Missing Loved Ones on the Lantern Festival
Every year on the 15th day of the first lunar month, it's the traditional Lantern Festival in China. On this day, families decorate their houses with lanterns and celebrate in great joy. For me, however, the Lantern Festival is not just a festival; it carries my deep longing for loved ones far away.
When I was a child, the Lantern Festival was one of my most anticipated holidays. On that day, my family would work together to make sweet dumplings, each symbolizing unity and happiness for the family. We would sit around the dining table, enjoying the delicious dumplings and admiring the bright moon outside, feeling the warmth of family.
However, as I grew up and left home for studies and work, the Lantern Festival seemed to change. Whenever this festival came around, I couldn't help but miss my family back home and recall the warm moments we once shared on the Lantern Festival. Even though I was in a different place, I would still buy a packet of sweet dumplings, tasting a bit of home while my heart was full of longing and blessings for my family.
