I know the name sounds kind of sad, but it's actually a really important museum that teaches people about a terrible event from history. Back in 1937, during World War 2, the Japanese army invaded Nanjing and killed over 300,000 Chinese civilians and soldiers over just 6 weeks! It was one of the worst massacres in history.The Memorial Hall has many exhibitions that show what happened, with pictures, artifacts, and survivor testimonies. As you walk through, you see skeletons, weapons, and clothes from victims. It's very sobering. There is a big Memorial Square outside with thousands of graves and sculptures. Visiting makes me feel sad but also proud of those who sacrificed for my country.My second favorite spot is Xuanwu Lake. It's a huge beautiful lake right in the city center with an island park in the middle. Youcan take a little boat across to the island and rent bikes to explore it. There are trails through gardens filled with flowers, rockeries, pavilions, and temples. The best part is feeding the fish, ducks, and swans that live in the lake! You can buy food from vendors on the island to toss to them.On the mainland side, there are parks surrounding the lake with snack stands, carnival games, and amusement park rides. At night the whole area lights up with colorful lanterns - it's magical! Nearby is Nanjing's famous Fuzi Miao area, an old historical neighborhood with yummy street food.My third pick is the Nanjing City Wall, which used to protect the city from invaders. Just don't look down if you're scared of heights!Next is Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo, one of the biggest zoos in China. They have giant pandas, which are my favorite animal! The zoo has other cool exhibits too like the African safari area with lions and giraffes roaming.There are also rides, an aquarium, an insect house, and a dino park with huge dinosaur statues. I always beg my parents to buy me stuffed animal souvenirs from the gift shop.Lastly, I love going to the Nanjing Confucius Temple. 九曲桥，九曲十八弯，它建在湖边几米的高空上，远远望去，湖水与天空相接，还可以看到湖边的周围种满了各种各样的树木，有四季如春的榕树婀娜多姿的柳树盼望祖国早日统一的台湾相思树高耸挺拔的水杉树;还有一些不知名称的树木，它们的树枝郁郁葱葱地叠在一起，不留一点儿缝隙，远远望去，好像一把把绿色的大雨伞。
