Fill in each of the blanks with the words you have heard on the tape. Write your answer in the corresponding space in your ANSWER BOOKLET. Remember you will hear the passage ONLY ONCE.Good afternoon, folks! Today's topic is try jogging for fitness. When we run for fitness, exercise and pleasure, it is commonly called jogging. Jogging has become very popular in recent years. The popularity of jogging today stems from several factors. First, jogging is one of the most efficient forms of exercise. As a rule, a person jogging burns up more calories per minute than in most other sports. Running, like biking, swimming, and brisk walking, is an aerobic exercise. Such an exercise uses a great deal of oxygen. In addition, it increases the heart rate. Aerobic exercise strengthens the heart muscle so that it pumps more efficiently. This kind of exercise is also one of the best ways to improve our general health and capacity of our lungs. Jogging is also popular because almost every one of us can take part. Jogging is an activity that doesn't require any unusual skills or special coordination. Jogging is relaxing and fun. Finally, it can be done alone, with another person or in a group. For anyone who runs more than 20 miles a week, it is important to have good running shoes. Tennis shoes or sneakers won't do. Running produces stress that is three times greater than the stress of walking. With this added stress to our feet and legs, we need good shoes. The shoes should be replaced when they are worn out or worn unevenly. Cold weather poses a few problems for us joggers. The main hazard in winter-running is slipping on ice or snow. There is no danger of freezing our lungs, because our body warms the air before it reaches our lungs. In winter, we should be sure to cover the head and keep our feet as dry and warm as possible. It's best to wear layers of clothing. In summer, we must be careful not to dry out. So it is important for us to drink plenty of water on hot, humid days.

(5)SECTION 3: TRANSLATION TEST (1)(30 minutes)Directions: Translate the following passage into Chinese and write your version in the corresponding space in your ANSWER BOOKLET.The culture of any society is usually thought to be of two kinds: material and nonmaterial. Material culture includes the man-made phenomena which have physical properties such as height, breadth, and weight. A boat, a machine, a house-all these objects are part of the material culture. The nonmaterial culture is that portion of the environment which surrounds man and which has an impact on his behavior but which lacks these material properties: values, beliefs, traditions, and all the other habits and ideas invented and acquired by man as a member of society.Contemporary sociological theory tends to assign primary importance to the nonmaterial culture in choosing problems for study. It assumes, for example, that boats, planes, automobiles, and so forth, are not nearly so important as the traditions we have developed which make their manufacture possible-indeed, which prescribe how we are to use them. The emphasis of contemporary sociology is to insist that the material culture would not exist had not the nonmaterial culture first been available to suggest the ideas which are embodied in the inventions of material culture.SECTION 4: TRANSLATION TEST (2)(30 minutes)Directions: Translate the following passage into English and write your version in the corresponding space in your ANSWER BOOKLET.

Spot Dictation:We all have problems and barriers that block our progress or prevent us from moving into new areas. Our problems might include the fear of speaking in front of a group anxiety about math problemsor the reluctance to sound silly trying to speak a foreign language. It's natural to have problems and barriersbut sometimes they limit our experience so muchwe get bored with life. When that happensconsider the following three ways of dealing with the problem or barrier. One way is to pretend it doesn't exist. Avoid itdeny itand lie about it. It's like turning your head the other wayputting on a fake grinand saying"Seethere's really no problem at all. Everything is fine."In addition to looking foolishthis approach leaves the barrier intactand we keep bumping into it. Soa second approach is to fight the barrierto struggle against it. This usually makes the barrier grow. It increases the barrier's magnitude. A person who is obsessed with weight might constantly worry about being fat. He might struggle with it every daytrying diet after diet. And the more he strugglesthe bigger the problem gets. The third alternative is to love the barrier. Accept it. T otally experience it. Tell the truth about it. Describe it in detail.Applying this process is easier if you remember o ideas. First loving a problem is not necessarily the same as enjoying it. Love in this sense means total and unconditional acceptance. Secondunconditional acceptance is not the same as unconditional surrender. Accepting a problem is different than giving up or escaping from it. Ratherthis process involves escaping into the problemdiving into it headfirstand getting to know it in detail.Often the most effective solutions ewhen we face a problem squarelywith eyes wide openthen we can move through the probleminstead of around it. When you are willing to love your problemsyou drain them of much of their energy.【评析】本文选自Dave Ellis 的著作Being a Master Student其中的一个章节:Love your problems and experience your barriers,本文主要介绍了解决问题的三种办法,第一种是直接无视它,就当不存在;第二种是正视它,挑战它,第三种则是爱上困难,充分体验。

