216.[A]principle[B]secret[C]belief[D]sign17.[A]request[B]necessity[C]decision[D]wish18.[A]disappointing[B]surprising[C]restricting[D]consuming19.[A]ifbecause[B]unless[C]until[D]consuming20.[A]obsessing[B]dominating[C]puzzling[D]triumphing1-20参考答案及解析:1.[答案]【D】However[解析]此处是逻辑关系考点。 所给的答案中[A]Besides(除此之外),[B]Therefore(因此),[D]Otherwise(否则),意思都不符合题意。 而其他答案[A]initially(最初地)[B]solely(仅仅地)[C]occasionally(偶尔地)[D]formally(正式地)都不合题意。 其他选项[A]recording(记录)[C]explaining(解释)[D]accepting(接受)都不能表达此意。 其它选项[A]modify(修改)[B]set(设立)[C]review(复习)都不符合题意。 其它选项[A]definition(定义)[C]distribution(分配)[D]prediction(预测)都不符合题意。 其他三个选项[B]regardlessof(尽管)[C]asidefrom(除了)[D]alongwith(随着)带入句子都通顺,所以不入选。 其他三个选项[A]orderly(有顺序的)[B]rigid(严肃的)[C]precise(精准的)和后面changes搭配都不符合句意。 其它选项:[A]claims(要求,索赔),[B]judgments(判断),[D]methods(方法)带入都不符合题意。

3conceal(隐藏)[D]report(报道)都不符合题意。 其它选项:[A]dependon(依据),[B]approveof(同意)[C]holdonto(坚持)都不符合题意。 其他选项:[D]prepare(准备)[A]share(分项)[C]confirm(断言)都不符合题意。 其它选项[B]features(特点)[C]rules(规则)[D]tests(实验)都不符合题意。 其它选项:[A]bored(烦闷的),[B]anxious(焦虑的),[D]sick(有病的)都不符合题意。 其它选项:[A]principle(原则)[B]secret(秘密)[C]belief(信仰)都不符合题意。 其它选项:[A]request(要求),[B]necessity(必要性),[D]wish(愿望)都不符合题意。 其它选项:[B]surprising(令人惊奇的),[C]restricting(限制性的)[D]consuming(浪费的)都不符合题意。 其他选项:[B]unless(除非)[C]until(直到)[D]if(如果)都不符合题意。 其它选项[B]dominating(统治的)[C]puzzling(迷惑的)[D]triumphing(成功的)都不符合题意。SectionIIReadingComprehensionPartADirections:Readthefollowingfourtexts.AnswerthequestionsbeloweachtextbychoosingA,B,CorD.MarkyouranswersontheANSWERSHEET.(40points)Text1Unlikeso-calledbasicemotionssuchassadness,fear,andanger,guiltemergesalittlelater,inconjunctionwithachild’sgrowinggraspofsocialandmoralnorms.Childrenaren’tbornknowinghowtosay“I’msorry”;rather,theylearnovertimethatsuchstatementsappeaseparentsandfriends—andtheirownconsciences.Thisiswhyresearchersgenerallyregardso-calledmoralguilt,intherightamount,tobeagoodthing.Inthepopularimagination,ofcourse,guiltstillgetsabadrap.Itisdeeplyuncomfortable—it’stheemotional

Forests give us shade, quiet and one of the harder challenges in the fight against climate change. Even as we humanscount on forests to soak up a good share of the carbon dioxide we produce, we are threatening their ability to do so. Theclimate change we are hastening could one day leave us with forests that emit more carbon than they absorb.

Thankfully, there is a way out of this trap—but it involves striking a subtle balance. Helping forests flourish as valuable"carbon sinks" long into the future may require reducing their capacity to sequester carbon now. California is leading the way,as it does on so many climate efforts, in figuring out the details.

The state's proposed Forest Carbon Plan aims to double efforts to thin out young trees and clear brush in parts of theforest, including by controlled burning. This temporarily lowers carbon-carrying capacity. But the remaining trees draw agreater share of the available moisture, so they grow and thrive, restoring the forest's capacity to pull carbon from the air.Healthy trees are also better able to fend off bark beetles. The landscape is rendered less combustible. Even in the event of afire, fewer trees are consumed.

21. [C] foster a child’s moral development

22. [B] burdensome

23. [D] an emotion can play opposing roles

24. [B] can result from either sympahty or guilt

25. [D] wrongdoings

解析:

Researchers think that guilt can be a good thing

because it may help______. This is why

researchers generally regard so-called moral guilt, in the right

amount, to be a good thing. Unlike so-called basic emotions such

as sadness, fear, and anger, guilt emerges a little later, in

conjunction with a child’s growing grasp of social and moral

norms. Children aren’t born knowing how to say

“I’m sorry”; rather, they learn over time that such statements

retirement money.

Steelworkers, airline employees, and now those…are joining

Text 3

American farmers have been complaining of labor shortages

for several years now. Given a multi-year decline in illegal

immigration, and a similarly sustained pickup in the U.S. job

market, the complaints are unlikely to stop without an overhaul

of immigration rules for farm workers.

Efforts to create a more straightforward agricultural-workers

visa that would enable foreign workers to stay longer in the U.S.

and change jobs within the industry have so far failed in Congress.

If this doesn’t change, American businesses, communities and

consumers will be the losers.

Perhaps half of U.S. farm laborers are undocumented

immigrants. As fewer such workers enter the U.S., the

characteristics of the agricultural workforce are changing.

Think about driving a route that’s very familiar. It could be your

commute to work, a trip into town or the way home. Whichever it is, you know

every twist and turn like the back of your hand. On these sorts of trips it’s

easy tozone out from the actual(命题人改编为:lose concentration on the)

driving and pay little attention to the passing scenery. The consequence is

that you perceive that the trip has taken less time than it actually has.

This is the well-travelled road effect: people tend to underestimate the

time it takes to travel a familiar route.

You should write about 100 words neatly on the ANSWER SHEET. Do not use your own name

at the end of the email. Use “Zhang Wei” instead. (10 points)
