的经历，回想从这个经历中你学到了什么，有哪些成长。
同样，你可以写独特的经历，你认为你认识的人里面，一般人没经历过的或者不愿意做
的就可以。
例如，高中生打篮球的常见，但是玩狙击枪的没几个。
你可以写自己对某个问题
的独特想法，这不是说非得“语不惊人死不休”，只要是和一般想法不一样的就可以，例如，
现在房价太高，普通人买不起房，大家都觉得要降房价，但有学生认为应该再涨一点才行。
其实这些都是自己经历故事的范畴。
但是，值得注意的是，在描述经历故事的时候，不要过
度刻画影响你的那个“人”或“事”，而是要侧重描写对你的影响以及改变。
第二类：为什么(why school/why major)类型文书
“为什么”类型的文书是我们通常在附表文书中常见的一类文书。
特别需要提醒大家注意的是，在写附表文书之前一定先把自己所选择的学院和专业先填写好，再看具体的学院或者专业下面的supplement essay的要求和题目。
因为有些学校的why essay 针对不同的学院和专业题目的要求是不一样的。
而有些学校的supplement essay 是只有国际学生才要求提交的。
why essay通常分为两类，一类是问学生“为什么你想来我们学校?”“我们哪里吸引了你”之类的，也就是我么通常所说的“why school” 类型的文书，这类文书意在了解申请学生是否真的对本校充满了热情与渴望。
想要在why school 文书上面展现自己的特点，最重要的一点就是对学校的深刻理解和认同。
另外一类why essay 是 why major类的，问学生“为什么要选择这个专业?” “你的哪些经历促使你想要在这个领域探索?” 这类题目意在了解学生的学术兴趣和专业方向，以及之后的学业规划和打算，以及对该学校该专业的理解。
那么如何才能写好“why”类型的文书呢?
第一步，我们需要做的是了解自己，当学生写到why essay的时候，应该已经完成了common essay，同时，通过在common essay 写作的过程中，已通过自我反思与头脑风暴认识到了自己的基本情况，了解了自己的优劣势，发掘出了可在留学文书写作中体现的事例和经历。
那么，罗列出自己要在why essay 中写的具体例子，找到与学校或者相关专业相match 的点。
第二步，了解学校的特点/专业的设置特点。
这一步是写好why essay的一大重点。
同学们可以通过各种渠道去了解这个学校的文化，包括校训、校徽、历史等，并且从中找出可以吸引你的地方。
你可以通过学校官网查询，也可问问校友，如果条件允许，去美国参加一次
实地访校活动，更加直观了解一下学校的特点以及你所喜欢的专业，课程的内容，毕业后的
就业情况等。
第三步，确定了学校吸引/专业匹配你的地方后，你要用自己的方式表达出对学校有深度
的了解，让招生官感受到你对学校发自内心的喜爱，并且体现出你的性格与学校文化的契合度。
Why major 的文书要讲清楚你的学术兴趣发展的过程以及在这个方向你想继续探索的内容。
申请者可以从学校的硬、软件设施、校园以及环境、课程等方面入手，深入浅出的谈谈
为什么学校适合你，突出学校和你相匹配的点是什么?以此作为亮点突出你为什么选择该学校/该专业。
第三类: 考察多元化“Diversity”类型的文书内容
以华盛顿大学的文书为例：
Our families and communities often define us and our individual worlds. Community might refer to your cultural group extended family religious group neighborhood or school sports team or club co-workers etc. Describe the world you come from and how you as a product of it might add to the diversity of the UW. “多元化”是美国大学的一个重要特点。
同样，在申请过程中招生官也是非常想看到国际
学生的“多元化”特点。
关于这类文章，写思路可以分为两部分：描述你所在的世界/社区，及
这个世界/社区对你的影响，这个影响可以为大学的多元化增加什么。
可能会有同学被“社区”
这个词限制住了。
“社区”不光大可写宗教、地理位置或者血缘的群体，小可写你所在的家庭，学校，体育队，工作伙伴的范围，或者因为共同的兴趣爱好而组织起来团队以及你参与“圈子”，比如说物理实验论坛、围棋社团等。
当然，这类文章并不是仅仅为了告诉招生官你所在的世界/社团。
而是通过你所在的世界/团体，展现你自己的特点。
根本目的是你向招生官展示自我风采，而招生官的责任是建设一
个多元化的大学社区。
这类题目除了写出你的组织能力、团队合作能力以及领导能力得到锻炼，还可以从某一个角度展现自身特有的素质和你的精神。