Answer the questions on each text by choosing A, B, C or D. Today there are three different kinds of New Yorkers: the people who act as if they were born here: the people who are here and wish to be elsewhere: and the collection of virtual New Yorkers all over the world, who wish they were living in New York. These are the three states of mind and what they have in common are longing and illusion. In fact, it´ s a city of dreamers. What makes New York special? New Yorkers are convinced of its specialness—but Toronto is more diverse, London is larger, Washington is more powerful. So why does New York think it´ s the capital of the world?People often explain the problems in European cities by citing inequality. But New York today is one of the most unequal cities in America. In 2010, 1 percent of New Yorkers earned 45 percent of its income. That works out to an average of $3.7 million a year for the city´s top 34,500 households. The average daily income of this group is greater than the average annual income of the city´ s bottom 10 percent. So why would people still come to try their luck in this tough place? Is it opportunity or illusion that draws them? They come because any newcomer can find a place in the hierarchy of New York. If you look at a New York City restaurant, for example, the cook might be French, the people washing dishes might be Mexican, the hostess might be Russian, the owner might be British. They are not all equal. They earn different rates. But they work together to get food to hungry people. What New York demonstrates is this: immigration works. The city can use its immigrants, eventhe illegal ones. Though they broke the law by illegally crossing the borders, the city´ s economy would be a shell of itself had they not, and it would collapse if they were deported. Attracted here by the founding myth of the city, each immigrant is seeking to escape from history, personal and political. For him, New York is the city of the second chance.第46题The writer mentions the three kinds of New Yorkers to stress that______.A.they share the same longingB.they are in pursuit of dreamsC.they are proud of their birthplaceD.they wish to live in another place第47题In the eyes of New Yorkers, their city is______.A.powerfulB.diverseC.specialrge第48题The figures in paragraph 3 are given to show that New York______.A.favors the luckyB.favors the localsC.is a city of inequalityD.is a city of opportunities第49题People keep coming to New York because they can find jobs that______.A.challenge themB.suit them wellC.pay them wellD.raise their status第50题It is implied in the text that New York is______.A.a tolerant cityB.a wealthy cityC.a mythical cityD.a historical city上一题下一题(51~55/共15题)ComprehensionDirections:Read the following two texts. Answer the questions on each text by choosing A, B, C or D.We´ ve read how babies stare longer and cry less when held by pretty people, and heard tales of handsome children doing better in school, given special attention by their teachers. In life, as in love, beautiful people seem to have it awfully easy. But what if we told you that when it comes to online dating, good looks could actually hurt you?According to a recent survey of 43,000 users by OK Cupid, an online dating site, the more men disagree about a woman´s looks, the more they end up liking her. What does that mean for ladies looking for a match? " We now have mathematical evidence that minimizing your´weaknesses´ is the opposite of what you should do," says the site´s co-founder, Christian Rudder. "If you´re a little fat, play it up. If you have a big nose, play it up. Statistically, the guys who don´ t like it can only help you, and the ones who do like it will be all the more excited. "The results of this study end up highlighting an idea that recent scientific research does indeed support. Which is this: the beautiful may have it good, but online, as in work and life, women who are too attractive don´t always have an advantage.Beauty creates more competition—among women, taught they must out-look each other for men and jobs and everyday satisfaction: and among men, who are competing for the most attractive prize. All of which might help explain why 47 percent of corporate recruiters believe it´s possible for a woman to suffer for being " too good-looking": why attractive women tend to face heightened examination from their female peers: or, finally, why men on OK Cupid end up contacting women who may ultimately be less attractive—because it removes the opposition. " If you suspect other men are uninterested, it means less competition," explains Rudder. " You might start thinking: maybe she´ s lonely... maybe she´ s just waiting to find a guy who appreciates her... at least I won´ t get lost in the crowd. "In the end, being beautiful will always have its blessings—but sometimes, there´ s more to an advantage than meets the eye.第51题It is generally believed that beautiful people______.A.have less difficulty in lifeB.are less worried about loveC.pay less attention to othersD.like to gaze at lovely babies第52题The OK Cupid survey found that men´ s arguments over a woman´ s looks______.A.have little meaningB.benefit online datingC.will actually hurt herD.add to her popularity第53题Christian Rudder advises women to______.A.play up their physical advantagesB.view their popularity scientificallyC.highlight their physical weaknessesD.accept guys who are willing to help第54题The attitude of women toward their attractive peers is______.A.criticalB.friendlyC.conservativeD.straightforward第55题The main idea of the text is that a woman´ s good looks______.A.help to shape ideas of beauty。

Interpret the following passage from English to Chinese. You will hear this signal to tell you when you start interpreting)

[本题分数]: 25.0 分【答案解析】[听力原文]Ever since man appeared on the earth, man's survival has heavily relied on nature. Almost everything we use in our everyday life comes from nature, ranging from the food we eat, the water we drink, to the wood which is turned into furniture. With the development of technology and population growth, the amount and range of materials used has increased at an alarming rate. However, natural resources are not inexhaustible. Some reserves are already on the brink of exhaustion and there is no hope of replacing them. The widespread water shortage is an example in point. If man continued to squander natural resources with no thought for the future, the later generations would end up selling sand, as is the case in the cartoon, and the whole world would be in a mess.
